That's too bad about the chrome set. I would love to trade for it. I think I am going to start the 100 card project this week. One at a time will take a while but it will give me something to search for.
Walt,
I share your pain on the value boxes. I have bought about 20 of them with about 3 heritage GU to show for it and a bunch of code cards. Hopefully my luck turns soon, I have two of them waiting to be opened when I get home.

dang man, now I want to go out and buy a few more. On a positive note, I have done no less than 50% cash back by selling all my code cards. Can't beat 2 hobby packs of heritage and 5 retail packs of topps for 7.50!
On an unrelated note, has anyone seen a 2001 Heritage Willie Mays autoproof? I have been looking for this card since Heritage came out in 01 and have yet to see one. I wonder if the card was even packed out.
I was thinking this morning about going on a rant about all the autos in these things before I had to go to WalMart (Blowout had a post about a Koufax out of on) and will still. Other Topps products that are purely chase products, I can see putting big hits in retail to encourage expanded sales markets, but Heritage has always been a set collector's product. Why the strict adherence to years they are replicating? To have people open a case and get perhaps 0 autos and perhaps not even a complete set is a slap. They then turn around and load these boxes. Doesn't make sense in the least. Again, with products where people throw out the commons and sell the hits, sure. To cap it all off, a damn box of heritage is over $100? Just not right.
That is one nice dual Coilo ! My wife took one of our dogs to the vet specialist yesterday. She stopped at a Target on the way back home & picked up 3 of the jumbo packs. 3 SP 1 Chrome & my 3rd SSP this year-Bengie Molina with the wrong birth date.
Fantastic pull! I had planned on scanning all my Cardinals "hits" from this year.....unfortunately I spent 6 hours in the E.R. instead. Broke both bones in my leg just above the ankle, have to call the specialist Monday morning and schedule surgery. Now I can't even go look for retail, doped up on pain pills stuck in bed and nothing to rip.
Thought I could show the neighbor kid how to ride his child sized bike......needless to say I showed him how to not ride it.....never broken a bone before, kind of smarts. Figures the first time I do it's not just something they can put in a cast.
the last time I tried to ride a bike I ended up running into a curb and almost going headfirst over the handle bars....my daughter cracked up....needless to say I no longer go there...... al.

ISTHTY, Doran. I think the Angry Thread needs an update.
Since Sunday is my day off, i decided that today was the day that i was going to start my 2011 Topps Heritage Set. I've been picking up these since they hit the shelves upon release:
well, i turned the above into this:
i did ok, but more importantly, really enjoyed the rip!

Thanks for the read, Eric

Thanks fellas, I ran out yesterday and picked up the Baseball Beckett (Ichiro on the cover). However, the print guide didn't list prices for the green tints (I pulled Guererro, Boesch and Valverde). Walt: are those listed anywhere else? Online? Thanks for providing these green tint book prices (if anyone has them).

YOU, are the luckiest man i know,, you did the same thing last year, bought a couple packs and hit then as well,,, whats your secret because i have bought out just about every retail box in my area and hit nothing to speak of , a stamp card,, you my friend should play the lotto,, you are extremly lucky the odds are way out there that your hitting on such small amount of buying,, amazing,,, congrats,,, j
Fed the addiction today at Walmart and pulled this. I'll gladly trade for the Willie Stargell. I'll even kick in the 4 cents difference.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason. Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason. My Pirates Collection
After reading here and other places about guys buying the Topps Value boxes and getting some decent hits I decided to see if my local Wal-Mart had any of these boxes. I bought one box and got some decent cards but the last pack of Heritage revealed this card....
Kinda makes me want to get back into Heritage after not collecting for a number of years.
Nice hits on the dual autos... I can't buy any more heritage because my luck with it is just horrid, probably bought $500 worth an never saw anything but a few refractors and green tints... Gypsy Queen on the other hand has been amazing to me.
Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing about. -Benjamin Franklin-
I hit a Red Auto and a 1962 Harmon Killebrew coin quarter card right off in my first 4 boxes at two different Targets. But lately I have been getting nothing from these boxes. My last 11 value boxes have been very ordinary.
Are they pretty easy to spot and just Heritage or a mix of Topps products?
I haven't been into a Walmart or Target in a few weeks, I take it that they are different from the old blasters. >>
The value boxes sell for 14.99 and they have (i believe) 5 packs of Topps, two packs of 2011 Heritage baseball and one pack of diamond cards that have a chrome refractor and two cards that you can use on the Topps website. Frome what I have seen some really good hits have been coming out of these boxes.
I was in Walmart today & picked up a blasted & a few gravity packs. They had some value packs still there but I passed on them, maybe I made a big boo-boo?

Based upon my rotten luck I would say all retail sucks, but from what I have seen the bonus boxes are worth the price, guy on FCB hit a Koufax. Too late to return them?
My Walmart had a total of 8 value boxes. After hitting the Robinson/Longoria dual auto I went back and tried another box and got shut out. The only thing I got in that box was a chrome. I know these boxes are hit and miss but I have heard (and experiendced) some nice hits coming from these boxes. I am going to leave the ones at my Walmart alone as I think I got the best hit of the bunch out of them.....hopefully leaving them there isnt a mistake.
