Well, I got the letter from them that it shipped but thus far the 2 tracking numbers say "tracking number not found " and "shipper was notified"

    Don't know what's what.

  • << <i>What happened to the reverse of that last coin pictured? almost looks wire brushed. >>

Bummer. There are quite a few quality issues being reported for so few coins on this board.

I haven't gotten mine yet (ordered early on the first day)...and haven't heard anything yet.

Therefore, after much patience, I think the time has come to rip someone a new you-know-what at Mint phone central!
  • Since the complaints seem to have died down a bit now that a lot of you are getting your coins, I'll start up the ranting again. image

I called last week and was told that my coin would be shipping by the end of the week (as would ALL coins ordered on the first day). So here we are on Tuesday. No coin. No email. No hit on my credit card. I've tried to call the 800 number over a dozen times throughout the day, each time getting the same "we are unable to answer your call at this time. Please try again later" message.

I swear this is the last item I will EVER buy anything from the mint. image
  • I keep getting the same message and that is funny for an automated update system.

    Hey!

Just because I have three adult children who all live away from home with their own out of state address, can I possibly help it if at that exact moment in time, they all decided to become numismatists and ordered the UHR within the first hour?

I'm shocked, truly shocked by this allegation image

and for the record, we're batting 2 for 4.

    No word on the others

After a half hour of trying to get through to the mint and getting the canned, "we are unable to answer your call...." I finally got through to then being on hold for 20 minutes. I wanted to perform a litmus test on them. I did get an email stating the Lincoln Commems were shipped but nothing on the UHR. So when the "nice" lady answered, I asked about the Lincoln Commems (remember...they already shipped). She said it looks like they are "in process". I asked, "what does that mean?" She replied, "They should ship soon and you should get them next week."

I then asked about the UHR. She replied, "They show they should ship on 3/18." THREE EIGHTEEN!!! Of what bloody year?! image

Her wrong answer on the Lincolns leads me to just wait and see what happens this evening .....
"What we are never changes, but who we are ... never stops changing."
  • So, at the risk of asking a question that has already been answered:

what is the cutoff for FS?

    follow up:

does anyone think it will make a difference in the long term value of the coin if it gets that designation or not?

I'm obviously a newbie here, been collecting since Bicentennial days, but am now starting to go through my coins with an eye to grading and long term holding for my son. Any honest opinions are welcome.

    thanks, possum

IMRON: You should be a Mind Reader. Charge money

I called the mint to check on my subscriptions. I did not even want to ask about my UHR. My presidential proof sets have been processed. My Harrison presidential dollars have been processed. My second order of Lincoln Commemoratives have been processed. The rep asked me if i would like to know about my UHR which is in the system. I said WHY NOT? She stated it was shipped this morning would you like a tracking number? AMAZING !!! Now i have to camp out at the post office and wait.

    imageimage >>

    Congratulations Carolyn!

You are as excited as everybody was last night!

And tonight there are gonna be a lot of happy people again.

The PBGS Shipping Department worked 13 hours yesterday trying to get as many UHRs shipped as possible. Rumor has it they're working overtime again tonight.

Like I have been saying, this thread is quickly unraveling; tis a bitter sweet ending indeed.

Get ready people; the UHRs they are a comin!

Yes they are cool. I especially like that MMIX date - really adds to the classic aspect of the design.

After looking at mine off and on for a day now, I've decided the "hairlines" I thought I saw, are really die-polish lines. Might have to send it in for "First Strike" after all.

What the heck - I've already gone and renewed my PCGS Membership.

It was stated before, that email are sent in the evening.

I know I got mine at night.

So those waiting, you need to wait until tonight to see if you won the lottery.

Got mine today...........Normally I would not have opened the capsule but there was a black smear of grease on the edge that you could see with the naked eye, so I snapped a couple pics while it was out before I sent it off to be graded....

  • UPDATE:

According to an Internal Memo at PBGS dated 03/03/09, "A large percentage of customer orders will be in the mainstream by week's end." This is the 'Big Push' I've been talking about since page 100 of this thread. It appears now that their goal is to ship all 29,000 of the original minted UHRs by the end of this week which by my estimation includes all orders received by the Mint through and including Sunday, January 25, 2009. Before you go betting the farm, keep in mind that my comments herein are peppered with speculation, so govern yourselves accordingly.
  • Just checked UPS, info is now available, I should have this baby sometime tomorrow. I got my email after 10pm ET last night.

  • << <i>Well, I got the letter from them that it shipped but thus far the 2 tracking numbers say "tracking number not found " and "shipper was notified"

    Don't know what's what. >>

If it's any consolation, I received the email confirming shipment last night at 6:42, and it showed up this morning around 10:30. I checked and my credit card has not been charged yet, and there is no credit hold on it. I checked using the shipping tracking number around 9am this morning and I got the status "tracking number not found".
The coin does have some small raised polishing marks in the upper fields between 12 and 3 o'clock, and some light traces on the upper left fields. I'm filling out the PCGS submission form and it will go out today. I don't expect a superior 70 grade, but a 69 will be welcomed. image

  • Hi, I'm waiting on my coin to arrive tomorrow. I'm hoping and wishing the rest of you get an email blast tonight that your UHR is on the way. What a mess this situation is!

I have two letters written and ready to go tomorrow, one is for Timothy Geithner, Secretary Dept of the Treasury and the other is for Andrew Brunhart, works for the Mint. I'm going to explain to these guys what they have caused and to terminate the Pitney-Bowes contract!

    My UHR arrived today. Order number 30829XXX, placed 1/22 @ 12:35 p.m.

My father and my brother placed orders for me a few minutes later and have not received theirs yet.

$1850 on Ebay - to flip one or not to flip, that is the question!

I can't believe that the U.S. Mint brochures are selling for $5!! You could get them by the handful at the Balto. show where the URH display was last year!!!

Jim Cramer on CNBC mentioned "us mint web site is good" on his CNBC show "Mad Money" tonight

It will re-air tonight at 11pm eastern tonight.

He has been recommending buying gold recently and now has added silver to the mix (ETFs). though, I think I recall, saying if people buy physical... go Canadian. not sure how this meshes with is "us mint web site" comment.

although, I will mention he has had Pitney Bowes (ticker: PBI) CEO on the show.

have a watch and a laugh.

Quick, question. If sending my UHR in for grading and First Strike designation, does it need to stay in the unopened box, that I received it in from the mint?

if you can get it to pcgs with a postmark by march 11, then just send the capsulized coin.
