Your 1/4 and 1/2 oz Engelhard rounds are from 1985....thats the only year of the fractionals. They also came in 1/10th size that year. This is the 1st time I have seen these 1986 "Everest" rounds. Might be a decent play even at $20/oz.
Edited to add: The 1/4oz rounds sell for around 2-3x melt, and the 1/2oz rounds sell for 2x melt easy.
I went ahead and picked these up since I've never seen them before. Maybe I can hype them up on eBay and get $30-$40 each . Anyone want one for $25 lol

<< <i>I have seen them a few times before.......
I have NO idea of the mintage or why they were even minted...
[i.e. Engelhard's idea or for some customer.]
If that is a "TM" mark after the " EVEREST" then it may have been for a customer.
Gift shop item?
Can anyone read what it says along the base of the mountain? >>
I couldn't make it out. I will post better pics when they arrive

They were both sold and used as employee rewards.
I have no idea of the mintage..... like most Engelhard items.
The " Compatible Multilayer Materials " is refering to the multilayer construction of their clothing....
NOT the composition of the round.

Most of Engelhard's metals were not made " Pretty ".
I believe that these were made for industrial delivery.
Only a VERY SMALL amount of silver was made for retail / public sale.
As for being collectable ...... each to his own ..... just not for me.
