<< <i>So you are cool with people getting worked up over the fact that Pujols has fans that adore him as a ball-player and respect his charitable work, but no one can bring up the fact that he has never done anything to garner any hate? Explain how that makes sense, please.

I don't think people "hate" Pujols. I know I certainly do not. I think he is one of the best players of our generation and, according to what I read on these boards, maybe one of the best human beings ever. What I find annoying are the people that just seem to live and breath Pujols, do not accept the possibility that ANYTHING negative could EVER be attributed to him, and basically get overly defensive at any hint of negativity about the guy. When people start a thread about "investing" in vintage cards it seems like half the time one of you jock sniffers comes in with "there's only one guaranteed investment... buy one of the rare Pujols rookie cards...." Going on for pages analyzing the guys signature to death. Or one of my favorites was when a certain unnamed Pujols fanatic bought some special bat that was the actual bat used when Pujols got the "record" for most home runs by a rookie, during the month of April, in a leap year, during the modern era, when a Republican was in office... or some such "record." Who cares! I could go on. It's just exhausting. Root for your player, enjoy him, build your shrines, do whatever you like doing, but ease up on the rest of us. Just treat him like he is human, only slightly better than the rest of all pro athletes, and don't get so defensive. Then we won't have these threads so often. >>

I think you have me confused with someone else. I have never once done or said ANY of the things you wrote about, nor do I collect Pujols. I just know a little about him and have never heard anything but good things. I know he's not perfect, but neither is any person or athlete. I never said he was perfect. So when you say "one of you jock sniffers", as if I have ever done what you said, you are being completely out-of-line. Your anti-Albert Pujols fan diatribe is weak... sorry. You just come across as whiny. If you are going to whine about something, whine about something that actually matters instead of your hatred of a baseball player's fans. Just weak.

Thanks for bringing your trainwreck of this thread full circle by describing your defense of your own comments about theczar purportedly bashing Pujols.

Also, to comment on whether theczar is an alt account of mine, I'll let you do your own research on the subject. He and I have had a few dustups in the past and have rarely seen eye-to-eye. To even suggest that he and I are the same person just goes to prove that you do nothing but shoot from the hip with your inaccurate theories. Next time take better aim and you might hit something.

Once again I find myself in the sad position of agreeing with something Lee said.

I had pretty much forgotten about this thread after I made my prediction. I'm sorry I didn't keep up. It was definitely an entertaining read.

Can I ask a simple question?

Why is it that virtually all of the Pujols supporters (pun intended Fandango) are so vehement in defending him in the face of baseless accusations? If your idol is so squeaky clean and such a God fearing and family loving man (as you all insist that you KNOW he is), wouldn't he be alarmed and insulted by your childish reactions and rude and hurtful replies? Where's the love?

I really tire of hearing how some of you act like Pujols is your best friend and that you know that he poured 2% low fat milk dated to expire on June 5th over his Frosted Flakes this the morning while his wife did yesterday's light laundry after you dropped off an extra bottle of Tide w/ Bleach and brought in the morning paper.

The guy is a talented athlete. No one disputes that. Perhaps one of the greatest right handed hitters of the last few generations. But the obsession that some of you have with him no longer borders on fandom, but more along the lines of the character DiNiro played in The Fan... You guys are really wrapped way too tightly to be taken seriously.

Love how Fandango has to send me a PM to tell me I'm a hater and I'm jealous. I guess simple concepts like comprehension and understanding are lacking in both his vocabulary and in his real life practice.

Why is it that unless you rave about the virtues and greatness of Pujols to the point of being a borderline psychotic, you're classified as a hater.

I'd suggest that he reread my post, but I doubt that he'd understand the message contained within it as he demonstrated, via his PM, that he's as guilty as all of the others with what I said about their fanatical and blind love for the man. They just can't understand ANYTHING anyone says that doesn't fit their juvenile and preconceived belief in the facts. Your judgments and accusations are exactly what I pointed out in my post. Since it may be too difficult for you to scroll while holding your Pujols cards, I'll repost it for you . . .

But, I also predicted a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award in addition to the stats (we both had the AS selection right):

    39 HR - .323 AVG - 121 RBI - 111 Runs - 12 SB (All Star selection, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove)

Don't forget he mentioned bonus points for post season awards . . . image

Maybe we can call it a tie and have the card cut in half. Wouldn't that burn Fandango's britches having to desecrate a Pujols rookie?!?
