well i cracked a few boxes of 2008 rookie progression. these are the auto's and gu i got.. some of these cards are 3'ed to 20.. i love this set its 1 of three products i have been buying..i almost have the complete set need a few cards.. the other stuff i cracked was a box of topps chrome (nice cards,a little flashy for me) then i busted 7 boxes of the 2008 donruss elite. but i like these.. don
Very sweet 72's. I have 5 complete sets (in varying grades from one being NM+ to one being VG), and 2 partial sets with over 650 cards in each, so I can safely say that it is my favorite set as well.

Thanks, Nick. Very impressive collection of sets you have. You REALLY must be a fan.
If you are talking about the one I have, then Yes it is psa/dna certified insead of encapsulated, it has the sticker ad COA on the back. I heard it was from his early playing days.
J, My '72's are a mixed bag. About 20% are remnants of the set I built in 1972 when I was 8 yrs old. The rest are upgrades that I've bought over the years. About half of the upgrades are raw buys, and half were cracked out of PSA slabs. That 787 card behemeth is simply too large for me to tackle in all-PSA. By the way, your 1973's are absolutely gorgeous. I have a very nice '73 set myself, but I would be hard pressed to match the overall quality of your beauts.
Nick, from the look of your '72's you don't have to take a back seat to anyone. They are very nice.
Great looking 72's and 73's. I would imagine the 1972 set in PSA would be a real bear, especially with the high numbers. I bought just 30 of the top cards from the set PSA graded and that took long enough.
Thanks, Nick. That's one of the few holdovers from when I was a kid. I can't believe it has survived all the years of abuse and many changes of address.
<< <i>do you have all your '72s posted online somewhere?
i'd like to see the entire set.

J, No, not posted anywhere. I was pretty excited last week when my son taught me how to post scans here. I've been hungering for a way to share my cards with others ever since I started collecting in 1970. Neither of my 2 brothers, nor any friends, nor my 2 sons have ever shown the slightest interest in cards. My wife, god bless her for being the tolerant woman that she is, also couldn't care less about my cards. I will gladly scan some more and PM them to you so as not to hog all the thread space.
Upgrading is a never ending process, so there are still a dozen or 2 cards with which I'm not satisfied. With that in mind, please PM me if you want to see scans of any particular card or cards, or subset, or group, or whatever. I love sharing 'em.

I have a very attractive and fit 35 year old wife that I would gladly trade for yours. I do not care what she looks like. She can even be a little off centered with round corners.

Thanks for the offer, but mine is a definite keeper. We've been married a mere 22 years now. I'm shooting for 75. I figure that if Bob & Mrs. Hope could do it, so can we.
Brett, those 71s are fine, not much different than what I have.I was able to pick up quite a few NM+ specials and highs this Spring but since I already had most of the stars when I worked on this set in the 1980s, I am content to leave them as is.

Thanks, Steve. I'm such an insecure person in all respects, why should my belief in the quality of my cards be any different? I tell ya, it's tough being me.

Edited to add: Leron Lee is the uncle of Derrick Lee.
Edited again to add: The Murtaugh manager card features Bob Skinner who had a kid in the majors, not Murtaugh.
