So I guess all those undercover operations such as "Donnie Brasco", and others through various means of deception such as the FBI posing as terrorists to root out other terrorists...they shouldn't be doing all that because of the lies, right Gecko?
Yes, exposing an ebay scammer of course isn't on the same level as what was mentioned, but to me it's still criminal activity that should be stopped and the criminals prosecuted, and if some white lies can expose these scammers, then I think most would agree that is a good thing to do.
I do not think it was right to call ebay and lie. If you have real proof then call ebay and tell them. Even if you just believe it is a scam still call ebay. Let's hope the buyer is not dumb and did verify the card before he bid or at least protects himself before he sends payment. I do think it is a scam though.
<<<<< Well Here is my Shot at my 2nd batch of auctions. I listed a few before but everyone wants to pick up cards. I spoke to my lawyer and he stated no pick ups as its too valuable and you should have a paper trail. I argued with quite a few people and then there were a few nice people that they suggested the next pictures I take to put my username with the picture scan. My late husband was the owner of this item and the previous item listed. He got this card right before he passed away sometime in August. He was an avid collector of cards. He has almost the full set of 1951 graded only missing 5 cards. I will accept paypal as I am verified and expect you to be too. However, please don't contact me saying pick up cash etc etc. I am a woman and refuse to meet with people online for safety. Any questions contact me. Also please note that I have alot more items left to sell. The last auctions no one has paid for yet they were a babe ruth signed ball, 1952 mickey mantle topps card, and 1952 topps wax pack. contact me via email. Please do not call my house because these were left to my son and he is upset as is that we have to sell them to survive. If you are the winner we can talk. I talked to quite a few people and some were yelling at my late husband estate attorney, asking for details of his license etc. He was upset that he was hasseled like a criminal. If I was trying to scam anyone I would not be on ebay, I would be in the street on a corner begging for money. So please don't degrade me as I have been. It is hard to start as a new seller on Ebay and you were all there at one point too. I have many items left so let me know what you like and I will travel to the Deposit Box and check it out.
sure Gecko. a person who can do a write-up for a Mantle on eBay is "unfamiliar" with sportscards. you crack me up.
look if Patrick wanted to be the sacraficial lamb, i applaud him for that, but seriously all anyone needs to do is bring up the freeking scans, you can't take 'em and use 'em like that without permission.
you really think she(?) contacted Legacy and politely asked?
<<<<< Hey thank you for browsing my auctions. I am listing these 3 items on ebay Mickey Mantle card, Babe Ruth ball, 1952 topps pack. These items were my late husbands, he loved his baseball collection. So me and my son spoke and we decided to sell it to help us survive. Originally i went to a local card dealer, and he acted very fast and said well there nice pieces ill offer you about $2000 for all 3. I found that odd so i left and said ill keep that offer in mind. A friend said to try to go to an auction house. I called two different ones for a consignment and they wanted a huge percentage, Plus it can take forever to auction. So this is my last hope I hope to make about $5000 between all 3 items as i need the money by the end of the first week of november. If you have any questions please feel free to message me, or if you have any advice.

Case reopened due to additional evidence.
I say if it walks like a duck.....it's a duck. In my opinion, based on the way the "sales pitch" is worded, this seller has been on ebay before, perhaps a number of times, and my "opinion" about ebay scammers is virtually always correct - I think I missed just one time since I've been a member here and it was due to convoluted and misleading evidence.
Maybe this will be my second miss, but I don't think so.

If you're not careful, Mark, you might fall off your high horse and get hurt. This is quite obviously a scam and I applaud those who have taken steps to alert eBay and others about it.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
Me: Goodmorning, i'd like to forward to you some information on auction interference by an ebay user.
Ebay: Thanks for your concern, did someone interfere in your auction?
Me: No, but I have evidence that another member of ebay has decided to lie directly to you in reference to a recent sale on your site.
Ebay: What is the item number of the auction in question?
Me: Its auction number 140475040945
Ebay: The bowman baseball card that has ended?
Me: Yes, thats the one.
Ebay: Our records indicate another member has logged a complaint about this auction. He states that he owns the actual card.
Me: Yeah, that would be Patrick Mullins....he does not own the card, but simply lied that he did in order to interfere with this auction. I will provide a link of the forum discussion where this took place.
Ebay: Thanks for the concern, we here at ebay make every attempt to ensure a safe and fair buying venue for sellers and customers. We will now contact Mr. Mullins for further proof that he does in fact own this card.
And how will you provide ebay with any specifically requested scans of this card? What you just did was no better than what the fraudulent seller did. Lied about owning something you dont own. >>

I don't know where you get that from. I am suggesting one should not break the law, break ebay rules, and lie, because they suspect something. That is hardly a high horse position.

Thanks. >>>>>

I do agree there are red flags. That does not give any of us the right to lie to eBay because we would most likely be right. Again, does anyone have any solid evidence?.....I have not seen it posted in this thread.
Can someone show me where the images of the card with the new case were lifted?
You should absolutely suspect something. Going much further then that without evidence is wrong.

Originally i went to a local card dealer, and he acted very fast and said well there nice pieces ill offer you about $2000 for all 3. I found that odd so i left and said ill keep that offer in mind.
Also, it is clearly against eBay rules...

Me: Thanks, and have a great week!
<< <i>
And how will you provide ebay with any specifically requested scans of this card? What you just did was no better than what the fraudulent seller did. Lied about owning something you dont own. >>
<< <i>Ebay: Mr. Mullins, could you please take a digital picture of you holding this card at a slight angle please? We'll be waiting, thank you! >>
I will gladly provide eBay with that image and they are free to contact me.
<< <i>If you're not careful, Mark, you might fall off your high horse and get hurt. This is quite obviously a scam and I applaud those who have taken steps to alert eBay and others about it. >>
I don't know where you get that from. I am suggesting one should not break the law, break ebay rules, and lie, because they suspect something. That is hardly a high horse position.

<< <i>This listing is such a joke. First off, the username is superimposed onto a picuture of the Mantle card and not directly placed on the case. I love the grammar used in this line, it makes it look like she

So, the fact that she didn't put an exact date in the listing means she she isn't sure or was somehow estanged from him. Riiiight.
