Chapter 7 ..... A little of everything.

First ...... Thanks to all the Positive folks
2nd ....... This chapter really shows me just what a poor photographer I am!
OK ......... In no particular order .......
This is a 1993 gold bar struck on an original press at the Carson City mint.
I really do not know much about these. As I understand it, around 50 gold and 500 silver of these were made
in 1993 & 94 and sold in the gift shop. I miss a silver bar of the same make a few years ago.
If anyone knows more about these ( or anything else shown here ) Please post in!
I pixs this bar a while ago. This is a PAMP 1/2 oz. silver bar of Mecca.
[The finger print has since been removed.]
Now for a neat & tough set. This is the 1969 Eagles Nest silver set. It was made by the
Eagles Nest silver co. in Walla Walla, Washington. I do not know the # of sets surviving.
1/4 , 1/2 , 1 , 2.5 , 5 and 10 oz. silver "bars"
Now .... This is not bragging, but I have / have handled 1000's of Engelhard Prospectors
and this is the only Canadian Engelhard Prospector in the Engelhard box that I have found!
Notice that it is dateless ..... Possible prototype?
Several years ago, the lady & I took a road trip to Glacier National Park, and then
wandered up to Banff, Canada ... then down into Northern Idaho to do a little
prospecting/metal detecting. Found these 4 nuggets for a total weight of 6.19 oz.
( the quarters are for size comparison. )
This little 10 oz. button is about as thick as 1/2 a roll of 1/2 dollars. Just sum'n different.
Nothing rare ........ just a few different sizes of Credit Suisse silver bars.
My latest passion is the Degussa bars ..... I could just kick myself for NOT picking up
some of the bars I have seen over the years. I don't have many buttttt .....
Oh well ... the search goes on ....
And now for the real crown jewel of the accumulation ...
This is an Engelhard Executive Desk set from 1983 featuring a Proof example of
the 1 oz. Silver, 4 sizes of Gold and the 1 oz. Platinum Prospector. I cannot tell you
how RARE ( yes, I used the "R" word ) this set is. I, of course, do not know how many of these were
made ....... but I would be willing to bet it was between 1 and 12 !!
A few finishing thoughts.
I have been an avid coin collector most of my life, and I still am. Over the last few years
I have sold much of my coin collection and have been putting the proceeds into metals.
At first it was just common bullion ... the most for the least. Now, I really enjoy looking for the
unusual bars. I find it to be a lot more fun for several reasons. 1 - NO BID SHEETS. I get sooooo
tired of dealer sheet diving every time you ask a price. 2 - You get a lot of value for the money.
Let's face it .... the way metals have preformed over the last few years .... hard for a simple little
guy like me to have done much better. 3 - And this brings me to my last thought... without getting
political .... IF things go as I expect .... financially ..... world wide ..... every $ put into metals today
will return to you so many times over. I will not make exact spot predictions ..... but all I will say is ...
KEEP ON STACK"N !!!!
Hope most of you have enjoyed these chapters. Until next time ....
(If I manage to find anything else neat, I will post it on the Friday metal porn post.)

Nice Prospectors!
Heck, those Eagles Nest bars are pretty impressive, too! Pretty, and impressive.
And there's something about those Degussas.
Like I said - quite motivatin'.
I knew it would happen.

The pro built round is still being made if I recall. It was some company that was making them and seeing if there was a demand. I wish I could remember the company but it was a large company that was thinking of selling pm's on their website. I'd have to dig around to find out the info.
Great collection.

Thanks for the next chapter. I would like to see a chapter just for the credit suisse when it is more complete.
<< <i>Love the Eagles Nest. I would like to own one someday. But I refuse to pay the high premiums on it. >>
Agreed. That's my favorite set of silver out there, but every time I have seen a set offered, the premium has kept
me out of the running. I'd love to own a set one of these days.
Plus I really LOVE Walla Walla sweet onions.

My sentiments exactly. Thanks for sharing, Sire!
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
I actually have several of these sets. I purchased the set in the pix just a few weeks ago
at a small show for $350.00. The set before this one, I picked up at the summer F.U.N. show
for $400. I have seen them offered for $1k!!
As an aside ....... I can only guess that they sold the 1/4, 1/2 & 1 oz. as singles ....
only because I do have several of the fractionals as well .... and I just don't think
that many sets were broken.
In a Bit!

<< <i>awesome chapters ...the Canadian prospector is amazing! >>
Agree on both accounts. If I were still collecting eccentric bullion, I would have at least 3 or 4 SIZABLE offers on the way to Mr. Baron on that prospector....all of which im sure would be rejected! Great series of threads on a fantastic collection!
<< <i>SB you have quite the collection and it was very informative. Thanks much for sharing! >>
Totally agree. Great collection. If you get any new types or designs, be sure to update your threads so we can all vicariously follow the progress on your collection.
