<<<I hope it's just a 1 game suspension because we desperately need him for the Lakers on Thursday.>>>

I think it will be. You could tell he was embarrassed about it, he just walked away without even looking back, avoiding escalation of the situation.

i think he played yesterday without KG, i hope he doesn't wait to long to sit out if he has too.

    big game coming sunday

RAY RAY! Tough game and then two big 3's in the last 1:30. This Laker game is going to be great. I wish the Lake Show was healthy, but it should still be fun.

Seems like all the contenders are taking a hit with injuries...Bynum, Nelson, D. West.....hopefully the C's can sidestep the injury bug and get the #1 seed.

    Showdown II tonight!!
  • VitoCo1972VitoCo1972 Posts: 6,130 ✭✭✭
Wow, what a horribly officiated game. The 6th foul on KG changed the whole game. Glen Davis needs to not play for 5 games. Why was Powe not in there in the last 5 mins and OT when KG went out. They needed an inside player and Davis is in there jacking up 15 footers. Unreal. That one hurt.
  • jdip9jdip9 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭
I agree Vito. I thought the refs were bad on Xmas, they were worse tonight. A superstar should NEVER get whisted for a 6th foul on something that cheap...never mind the reach in on Gasol that wasn't called just prior.

Powe was having a great game, made no sense to have Baby in.
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,501 ✭✭✭✭✭
imagine how good the Celtics would do in close games if they had a good head coach?
  • baseballfanbaseballfan Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭
i thought it was an exciting game, i enjoyed watching it.

i would like to see a win tonight and try to wrestle home court back

that was like a playoff game. i think its a different outcome if KG is in the game for OT. he was winded and tired from being sick and he got some fouls he would not normally get.

    on to tonight

Hey guys, Great game the other night regardless of who won. The Lakers Celtics rivalry is back like it was back in the 80's and brings back good memories.

Although I'm a Laker fan, I understand how it could be frustrating. Because of the early second half altercation and double technicals, the refs didn't want the game to get out of hand. I understand that, but they did call every little ticky tacky foul they saw. Yes the Celtics got called for some and the Lakers did too. I didn't keep track of how many?? Either way, the players on both teams settled down and should have been able to play more physical instead of the game being decided at the line.

I haven't seen enough Celtics games to say if Rivers is doing a bad job or not, but a few decisions seemed odd. I did think that House was hot and he could have played a bigger factor down the stretch if giving the chance.

Maybe we can have the Celtics Lakers champion II this year???

    Good luck to you all!

Was anyone else surprised by the clear path foul on Pierce? Reading the rule, I guess it qualifies but I've never seen it called when the defender is even with the offensive player and reaches in...seemed like an iffy call at that juncture of the game.

WOW, those two wins were freakin' impressive. Rondo is a top 5 PG in the league - it's official. He may even be #4 behind Paul, Williams and Nash (and closing the gap on Nash fast because Rajon plays defense)

wonder how the addition of Marbury will work with this team
  • baseballfanbaseballfan Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭
i thought of that this morning when i saw that he was released, i think they need to add someone but i think it needs to be a big guy, maybe joe smith will be release. i guess marbury couldn't hurt if it doesn't work out just cut him again.

    I'm dubious.

Marbury may be trouble for the team chemistry, and he will get in the way of Rondo's development - maybe.

Well, my special lady friend had bought us tickets to the game tonight for Christmas...so I was there to witness the carnage. Horrifying. Their rhythm was way off and no one knew who was supposed to help out on the weak side or how to rebound. With KG they win that game by 15. Very much a bummer.

Rondo is getting to be very, very good. I would say he has cracked the top 10 no doubt. however I dont think he is ahead of any of these guys:

    Paul
    Williams
    Nash
    Tony Parker
    Devin Harris
    Chauncey Billups

    he is close to:
    Jose Calderon
    Baron Davis
Raymond Felton is playing very well this year
    Jason Kidd

I would say Rondo might be between group 1 and 2... maybe behind Calderon but #8 is as low as I think he is.

I have to respectfully disagree with you John. I think Harris and Baron Davis are a combo guards and therefor ineligible for this list...and let's ask the question this way...if you had to draft players from that list right now to start a team with for the next 10 years, how would the draft order go? It would probably be:

    1 - Paul
    2 - Williams
    3 - Parker
    4 - Rondo
    5 - Calderon
    6 - Nash
    7 - Felton
    8 - Kidd

Now, the argurment that will be made is that we're talking "RIGHT NOW" and not "FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS"

but to that I counter that the list would then look this way if you were drafting for the 09-10 season only:

    1 - Paul
    2 - Williams
    3 - Parker
    4 - Nash
    5 - Rondo
    6 - Calderon
    7 - Felton
    8 - Kidd

Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike.... you're probably right. Rondo sure has come a long way in the last season and a half hasn't he? Harris has as well. They are both studs. Baron Davis is a scoring point guard, but he is a point guard and has always played point. I believe the same for Harris, but am not sure. It's true that they are more scoring oriented than rondo, thus less 'true' points, but that doesn't mean that the players are no longer point guards. Okur and Ilgauskas are both classified as centers even though they do not provide the typical banging, inside center presence. Doesn't mean they aren't centers.

Anyway, your last post looks ok to me. Although the way Billups is playing he HAS to be on your top 8 for this year. HAS to. Kidd doesn't do much anymore. If I am drafting for the next 10 years, my list is totally different. But thats not what we were talking about. For fun, though.

    Paul
    Williams
    Rose
    Parker
    Rondo
    Russell Westbrook
    Calderon
    Harris
    Jameer Nelson
    Nash
    B Davis
    Kidd
    Felton
    Billups

Honestly after the first 5 or 6 of that list , I think it's a crapshoot.
but I do know one thing: Westbrook is a stud in the making.

Well, I watched the game. I thought Marbury was effective to a point. He plays no D. He'll be fine for 12-15 minutes a game but if they ask any more of him they'd be stupid. He hasn't played in a year and a half. Rondo having 17 assists in Marbury's first game in Celtic green was eye-opening. image Liked seeing the Cavs and Lakers each lose once over the last two days too.

Hopefully Marbury will have realized that his career just got a huge gift, and that (like Randy Moss once said) he can just be "another good guy" on a great team rather than a savior.

  • Marbury making a few open shots last night is going to be big trouble for the C's - he'll soon think he's owed more minutes and that he is still Starbury, which means dribbling the ball slowly upcourt, running down the shot clock, then firing a bad pass to a covered teammate in hopes of padding his assist total. The fans standing and wildly cheering for the Staph infection last night are going to feel like idiiots in a few weeks. Mark my words, no team with Selfishbury on it will ever win an NBA title. This is a guy who couldn't put his personal feeling aside and not be a freaking crybaby little girl and try to help his hometown team not become a laughingstock.

Hope fathers around Boston locked up their daughters last night - with Staph and his posse in town, I'm sure the truck parties were in full effect! Classy guy, that Staph.....
  • jlb, please tell us how you really feel image
and if you could come up with several more creative nicknames i would appreciate it. Honestly, i dont think that pierce or KJ or anyone that Celts team will tolerate a peep from Marbury.

Wow, why did I not remember Cleveland's interior defense being so weak. My favorite Celtic, Leon Powe really played well on the block. Very few 6' 5'' guys can play that well on the low block.

SCARY when Rondo went down. I had nightmares of Marbury playing 35 minutes/night in the first round of the playoffs.

In the end they'll still need a couple losses from Cleveland to win the East.

clev. has miami tonight, i think and wade is lighting it up lately.

great win, they said last night on the telecast that clev. had the best defense against point in the paint in the league going into last night. that is all the announcers could talk about and they did it without KG and big baby most of the night.

the C's just ned to keep winning and hope for the best with the clev. losses
