Nothing annoys me in coinage. My life may not be so great, but it's not bad enough where I have to get annoyed about that sort of thing.
With that said, I have almost no use for NCLTs. IF they didn't list what their metal content was on the coin, I would have no problem with them and would probably collect them, but since they list their metal content...I have little to no interest in them.
Like many have posted, I am not particularly annoyed by any coin. I guess I'd have to go with something modern though, like the state quarters. The only reason they annoy me is that there are so many of them on Ebay when I am searching newly listed PCGS coins.
I never realized there were so many Barber coin haters out there. More for me! I LOVE Barbers and Liberty nickels!

California fraction gold pieces. The series has been over promoted to death, and there are too many copies and issues that were made to fool or sell to collectors.
I also don’t have much use for the First Lady gold coin series. Many of those women didn’t do much in history and don’t deserve to have coin made for them. It is an unjustified series that collectors can easily ignore. To a lesser extent the same could be said for the Presidential dollar series. Most of the coins are unattractive, and some of the presidents don’t deserve a commemorative coin. If you want to learn about the presidents, revive the “young collectors” presidential medal set that the mint sold years ago.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
There are a few coins that I don't care for...but ANNOY???? I would have to say the Agustus Humbert 50 dollar slug would be annoying. Could you imagine a pocket full of those weighty little bricks!

Is that true? I have several of them and seen tons and never saw toning like this on any coin before except a raw leather toned walker I bought off of ebay. That coin spent years in an old leather couch.
Any of the small dollars (SBA, Sacs, Prexies) Annoy me because we have NO GOOD reason to make billions of them! If we could convince our good lawmakers to ditch the paper dollar, I would no longer be annoyed by them.

Good interpretation of the question.
Those who feel annoyed by coins they don't collect must feel some sort of incompleteness because they don't collect them all. Makes perfect sense since the stronger your Obsessive Compulsive tendencies, the more likely you are to collect. So I will refrain from criticizing people for feeling this way.
I'll aswer this way: for me, in US coins, the older the better.
I'm most annoyed (wrong word, I'd use indifference) by this year's coins, and from now going back to 1982 and then 1964, there's very little I appreciate
things get a little better before the 1937-47 period, improve before 1891, then after a long stretch sitting down, things improve a lot in 1836

Is that a coin series? The commem silver dollar with Crispus Attucks annoys me. Political correctness run amuck. If he were white, would he have ever gotten recognized on a coin? I sure doubt it.

All the coins I should have bought but didn't. All the coins I shouldn't have bought but did. State quarters. Handful of change back that includes a canadian quarter. Mumu's avatar coin. (kidding, kidding) Oh, and this coin of Keets. This coin annoys me every time I see because it is so freakin cool. (Keets, erickso1 rhymes with carrots and gun if you have a song with that line in it.)

Replace Franklins with Mercs and you hav my list of favoriute series lol. See someone will always dislike what you like, no offense taken!
Coins with dead presidents on them pretty much accounts for all of the really ugly coins that annoy me.
