Great job everyone. All the best to Tim's wife. Hopefully this will help them a tiny bit with the enormous grief they must be feeling. But this is an amazing tribute to the holiday giving spirit...especially in this economy. I'll toss back an egg nog brandy for this board tonight.
  • Great job by everyone. I wish I could see Erin's face when she's sees not only the amount, but "From Who!?"

    What a great job.
  • Thanks again everyone. The cards I "sold" are packaged and will be mailed today.

Stopping over from the coin forum to wish all of you who organized, publicized or donated items or cash to this cause a very Merry and blessed Christmas. You should be proud of what you have done. It won't erase the family's grief, but it will let them know that Tim Mastin was well-liked and respected, and will be missed by a lot of people.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Hopefully we'll find another good cause. One that won't bring so much grief upon the sponsor.

Thanks for a great cause during the giving season Craig.

I hear the boys have started a high grade 1914 Cracker Jack set, so that's a good place to start.

This is why I seldom, if ever, participate in charitable things over the internet. I fully understand the emotions that led everyone to open their hearts and contribute in the first place, but it's just so common to see these sorts of things.

It doesnt happen often that we lose members here in an untimely manner, but we get the blues when it does happen. I sometimes think of RichG. Some of you guys will remember him. He could sure ruffle feathers on here. lol. He pissed me off a few times, but it was tragic to hear of his death.

I was pretty angry when I found out erinstubby was a hoax. But, Im even more bothered by the fact he has the nads to come back here.

Some men have no shame. To come back to the scene of the crime, so to speak, really is something. That takes some really big, hairy, discolored, odious, malformed cajones.

So this basttard almost got away with this? Had the idiot not been talking in the background? The wife was clearly in on this con too it sounds like. image

Just blows my mind that people pull these types of scams. I want nothing if I ever die. Just send my wife Chad Ochocinco cards, she hates him.

I'm curious how this went down.

Did he email someone on the boards acting as a family member?

Did he believe the boards would rally and donate 5K or did he owe people cards on the board?

Did his wife tell the truth or was she in on it.

Whoever, went to his FB page and posted that is a hero in my book.

Did he REALLY come back to the message boards or is that an assumption.

Did he email someone on the boards acting as a family member? - Yup, I was the sucker

Did he believe the boards would rally and donate 5K or did he owe people cards on the board? No, this was out of our good nature.

Did his wife tell the truth or was she in on it.

Whoever, went to his FB page and posted that is a hero in my book. That was me, I took it personally that I was the tool who started this whole thing.
