I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

Only problem I see is that it's a nickle and not a nickel.

Check out his other listings, love that 1856 FE! I think his nose is getting bigger!

    <<< NO RETURNS >>>

Why would I want to return a genuine 1913 V-nickel if I paid $200 for it? LOL

  • Q: I suggest you have this authenticated by a 3rd party service such as ANACS. Then, if genuine, it would be worth over a million dollars. If you choose not to, then we can only assume that you are a con artist. Sep-22-08

A: WOW IS THIS ADVISE FROM A PRO ? AND DO PRO'S INVESTIGATE OR JUST ASSUME BEFORE SUGGESTING SOMEONE MAY BE A DISHONEST PERSON ? YOU PROBABLY WOULD WANT A MILLION IF YOU HAD IT. ME WELL I AM GOING TO TAKE AS MANY PICTURES AS I CAN, ADD THEM TO THE LISTING AND LET THE BIDDERS DECIEDE WHAT IT IS WORTH ! AND IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BID MR. PRO MILLION !

If you've got a few years under your belt, you can remember how EVERY comic book used to run the add, something like "$50,000 for a 1913 nickel". Every kid in the country was looking for one of those for most of the first half of the twentieth century. Doubtful one could have escaped their attention.

It was a 14 year old kid who found the first 1943 copper, wasn't it?

Just sand the whole thing down, carve '1913' on one side and carve 'V' on the other side, and it might be a more convincing image...
  • Well thanks a lot. I had that on my snipe list and was hoping to get it for a steal. Now that everyone knows it will cost millions.

    I think you mean "Uncredible".

It's the rare 1913-D as well, so it's unique!

What a loser. To think that someone would actually collect a crappy coin like his.

I got an 1804 Silver Dollar AND a 1913 Niclel and they're both in very collectible condition. Furthermore I bought mine as a true Collector - mine are not for sale at any price - not even $300.00 !

What a complete dumazz that guy is. image

Someone should tell him that his $200 opening bid is making it hard for people to take him seriously, due to lack of perceived value of the coin, and that if it doesn't sell, next time he should try an opening bid of $1000. Then someone else should send him a message asking if he'd consider ending the auction early for $650. The $1000 suggestion should have him turning down the $650 offer, and the offer should goad him into relisting. If he accepts the $650, just never reply until the auction ends and then say you found a different coin for your collection.

This nescient nincompoop deserves to be toyed with like a mouse before eaten by a cat, and some "419-baiting" techniques should cause him to run up fees quickly for something that probably would only give you 4c credit in a parking meter.
  • I'm gonna buy the 11 foot bateau he's selling for $200 and take it out to the oil rigs in the gulf- go after some cobia or big grouper and amberjack. After all, it's got a 5 hp Sears outboard and looks to be in at least as good condition as the nickel.image

  • somebody should buy it with their credit card and send it to ANACS...then reverse the payment when it's proven fake...the odds have to be better than 200 lotto tickets?

You know, by only asking for $200 on his coin, he's really lowered the price of the other five... if I were the owner of any of the others, I'd be really ticked off right now!! image
  • messydeskmessydesk Posts: 20,340 ✭✭✭✭✭
Looks like he pulled the auction, but sounds like it'll be back. Maybe I should list my chain cent with 100% clip to raise some cash for it. Trouble is, I have to find it first.
