Like I said before, the first will just be for checking the market. $60+ a piece is ok with me. Ambro, I must have not paid any attention to that return thing. I do accept returns on slabbed coins but just missed that on these ones.

...as long as people are accepting 'no returns' .....Id let that one slide on these.

OK......I'm sending mine in. Question for ya: do you have to tell ANACS which variety it is......or do they figure it out on their own?

    Thanks.......

  • << <i> OK......I'm sending mine in. Question for ya: do you have to tell ANACS which variety it is......or do they figure it out on their own? >>

$10 + $5 if you ID the variety add $5 for them to figure it out
  • The 65 is about right $60-70. The 66 should have been closer to 100.00 maybe just north like 110.00 imho.

My thinking is that the market will settle somewhere in this range in the near future especially when the promo guys start pumping them up.

Just keep in mind that it's not just a 65 or 66 or 67 we are talking about, the actual DDR on the coin matters too. The 65 was a CDDR-002 which is why it got almost as much as the ms66 CDDR-001.
Pitboss having 18 of the CDDR-002's at ms67 could be the real money ones. The CDDR-001's on the other hand at ms67 will probably get the same as the CDDR-002 in ms66. IMHO

What does a 67 look like? Spot free and bag mark free? Or can it have one bag mark?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

If I knew how to put one up, I would. I am not very computer literate.

Figuring the way promo guys run then they should be around 200 give or take a few. Depends on how ez anacs is with 67's. Looks like theyre giving them out like candy unless you sent in 1k coins or so.

So I have unopened boxes dated
    4/15
    4/22
    4/23
    4/28

I'm having a hard time muddling through all the back and forth - can someone tell me what each date is worth or selling for?

Those dates can be had for around $25 inc. shipping

The 4/28's maybe a tad more but I have opened 5 of those and 4 had NADA. The other one had a good assortment 001/002/004

  • << <i>Looks like theyre giving them out like candy unless you sent in 1k coins or so. >>

So an experienced collector cherrypicks 80 coins and sends them in getting 35 67's....That's "giving them out like candy"???

If you sent in 80 random Lincolns I bet you would get maybe 5 67's (or less)
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I went through those pretty carefully. I did expect to get some 68's out of those but am very happy with the 67's. I went through a lot of coins to get 80 to send in. I will put a set on ebay today and a set on BST right now. I am still having trouble getting a good picture though.

Not to mention I sent in those 5 from my little hoard and only got 1 ms67. Not saying I am the best at grading but I think I know what not to waste my money on. If these coins were minted better then I would say the 67's were a cake walk but we know better than that.

Depends on how large his sample group he picked from was. I've seen a lot of formative Lincolns and have seen very few I would call 66 let alone 67. I could see maybe 35 coming from a sample group of 1k coins since these are so nasty.
And yes anacs seems to be a lil weak on copper from what I've seen of their formative coins so far.

I went through over 400 coins! Picked out only the best and thought some should have graded higher,

I also think ANACS did a very good job on grading these.

Meybe you got a nice sampling to pick from. Most that I have seen are overall pretty dinged & I see a lot of 64-65 coins but few higher. I would think yours should bring a pretty good premium, and I have always thought anacs does a pretty good job overall. Wasnt a knock on 67's just that after picking through a few thousand havent seen any ultra gems in the ones I've been looking through. Thats non error coins included!
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I too have seen many bad coins in this particular run of coins and agree that there will not many great coins to come out. Maybe I am asking too low a price for mine.

...and you have seen, ummm, TWO! (on Ebay) unless you have sent and rec'd a bunch yourself

Where else have you seen ANACS graded Formative cents??

edited to add: I was referring to the DDR's...Obviously ANACS has graded non-DDR Formative cents

I picked through a ton of formatives graded by pcgs, ngc, and anacs (non ddr labelled of course) picking ddr coins at a couple regional shows & chicago midamerica. The anacs seemed to be a lil higher graded on average, but most are on the money. Picked up some non attributed in all 3 of the companies holders. Bought a few slabbed anacs rolls with ddr's showing on the end! Just playing with these at the moment. I havent sent a group in for grading of the ddr's, but have some in holders and some raw. Not enough to worry over though.

I'm wondering how many of these LP2 sets remain unopened.

If 60% of these have been opened searching for DDRs, then the unopened quantity would be almost equal to the entire LP1 sales.

If the percentage opened is higher, unopened LP2 sets would now be scarcer than LP1.

    Thoguhts?

That's IF nobody has busted open any of the 96,000 LP1's. A few of them have gotten to be opened by now, possibly the ones that people bought for only $8.95 each. I know I would have if I would have bought the max of 5 per household, why not.

    FWIW

I separated about 10% (10 of 93) of the double thumb and 20% (7 of 30) of the sixth finger DDR's
that I think will grade 66 or better.

Pitboss' 80 is reasonable in a 300 sample

His eye has gotta be better than mine.

Send me a link to your auctions if you would be so kind. Or post it here.

I'm interested to see what they bring & might bid myself. I'm starting to play with these a lil.

You have to really work the lighting with a micro camera. I am still learning myself.

  • Call me old school. I use a 16x loupe set against my cameras lense by hand. Set the camera at 8x
    steady.....steady.....fire!
Works well on raw stuff. With slabs you have to get the right angle or diffusion for your light so the slab doesnt reflect the walls of the loupe. dinolite? Should buy one, but I'll wait till my hands arent steady enough. The focal length is a very small window so it will be a lot of trial and error before you get it right.

Just dont drink caffeine before attempting this!

No problem! I changed the wording in the title a little. Do you see anything else I should do to attract attention? How about price?
  • Weird....I tried searching for: 2009 Lincoln ANACS DDR
    2009 Lincoln Cent DDR ANACS
2009 Lincoln Cent Formative DDR ANACS

    and got ...... nothing!

That is how I search .......Could be a major issue with getting the auctions seen
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

Yes, Casman was nice enough to correct me on this. It now reads;2009 lincoln cent formative error ddr anacs ms67 set and the same for the 66 set. I also have put"featured item" on both of them. Thank you, I need all the help I can get.
  • I did the search AFTER you put in the title changes and I got ZERO matches

Now that you added "Featured Item" I get both sets....should have got them without the feature thing though

Since there are no other graded DDR's, going to the top of your own coins seems pointless.... but if it gets you search results then it is worth it
  • CasmanCasman Posts: 3,935 ✭✭
I'm showing them with every search variation I run, pulling up everytime, everywhere, I'd say he nailed it, the featured is a great move especially with a 30 day list, why hide the stuff 20 pages back...image

LP2 sets are backordered at the Mint. They couldn't tell me whether all orders would be filled. And they new design goes on sale 8/14.

Do you think they'll cancel all backorders?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

That would be a big YES!
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I opened 2 more boxes of 4/30 today. One box contained 6 WDDR 002 and 4 WDDR 001's but the other box had only small errors that I do not even save at this point.
  • PapiPapi Posts: 1,189 ✭✭
There seems to be no pattern as to what boxes have DDRs and which don't.

  • << <i>There seems to be no pattern as to what boxes have DDRs and which don't. >>

A couple of weeks ago I would have disagreed with that statement but after striking out on 3 4/30's and 4 4/28's I would now agree with it.

The only safe statement is that after, oh say 5/6, there are very few major finds

Excellent ! Good luck. I wish I had the cash to get mine graded. $15 a pop plus shipping, and the quantity I have, Yikes!!!

So, what do I look for in a 67? No bag marks, no spots?
