will be interesting to see what happens. He's having the worst month of his career...
Albert Pujols, 1B STL News: Albert Pujols has no RBI in nine games and he is just a few more towering popups or infield choppers from having his average drop below .300. No wonder the frustration is showing at times for a player who's always made production look easy. "Myself and Matt (Holliday), we're the big guys," Pujols said. "Sometimes when we're not producing runs or swinging the bat the way we want, we kind of want to carry the whole ballclub ourselves, and it can't happen that way." The team is confident Pujols will work his way out of it. He always does. Pujols has a solid string of .300s with 100 RBI and 30 homers since breaking into the majors in 2001. "I think people get accustomed to seeing such a high level of performance that whenever there's a little dip, people start to panic," general manager John Mozeliak said. "I'm not one of them. I think he'll be fine." Pujols' walks to strikeouts ratio is usually around 2-1, but not this year so far with 31 walks and 24 strikeouts, although he's adamant he hasn't expanded his strike zone. Instead, he believes it's because at times he hasn't seen the ball as well as in the past.
Pujols is not doing very well at all -- perhaps just a slump. But he is soon being replaced by Stephen Strasburg in terms of potential and value!
It will be interesting to see if Pujols gets frustrated and it further impacts his performance, or if he'll be able to organize his emotions, calm down, and start performing as his previous meteoric levels. If he fails to hit .300 this year or smack at least thirty home runs, it will be a [significant] crank in his armor. We shall see.

Do you think it has anything to do with McGwire as hitting coach? Personally, I think it's just a typical slump... he needs to get himself a fat chick.

Apparently you don't know much about Albert Pujols. The guy is a very giving and caring person, so to say this garbage is pure inane speculation. If you are going to slight a player, at least slight him by pointing out things he has done, not by pointing out what YOU think he would do. That's just making crap up and it's completely lame.

You probably thought Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods were good family men, that Ben Roethlisberger would be someone that you would like to visit your sisters sorority, Jim Leyritz and Tony LaRussa would be good guys to drive you home and that it was Michael Irvins cousin who left the crack pipe in the back seat.

Your little girls squeal over this guy are nauseating. Here are the facts. No major college offered him a scholarship. He went to a Community College and went in the 13th round amatuer draft and over 400 players went before him. In todays world where they can find some guy in South America living in a hut or some stud in Asia this guy goes in the middle of the country goes under the radar? Maybe Roy Hobbs, but that was book.

Good god, don't give Fandango any ideas. He'll stake out Pujols route from home to the stadium and spend every day sitting on the side of the road with his hood up, waiting for benevolent Albert to come to his rescue.
I can see it now:
Pujols: Hey buddy, looks like you need some help. Car overheat? Fandango: (to himself) the only thing overheated is my love for you! Fandango: (to Prince Albert) it's true! you are a good person! they said you wouldn't stop, but I knew you would! I knew it!
Pujols peels out, visions of his own John Hinckley stalking him.
Fandango: But I'm your biggest fan!! I own your game used jockstrap!! Come back Albert!!!

Why don't you dig up some dirt on Pujols instead of making up BS and asking stupid unanswerable questions about "what would he do in this situation?". You sound like a fool. Go ahead, I implore you to find something on Albert Pujols that puts him in a different light other than being a charitable man who spends a lot of his time flying to his home-country to help their causes and putting on dances for autistic/mentally handicapped children. My friend... you need help! As a kind, caring person (for which AP may or may not actually be)... I mean that with the utmost sincerity. You really should seek out some professional help with your issues, ranting on internet message boards will not cure the things that ail you. Your rants (err, posts) scream... Help me, I hate people and I hate my life. I feel for you bro, I really do, and I hope you find assistance and joy out there somewhere. You can't honestly believe this is normal, acceptable behavior. If you really do, print out a collection of your posts... stash them in a drawer... step away from message boards for 3 months... then go back and read your writings before getting back online. I guarantee you'll frighten yourself, but I hope it might be the wake up call you most certainly need to progress as an individual. Best of luck in life!

That's easy... His point is simple...
Some people get their panties in a wad when the integrity of a sports figure gets questioned. A few years ago the same result would've happened questioning Tiger Woods' integrity. He suggests maybe a little more of that support should be put into the true heroes in the world... teachers, firemen, the military, etc.
All we've learned from the last decade is there can often be more than meets the eye with our sports heroes. However, there is no glory in being a teacher/fireman/military and yet they are the ones that actually improve society.
Emotions fly high on this forum from some members at the slightest mention of the possibility of anything negative with Pujols... that energy would be so much better placed somewhere else, because I've yet to see either side change their opinion.

Unless Pujols gives people a reason to say something negative about him, aren't the people talking him down simply wasting THEIR time when "...that energy would be so much better placed somewhere else..." And try telling me that all teachers/firemen/military are saints. I know a lot of these people, they are just like you and I, just as Albert Pujols is a person too. Talk about a waste of time, try talking down people who deserve to be talked down instead of people who haven't done anything to warrant it. Why bring up Pujols with Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant when they already exposed their true colors.

When you say things like "your lord and savior Pujols", you look like a freaking moron. I was only defending a player who has never done anything to warrant hatred towards him. Is theczar a second account of yours? Why do you continuously defend his position when he isn't even doing it. I would much rather hear what he has to say about it over your meaningless opinion on the matter. Keep up the troll, though. I am not bothered by people like you who need attention.

Hmmmmm, isn't there some saying about a pot and a kettle....
You appear to an alt for one of the Pujols jock sniffers. I am guessing STM as we havn't seen his usual cut and paste about seeing Pujols at a charity dinner, what a great guy he is, helping kids, being a good Christian, saving the world, yada, yada... so I guess you must be a STM alt. Why get so defensive because someone says something about a public figure!? You think Pujols cares what anybody (pro or con) says on some baseball card message board? I suspect he does not care in the least. If a public figure cared about every negative thing said about them on a message board they would have a long and sad life. Pujols MAY be the greatest person in the history of the world and he may be the next Tiger Woods hypocrite. We don't know. So far as he avoided any problems but alledgedly he is younger than Tiger Woods so who knows what the future holds. Either way, why get so worked up when people say something with even a hint of negativity!? They aren't talking about YOU personally.

So you are cool with people getting worked up over the fact that Pujols has fans that adore him as a ball-player and respect his charitable work, but no one can bring up the fact that he has never done anything to garner any hate? Explain how that makes sense, please.

I don't think people "hate" Pujols. I know I certainly do not. I think he is one of the best players of our generation and, according to what I read on these boards, maybe one of the best human beings ever. What I find annoying are the people that just seem to live and breath Pujols, do not accept the possibility that ANYTHING negative could EVER be attributed to him, and basically get overly defensive at any hint of negativity about the guy. When people start a thread about "investing" in vintage cards it seems like half the time one of you jock sniffers comes in with "there's only one guaranteed investment... buy one of the rare Pujols rookie cards...." Going on for pages analyzing the guys signature to death. Or one of my favorites was when a certain unnamed Pujols fanatic bought some special bat that was the actual bat used when Pujols got the "record" for most home runs by a rookie, during the month of April, in a leap year, during the modern era, when a Republican was in office... or some such "record." Who cares! I could go on. It's just exhausting. Root for your player, enjoy him, build your shrines, do whatever you like doing, but ease up on the rest of us. Just treat him like he is human, only slightly better than the rest of all pro athletes, and don't get so defensive. Then we won't have these threads so often.

Albert Pujols, 1B STL
News: Albert Pujols has no RBI in nine games and he is just a few more towering popups or infield choppers from having his average drop below .300.

If you are going to slight a player, at least slight him by pointing out things he has done, not by pointing out what YOU think he would do. That's just making crap up and it's completely lame.
And how would you know this about being a giving and caring person? Has he paid your mortgage? Has he sent you some Omaha steaks? Has he stopped for you when your car broke down in the rain? Allow me to ask again--HOW WOULD YOU KNOW THIS?
You probably thought Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods were good family men, that Ben Roethlisberger would be someone that you would like to visit your sisters sorority, Jim Leyritz and Tony LaRussa would be good guys to drive you home and that it was Michael Irvins cousin who left the crack pipe in the back seat.
Idolize your local firefighter, the kid who signed up to go Afghanistan, the teacher who makes $36,000 and spends too many hours to count assisting children. She also spends her own money on school supplies.
Where there is smoke there is fire.
Maybe Roy Hobbs, but that was book.

here is a news flash for you junior, if your car was broken down on the side of the road in the rain do you think pujols would stop for you? if a member of your family was in peril and you could not help them but pujols could do you think he would risk his life to help them?

You sound pathetic bashing a person who doesn't deserve to be bashed... absolutely pathetic.

Where, exactly, was he bashing Pujols? As far as I saw, he was offering facts (not theories).

LOL WOOOWEEE WEEEWOOOW!!! SUPER important stuff being discussed right there. What do these facts have to do with ANYTHING???

Ironic.
Also, I didn't make any wild-eyed interpretations of his intent. You've already acknowledged and agreed that he offered facts as I suggested he did.
You, on the other hand, flatly stated that he was bashing Pujols. I've asked you to point out exactly where he did that, but you were unable to support your argument (as usual).
You're a tard.
<< <i>Just as I thought, talking out your butt. Ever going to explain what you think he was trying to get across? TICK TOCK >>

The guy picked the WRONG guy to use as an example. Pujols is a very charitable and caring individual, and until proven otherwise, should be treated as such.
