The second chance offer may be dubious in another way.
That you received this so quickly after your email wanting registered insured mail.
There is the outside chance that this second chance offer may have been a ploy to get you to pay "quickly" in order for that second chance offer not to be completed. Since you have the members id you may want to check out his feedback.
Most likely they were a potential victim but it is not unthinkable for a grifter to imploy pressure to complete the transaction.

As I said I reported this to ebay the other night, The next morning I got a "bulls&*t generic" message from ebay re-directing me to report whatever somewhere else in there system, I left it at that.
BTW I never said anything to the seller about the OP contacting me and stating that he got a SCO. So Monday I checked with my bank to make sure I was covered if I did this and got stuck, They said I am covered.
So I cleared all but 160.00 dollars out of my paypal account so I could do as suggested earlier in this post and used a credit card to fund the paypal payment, Yesterday I received a message from paypal that the item was shipped and got a tracking # which I checked this morning, The package is on its way, now whats in the package is the problem.
I know what you are thinking and you may be correct, When I have a gut feeling about something, as I do about this, I see it through......so in a day or two we will know... I will post when I receive the package !
This could turn into another call me stupid thread.........
When the "coin" arrives, do NOT acknowledge receipt - to PP or the seller - until you are satisfied that you got what you paid for. Do NOT leave FB, quickly.
The seller is likely subject to the 21-day hold. This hold will be applied PAST the delivery date on the DC/SC. The refund process is smoother, if the money is still on hold.

Also.......
It would be good to open the package in the presence of a postal worker. IF there is a rock in the envelope, having a witness is a good thing.

Eric, I don't want to pile on but if you look at your motive for the purchase it boils down to an emotion that has been used by scamsters for centuries..... greed.... getting something valuable for next to nothing.
I hope everything turns out OK for you but you really need to look at your own motives, I'm not buying the "well at least I'll keep someone else from being ripped off" excuse because the 2nd chance offer also bagged another buyer even after he was warned. If thats not being greedy, nothing is. Stick to the reputable, honest, dealers, and pay a fair price, not some yokel in WV with an "amazing find".

You're right of course, I just didn't think there was a snowballs chance in hell that it could be a legit offer. You have every right to do as you please.
Some towns in a South American country were having a terrible problem with drunk-drivers hurting pedestrians during the 1970s.
The solution was to set up roadside tribunals. Drunk drivers were tried on the spot, found guilty, and EXECUTED immediately.
EBAY could be cleaned-up quickly, if justice was allowed to prevail. If "white-collar' criminals were dealt with properly, ALL of commerce would be smoother and more equitable.

I believe it all depends on how much you are willing to gamble.
If you have a million dollars to gamble with, then $1000 is not a big deal. If you need the $1000 to feed your family, then $1000 is a big deal.
