Would you consider $5 Walking Liberty Halves to be a good deal?

Looks like the range from VF to XF various years mostly 1940's
Not exactly my series but I'm thinking that they should bring a little more than that for just melt value alone.
Am I totally off base here?

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

Maybe I'll pick a few up since the price is good.

If you buy them for $5 and sell them at $6 but then factor in the Ebay fees and pay pal fees... you're looking at a very tight profit margin.
6 Walking Liberty coins $34
Here are a few others...
20 went for $137 recently
Another group of 20 went for $130
10 sold for $50, which is $5 each
100 Walkers, Condition is G-F- VF but could not get any bids starting at $6.65 a coin ($499)
Edited to add: if the coins you're looking at are true EFs then the numbers might work out better for you and they do seem to fetch $6.25 per coin when sold in a roll of 20 on EBay.
<< <i>I don't know... I see VF-XF Walking Liberty's from the 40s selling for around $5 to $6 each on Ebay. I just sold 6 and got $5.60 each.

You add the shipping charges in and you are right at 6 bucks apiece....10 for $50 with $10.75 shipping

Yes, if that one seller can get $10.75 shipping for six coins more power to him!
Seriously though, if you buy at $5 and sell at $6 you’re making money.
However, if you buy at $5 and sell at $6 and then factor in the Ebay fees and the Pay Pal fees and your time and effort in putting up the auctions, taking pictures, packing, emailing customers, shipping out the coins, perhaps relisting an auction or two due to non paying bidder… you might be profiting 25 to 50 cents a coin.
Of course, if many of the Walkers are strong Extra Fines and you can get $10 each, that might change the curve a bit but, if nearly all sell for about $6 or a bit less… that is an extraordinarily tight profit margin.

everything silver i can get my hands on at 8-10 times face.
But it only takes unlimted amount of time during retirement. Buy bank wrapped rolls of halves and on a good day you might find one walker half dollar for every $4000 worth of halves from the bank!!
<< <i>I'd buy any 90% silver half for 5$ all day long >>
Just make sure that's $5 inclusive of taxes and shipping charges. Buying a lot of 10 of them for $50 isn't a bargain if you have to pay $4 in tax and $6 in shipping -- then they are $6 each instead of $5...

That is the way I am thinking also. But it appears that the "Walkers" are not a very popular series and thus the low prices.

Walkers are not a popular series? Any evidence to make us believe this?
