Stan the man, Most of what I see you write I agree with, even about Pujols character and skill I agree with you. As everyone knows, I like sharing scans of my cards, and I doubt I will stop (but maybe some day, i will stop). hof, my original point that started all this is you told the OP he should have never started this thread in the first place. That would be the same as me telling someone not to be sarcastic.

This thread has taught us nothing new. Lee is sarcastic, and hofautos is a pompous and overbearing collector who rams his collection down the throats of those that didn't ask to see it. 99.9% of the membership here knew both of those things already.

At first I was a little pixxed, but I think if it gives people a chance to air out their frustration, and show their colors, and become a part of the family (even if i become the basterd stepchild), the thread could prove to be reviewed positively. Perhaps I will share my scans less often, if it will make the majority happy. I am curious, just why it seems to upset so many? Perhaps it is because I collect a lot more than what the mainstream here collect? I collect it all, vintage and current. I know I personally would never be upset with someone that liked sharing their cards? Really curious?

No, I can spot a jack ass when I see one.
Most of the time, I go against the pack of popular opinions. That usually does not sit well, when you have an independent opinion, instead of trying to kiss rump to fit into the "group".
I think Lee is more sardonic than sarcastic. I enjoy his posts, but than i also think Porkys' was funny. I have pm'ed Lee for help with grading questions or his opinion on a potential purchase and have found him to be very willing to help although he doesn't know me from Adam. I've also had HOFer pm me with compliments on cards i've posted.
I think both are good guys that contribute to the boards. If either post something i don't agree with or care for i skip it. It ain't that hard to do.

I don't think it is the fact that you like sharing your cards that piss people off. The link Lee provided is a good example of what everyone is upset about. The op was asking which card he should get auto'd and you provided a scan of a card not even mentioned by the op plus you didn't even say a word...just a scan. It is viewed by many as showboating and quite frankly I agree.
In regards to this:
<< <i>Perhaps it is because I collect a lot more than what the mainstream here collect? >>
I don't collect what the "mainstream" collects here either. I now just collect Emmitt, Aikman and a few other Cowboys. This doens't mean I'm gonna go around sticking scans of my cards in everyone's threads, only if it is warranted. However, I do like to start my own threads showing that "rare" card I picked up or my sub poppage with scans. If people don't like my thread, they don't reply. That is how it should be.
I'm sure there are some guys here that like to see your cards. Imo, I see no problem with you sharing your stuff. Perhaps limit it to the mail call thread, your own threads or threads where that particular card or set is being discussed.

I think I have pretty thick skin...most people wouldn't even reply, and I am sure there are hundreds of members that read that rarely write. I grew up a skinny kid with tons of freckles. I have always been a computer geek and couldn't pronounce my words while growing up. I was teased and tormented a lot growing up. One day i stood up to the biggest bully at school and kicked his bute. All the students in the school grounds stood behind me, and at the time, I didn't realize anyone would cheer me on. Since then, i have learned, probably too well, to speak my mind, disregarding what others have had to say about me.
It's great if someone has great knowledge of cards. I think it is ok to have fun, until it's to the point of causing grief to others. Maybe not everyone agrees with me, but that's ok. That is simply how I was raised. If that is pompous, then I am pompous.
Anyway, for now, I am perfectly content with others viewing me as the black sheep of the family that enjoys sharing his scans, even when others have a problem with that.
I think this scan is appropriate....I could only imagine what he went through...
Hof, I dont think anyone has a problem with you showing scans of your cards. You have some nice stuff and like anyone else here you are proud of it. It is the when and where you post the scans that are annoying.

I think that I only share scans where appropriate....maybe I should give it more thought. Like the thread cdsnut mentioned. I don't understand how it wasn't relevant. Someone asked what year card a pete rose auto would look good on, and I shared a scan of my 1970 pete rose auto. Someone else shared a scan of a 68rose first. I don't get it? Just recently someone posted a thread what 1981 set do they like, and I shared a scan of a 1981 Rice auto. What is wrong with that? I believe I am staying on topic, while at the same time sharing scans of my cards. I enjoy my collection and enjoy sharing it. I see people all the time sharing football scans. I don't enjoy football cards, so i skip those threads. I don't understand why if someone doesn't have any interest in a scan I share, why they cant just ignore it. I will try and share less scans...
I beat up a girl in the 1st grade. She said I had cooties so I had to defend my honor. Didn't want the cooties distinction following me all the way to high school.
<< <i>Hof, are you comparing what Jackie Robinson went through to what you are going through here ?? >>
Of course not... Jokingly, I am just saying, just because some people don't like me sharing scans of my cards, that I am going to stop. ..it was a silly metaphor...and of course I had to share another scan...nevermind...
I vote post all the scans you want and make all the wisecracks you want. It is just a message board.
Lee is a good poster. Some of his wisecracks are a little irritating to me, many others are really funny. I usually ignore those that I don't like...I laugh at those I do. THis is just me.
Interestingly, I whipped my fair share of ass growing up but I rarely scan my cards. To be fair, I don't have freckles though.

Okay, this thread is getting a little creepy now

<< <i> Perhaps I will share my scans less often,
if it will make the majority happy. I am curious, just why it seems to upset so many? Perhaps it is because I collect a lot more than what
the mainstream here collect? I collect it all, vintage and current. I know I personally would never be upset with someone that liked sharing
their cards? Really curious? >>
I think that I only share scans where appropriate....maybe I should give it more thought.
Like the thread cdsnut mentioned. I don't understand how it wasn't relevant. Someone asked what year card a pete rose auto would look good on, and
I shared a scan of my 1970 pete rose auto.
<< <i>Hof, are you comparing what Jackie Robinson went through to what you are going through here ?? >>
I would hope not..
<< <i>I vote post all the scans you want and make all the wisecracks you want. It is just a message board.

ROFL
Although I do agree, that's probably why i keep coming back for more punishment...I laugh a lot here....

Well, there you have it. The board would be downright boring to most of us without that!
