Yes, I picked up that 03 from your guy. Thank you, I owe you one for that hook up! I'd love to grab that 99 for sale too. That would put me 1 card short of completion on his Basic topps.

Good stuff, glad you were able to snag it. I'm thinking about busting some 07 and 09 for Maddux so I can try and sub a ten. I just don't think there is going to be any other way to get'em. As for the 01 Topps, well we just got done with a series one set break trying to get the Ripken and out of my two boxes I got one Ripken #1, and it had some gold transfer on it that will kept it from going to psa, so I'm torn on weather I want to try for the Maddux. I need series II to complete my set, so it'll just take me breaking down and buying a couple boxes to see what I come up with.

I hadn't been on in awhile, was moving and blah blah blah. Still had to take time and say that it's great to hear that the Braves are retiring Maddux's number. I just wish we would have done it before the damn Cubs! I mean they got to enjoy his 300th win and then they beat us to the punch on the number retiring. That's just crazy. Well at least we wont have to worry about beating out the Mets or Red Sox when it comes time to retire Glavine and Smoltz number's!

It was a great night in Atlanta. Great ceremony followed by an 11-0 thumping of the Mets (Good Lord they are awful now.) Anyway, Maddux will check into Cooperstown wearing his #31 Braves jersey, not the ugly blue Cubbie pinstripes. Who cares if his 300th was in Chicago?

Yep, the whippin' the Mets got was so sweet! I like to move of Church for Francouer. Church has offered a lot more recently than Jeff. I'd like to see us make a run at the East again! The Phils will be though, but forget them!

Hey guys, I see that BJ allowed that 2009 Maddux Topps card to his master set, but was that the right thing to do? He didn't play 1 minute of the 2009 season. Wouldn't that open the door to a bunch more of his 2009 cards to be added? Sure he decided to retire late and his stats are on that card but again, he didn't play in 2009. Are there other players that have cards in their master set the year AFTER they retired? I actually own 1 of the 2009 Topps psa 10s that I'm talking about and I still hope they remove it from the set. What are your thoughts?

Tony! It's good to see the unquestioned king of Maddux card collecting in the thread

Player Set rules allow for cards from a player for the year after he retires as long as they have the previous year's numbers or are produced to reflect something that happened the previous year (I think Kaline's '75 Record Breaker falls under that rubric.)

Gwynn and Ripken each have cards in the '02 sets and I'm sure some other guys do, as well.

Tony's Master Set is now a touch over 50%, all 10's. I stand in awe.

I just wanted to send out a huge thanks to Guy (board member Boopotts). He was able to get me almost 100 new Maddux psa 10's. Most of them were 1 of 1's. Maddux's that I don't already own are getting harder and harder to acquire for me so Guy really hooked me up.
If anyone else is collecting a player's master set, I recommend contacting him for help.

Bringing this thread back from the dead, because we all know why. Congrats Maddux!! I've recently started this set and picked up the 1991 Topps Desert Shield Maddux in PSA 9, so I'm excited about it! Any discussion on Maddux andor sets and cards are welcome!

I'm #3 on the Basic Set list, a shade over 50%, behind heavy hitters Tony and J.J. Toomey.

Tony's Master Set is now at 68%, all 10's. Just amazing.

I believe it is used to enter a code when playing the "Power Up game" and also redeemable for prizes. Crazy enough I came across another card that had a url that is now defunct. I'd have to imagine that back in 1998 that was quite innovative.

Something else I noticed that was interesting, the image on the back of the 1995 Summit was taken a split second from that on the front of the 1996 Score.
