    Walt,
I busted 4 value boxes today. Nothing special. Just a few inserts.

    << <i>

<< <i>So no one else is seeing a shortage of Hobby product? I'm down to paying $89 if I want Hobby boxes, all the reasonable stuff gone. >>

remember there is a hobby glut this time of year for topps baseball products. There are a few products that are supposed to hit soon, gypsy queen and
bowman. Both will look like gold bar offerings compared to heritage. Gypsy will have 2 autos a box, while heritage will have 2 (maybe) autos a case. There
is no way hobby prices will continue at that price then. If you can wait a little longer prices should fall.

Anyone notice that in the 15 dollar/2 hobby pack boxes that there have been NO green chromes?? If these were just normal hobby packs there would be some green
refractors in them, but this looks like a different (and better) run. Anyone else bust any 15 dollar value boxes? >>

A little off topic, but is anyone here doing the Topps Gypsy Queen this year? I do Allen & Ginter and Heritage, but Gypsy Queen also maybe too much.

Stopped by Target this afternoon and picked up 10 gravity fed packs and one "3 pack + black" blister. Not too bad, one red tint, one GU, 3 SP's. As I was grabbing the gravity packs, a store employee was re-stocking product. He took some retail packs that were left in a retail box and stuck them in the gravity box, presumably to make room for his new stock. So the question is, what is the difference between the gravity packs and retail packs?

Also, there must really be a ton of Heritage out there. My pull of chromes have been very limited compared to previous years.

Gypsy Queen looks good, I think we are talking about $1200 a case. I might pull the trigger. Geordie, you selling?

Only Green Tints in regular retail packs, no Blue/Reds. easy to tell the difference, just read the odds on the back of the pack

Great point on the green refs. The hobby packs in the value boxes are from a different run indeed.

needless to say I spent the night wondering what treasures were hidden behind those cardboard flaps......so I had to pull out the plastic and buy them when I left at 7 this morning. when I got home I opened them and found:

Picked up 2 topps value packs today at Target and pulled a Tom Parsons Red autograph. Bought 11 other gravity packs that I think were opened and picked. Some packs only had 7 cards. I knew better to buy loose packs and now know even better. Still feel lucky though to pull a red auto.

so you pulled a red ink in just four packs, not so big, autos are jumping out of packs this year. cases are yielding 40-50 autos per and a retail box
usually gets you 1-2 blue ink and a good shot at a red.

Ive opened probably over 400 packs and have pulled zero blue inks and one red ink, but then again I think I was just unlucky.

Posted this on another board but I wanted to show off my latest pickup here!

There have been some incredible cards listed since 2011 Heritage came out, including patches which make their first appearance in Heritage this year (on the Clubhouse Collection dual relics /62.) I am planning on a big cross-country move coming up in a day or two, and I haven't been able to pick up quite as much as I would have liked to. I still have my fair share of neat cards from other years, but I'm really dragging in the 2011 department. Hoping I will be able to start picking up the slack once I get settled again.

That being said, when I saw this card listed, I really hoped my bid would be enough, and I was thrilled to win it.

    image

If you look at the top of the card, instead of saying "Topps Certified Autograph Issue," it simply says "Player Sample." I had never seen a player sample autograph prior to 2010, and I have only ever seen 4 of them total, and now I own three of those 4. I was the underbidder on a Bobby Malkmus Player Sample, but the Castro now sits next to these two:

    image

    image

As you can see, the 2011 Player Samples are MUCH more subtle. I am assuming the players were told they could keep it, but apparently some didn't want it and returned it. I know for sure that the Castro was pulled from a pack (the seller said the same pack had a stamp /62), but I'm not sure on the others. However they were issued I love these cards because of the rarity and unique nature of them, and they fit in great with my Heritage collection. I am guessing that only one exists of each, but who knows. The code on the back ends in "22" which is the same as the regular Real One autographs in 2011.

Here's another 2011 auto for comparison, so be on the lookout for Player Samples, and send them my way when you find them!

I just received a lot of 2011 Heritage chrome cards including C58, which looks like a refractor and says "REFRACTOR" over the number but is serial numbered 0015/1962. Anyone else have anything similar? I also have a chrome, C14, which is numbered both 0930/1962 and 1434/1962. More Topps outstanding quality control?

quality control is bad in a lot of places, not just topps.....I work nights part time stocking shelves at a local grocery store and it's amazing that you'll get 12 box cases with 11 items in them, 6 box cases with five....QC is bad in a lot of places....

If that were the plan Joerdie an index card would have been much cheaper.

As promised earlier, here are my best pulls/purchases from this Heritage season. The first two were pulled from retail blasters (all that I opened this year). Nothing too special but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Since this is first year I didn't pull a HOFer relic nor an auto, I had to go the 'Bay for these two. I love the Jackie and the auto is Jorge's uncle, by the way.

Thanks again to all the great traders that helped me complete my set this year.

    Until 2012!
