Man, you guys are killing me. The recent posts are amazing - lots of great coins. Thanks for putting them on the list. I dream about getting a few coins in the AU 58 range someday. I have about 10 years of raising my daughters to survive before I can begin to think about those, though...
I did get to 101 die marriages, however, so am preparing for a BHNC application. YES! zap
I like the 1813 o-107 there.....question for variety experts here, where is the line drawn between the 107 and 107a ? What are the present rarity ratings for the two varieties ?

I am not sure at all if there is a line...have not seen any that are "in between" 107 and 107A. We are currently taking a survey to see how many "Prime" die states are out there (without any obverse cracks).
The 107 is believed to be R4, the 107A is an R1, making the DM an R1 overall. The Prime state may be R6.
<< <i>I love this one. PCGS VF 35. Cool toning and loads of luster for a 35.
>>
Great looking XF45 1829 CBH, LVGT!!!! They don't come any nicer than that lustrous toned lady!!! The reverse is just wonderful!!! Great strike to boot!!!.....not to mention the colors!!!
Thanks Goldbully. It is conservatively graded, but that's OK with me!
Dave / Ankur...nice to see some great 1819's. It seems as though the 1819 & 1822 dates are tougher to locate.
Here is a coin that I just recently received from Mike Printz. It was part of the "Tallahasse Collection" that he is selling off. I had been looking for an 1818 for some time and jumped on this one immediately. It is the pinchers variety and one sweet coin. This was my first experience with Mike. He is excellent to deal with.
...it's difficult to fathom people spending coins like this for day to day transactions in commerce a couple hundred years ago, but this is a pcgs xf45 and clearly a spent coin.
Here is an O.107 R3. A pretty example of a tough year. It has booming luster with just a hint of toning at the periphery. An EDS obverse is paired with a shattered reverse. Lance.
Thanks very much Jim..... although I had never seen that thread before, it is exactly what I had in mind...... It is a very old thread (back in the day when folks still believed that those "die defects" were caused by a screw or a bolt)..... I had wondered why there is only a 109 and 109a, when there are very obviously three distinct stages of this tilted die clash.
Here is a wonderful VF20. There is nice baby blue toning toning on this coin that I couldn't bring out in the pics. Some traces of luster. All I could ask for in a VF20.
<< <i>Wow. Lance, Great additions to your set BTW. Are you photographing all the coins for Sheridan? >>
Thanks, for noticing!
I shot images for the 50 coins Sheridan's auctioning. He wanted those to build a brochure. He has lots more for sale that he didn't feel he needed pictures of. I was lucky to get three of them.

I've only recently started collecting Capped Bust Half Dollars, but I like them a lot. Here are a couple that I've had photographed, both which have been previously posted in other threads. Photos are courtesy of BluCCphotos.com.
Au55. Luster Doesn't show well I the pics. Honestly It could be stronger for a 55, but that's ok, it came with the paper envelope the coin had been in for a very long time.

More golden luster in the fields then the image shows.
Lots of defined detail on the eagle.
When I opened the envelope....I simply said, WOW!"
Thanks NEN!!!!!
I just wondered if all of these half dollars were to go in one auction? The coin
collecting community and dealers would go absolutely crazy. We would see
prices that would amaze the coin fraternity. Very well done indeed!

Great looking 1837, jom.
Really nice 1817 Lance.
Could some of you bust moguls post some different stages of 1812 O-109a please?

LVGT, could your 1822 be any more "original?"

GeorgeKellogg, love the color on your 1818 and also look on your 1828, congrats on some very nice busties.
Here is a recent purchase for me, 1818 O-111 PCGS 58 Ex. Meyer, but has the surfaces, luster, etc of a 62-63 IMO.
