C'mon KG, get back in there will ya?

I'm all for the hurt players getting plenty of rest before the playoffs. No chance now (IMO) of catching up for first in the East, so just get healthy and refreshed for the lengthy playoff run

As long as they finish 2nd they'll play that Cavs in the East Conf finals. Orlando doesn't have good enough perimeter defense to hang with the C's over 7 games. Howard will explode in two games but Perkins is also an underrated rebounder/defender. I'm fine with not winning the top seed. If KG comes back 100% I still like their chances.

Did any of you guys see Pierce against Chicago? He seriously looked like he was on a mission in the 4th quarter. I hope people remember games like that when morons try to keep him out of the HOF. He's not a first ballot HOFer, but he's been a top 10 player in the league for almost 10 years now. Never a top 5 player (MAYBE 02) but certainly always between 6th and 10th best player in the league since 1999. The guy won a freaking duel with LeBron in Game 7 last year, was a finals MVP and if anyone remembers, carried a terrible C's team to the 01 Conf Finals. He'll finish with a 21/6/5 career line but ALWAYS someone you want with the ball in his hands at crunch time. He won't catch Hondo on the C's all time scoring list, but will probably wind up #2...and consider that the C's have like 19 retired numbers (not including Auerbach/Brown)...that's pretty darn impressive.
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,501 ✭✭✭✭✭
Jim Loscutoff's #18 would have been retired for him had he not requested otherwise (Cowens got to wear it and now it is retired for Cowens)

    they clinched the division

    yeah!!!!

i hope kg comes back soon too but not too soon that he's still hurt we need him in may/june

I sat next to Rondo on Wed night after the game for a nice Italian dinner in the North end. Although he was driving a convertible Bentley, he seemed very modest and kind of embarrassed when everyone was congratulating him for ANOTHER great performance.
  • baseballfanbaseballfan Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭
he seems like a very quiet kid. i wish he would put in about 3-4 hours a day in the off season like bird or magic used to and become a better outside shooter. if he did that he would be unbelievable. he's great now but if they had to respect his outside shot there would no one that could guard him.

With all the injuries I've been avoiding posting in this thread. They're going to need some major healing to even reach the conf. finals now. I think a healthy C's take Cleveland to 7, but not sure they can beat them. Here's hoping.

Well one thing for sure, is all the pressure will be on Cleveland to do what they are expected to do -- reach the finals, and, probably, win it all. We will definitely see how clutch (or not) LeBron is this year!

So do you think Starbury will step it up in the playoffs? image

My condolences. Tough times ever since Bernard King had that career ending injury 25 years ago.
  • ConnecticoinConnecticoin Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭✭
This Sunday, last chance to beat the Cavs in Cleveland (yeah, right)! They are 24-0 at home against the Eastern Conference.

Maybe LeBron will get the flu, but he would probably still drop 30 on the C's anyway, especially without KG.

I'm hearing and reading terrible news...Doc Rivers is saying KG could miss the entire playoffs. That's too bad. I'm a Lakers fan, but I'd love to see the Celtics back into the playoffs against the Lakers...That's if the Lakers can make it. I know the Cavs are hot and seem to be peaking, I'd love to see Lebron wait another year before he starts getting some rings.

I hope for a speedy KG return.

Quite honestly, if Cleveland didn't look so invincible I'm not so sure he doesn't play. If it's a 50/50 proposition, the one question you have to ask yourself is - do we have a chance to win the title? And with Cleveland looking invincible, even if you win a war with them over 7 games, you still have to beat the Lakers on the road, I think even with a 100% KG the chances of winning a title were less than 20% anyway. I'm so bummed out. I just read the whole article on ESPN. Now the playoffs are a whole lot less interesting as we're virtually assured of a Lakers/Cavs finals. Why even play the first three rounds?

Hey, the Lakers and Cavs still have to play the games. History is littered with "lock" favorites choking in the early rounds. Heck, last year if the Celts have a bad Game 5 against the Hawks, the Celts go from Banner 17 to collosal chokers.

I know Rose is the next big thing and had a playoff debut like none other in game one, but anyone catch Rondo's linescore tonight!?!?

    19 Points
    12 Rebounds
    16 Assists
    5 Steals
    8-1 Assist to Turnover Ratio

Now that's a freaking playoff game!!!

Still going to be a tough fight to win the series image

really great second half. One guy per team that couldn't miss, the difference became which guy took the last shot. Without KG, I don't think the Celtics have a shot to repeat, but this is fun to watch.

Not good. The bench is getting thinner, and those left have not played well lately.

    agreed NOT GOOD!!!

but they are still in and they have to be beat. so anything can happen

the powe injury hurts for next year as well, it took tony allen a while to come back from his ACL, i hope powe is a faster healer.

They deserved to lose. How do you not foul Salmons if you're Ray Allen w/ 10 seconds left in the first overtime up 3????? You CAN'T let Ben Gordon take that shot. I'm so angry.

having this much difficulty with a low seed doesn't bode well for the Celtics. should they get past Chicago they'll most likely lose in the next round and a repeat is only a fantasy.
  • ConnecticoinConnecticoin Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭✭

<< <i>having this much difficulty with a low seed doesn't bode well for the Celtics. should they get past Chicago they'll most likely lose in the next round and a repeat is only a fantasy. >>

They could not beat #8 seed Atlanta on the road last year, and we all know what happened after that. However, I agree a repeat is a long shot.

    My predictions:

Celts win in 6 vs Chicago

Celts win in 6 vs Orlando

Celts lose in 5 vs Cleveland.

Cleveland wins in 5 vs. Los Angeles.

LeBron gets his throne back from Scott Van Pelt.

Win or lose I am happy with their effort. It brings back memories of the 1986-87 season when they had so many injuries, yet made it to the finals after surviving some very tough series.

Great game and congrats Celtic fans. Personally I thought the refs should of called a flagrant on Rondo considering without doubt under the rules that was a flagrant. On the other hand I do understand though why the refs would not want to decide a game on such a call. Either way another great game and can't wait for Boston to come back to Chicago.

Oh stop it with the foul calls. Of Ray Allen's 4 second half fouls, 3 were totally suspect.
