The Greg Maddux Master/Basic set thread

Well sice we have returned to some Braves talk, the boys are looking go so far. Would have loved to take all three from Philly, but still, taking all I can get at this point. Still, I had a question that I wanted to ask the board. Does anyone know if there is going to be an 2009 Topps Maddux card. I figured there would be since he retired so late, I thought he might have made the cut, especially Topps knowing it would be his last card and since he has some of the greatest stats to fill up the back of his card, I thought they would do a good final card. I'm really thinking about buy some of the late 90's early 00's wax looking for Maddux and other future HOF'ers to sub and offer up to player set collectors on the board. I just haven't made the leap yet.

I have 2 nicely centered ones from a rack box I busted that are ready to sub if I can ever get the funds to sub them. If they happen to both come back 10's, you are welcome to one at a discounted price. I also have another clean rack box to bust if I ever get around to it.

Though I'm known as a Frank Thomas collector, I'm a closet Maddux, Chipper, Murphy, and Braves in general fan. I'll try to share some stuff as I find it.

I just had to say it's been slow for Greg PSA 10 Topps cards on ebay. It was really rolling there for awhile, but now it's slowed down quite a bit. If anyone has some for sale, let me know.

I have an extra 1989 Fleer For the Record Greg Maddux PSA 10. The last one that actually sold on eBay went for $45. If anyone needs one, I will sell my extra one for $25 dlvd.

I have the following that went directly from either a wax box / factory set to PSA and I am the only owner.

1998 Topps # 296 PSA 10 - 5 have been graded this is one of 2 10's
2003 Topps # 105 PSA 10 - 6 have been graded this is one of 2 10's
1991 Topps # 35 PSA 10 - 34 have been graded this is one of 17 psa 10's

What do you think. I thought this was nice because usually its a scribble/slop. This one isn't all that bad?

Up over 2% on the master set now. Only 1100 more to go, plus I have 5 PSA 10's in my registry inventory that are not included in the master set yet. How can a regular issue card (2003 Bowman Chrome comes to mind) not be part of the master set?

because no one has requested it -- and PSA had not graded one at the time that the Master Set was initially created.

I just added one of the '93 Stadium Club Members Only cards to the Master. That set is huge and always expanding.

You have requested that we add the 2009 Topps #287 to the Greg Maddux master set. Please send a scan of the front and back of the card so that we can confirm that Maddux’s 2008 stats are listed on the card.

I'm pumped about that one. I saw a pic of the 09 card. Glad to see they got one card with him in Dodger blue. I'd wish he would have finished his career off with the Braves, but hey no complaints about the way Mad Dog went out!

Sweet! Four emails so far today saying that a Maddux card was added to the master set. Now I'm almost to 2.5% with just over 1100 left to go.

Nice work! I just bought 5 cards off of the gentleman with the number one Maddux Basic Topps set. He was looking to sell, so I came in and filled a large lot of the cards I needed. Plus I picked up the 99 and 03 in a 10 from some other folks. That should put me in first with only the 01, 07 and 09 cards to go. I wish my Ripken and Sandberg sets were this easy. Still, I have to give a big thanks to Jason for contacting me and being very easy to deal with! The cards are fantastic, I couldn't be happier with them!

Nice work Bill! That is a great card, one of the tops on my list for Maddux. The overhead shot makes me think of the 1960's camera angles. Great way to finish off Maddux Topps cards!

Just had to come share my excitement today. I was able to add in the cards for the Basic Topps set that I picked up, which has put me in the top spot. Now I'm just looking to track down an 01, 07 and 09 Topps Maddux 10 and I'll have it all complete! A nice way to wrap up the weekend!
