  • Okay, Sorry for the delay everyone. Spent most of the weekend finishing up a roof and spending time in the hospital with my boss (who decided wearing leather soled boots to fix a roof was a good idea).

Didn't get the busts picked up over the weekend but they will be picked up this afternoon.

Ok, I am not a happy camper.....but this is where it's at.

    Earl Gets:

    1957 MS65fbl $110
    1886 MS64 pcgs - $59
    1894-O xf 40 - $120
    1884-O ogh - $60
    1923-P pcgs MS63 - $40
    total= $389

    The Tag box gets:

    1921-D $1 NGC MS64 - $140
    1879-S $1 PCGS MS64 - $59
    1879-S $1 PCGS MS63 - $46

    Total=$245

I will try to make it to the PO this afternoon but if I don't, it will be there tomorrow.

If you have not yet, PM or contact me first.

    Thanx. image

Lots to do ... blowin' & goin' image
  • Ok, four things I learned today.

    1. Make sure that ALL EDGES are covered in that stupid paper tape that the PO doesn't carry

    2. Office Max has the tape, but you have to order it online as they don't stock it, Super Target doesn't carry it, WallMart doesn't carry it, Albertson's doesn't carry it, and neither does Safeway..... my roll was sitting at home 50miles away

    3. Don't use the brown plastic tape...Even though it states on the container that it is approved by the postal service..they REALLY don't like that.

    4. My truck sucks when driving a whole bunch of short distances..went through a quarter tank of gas.

    Box is going out tomorrow.....grrrrrrrrr.......

Proposed and agreed upon banter between Gary and I, ammended at the Bottom

OK, coins of interest include 1879-S Morgan PCGS 64 - $59 per PCGS price Guide
PCGS 64 1880-S Morgan - $59 per PCGS Price Guide
    1881-S PCGS 64 - $59 per PCGS price Guide
    ******************************************8
    Total thus far is $177

Raw, I have an 1896 Morgan that I would like to sawp for the 1898 - $40 (per Earl's calculations) - even swap.

    I am also considering the PCGS AU 55 - 1925-S Peace Dollar - approx - $55 &
    the 3 Cent XF - Raw - approx $25
    **************************************************************
Not counting the 1896/1898 swap, if I take all the aforementioned coins it comes to

    $257
    ******************************************************************
What I have to put IN the box.
    NGC 64 1932 Washington Quarter - 80% of PCGS Guide of $120 = $96
PCGS 66 Blast White PQ 1951 Washington Quarter - $70
    PCGS 64 1954-S Franklin Half - PCGS Guide - $25
    PCGS 64 1960-D Franklin Half - PCGS Guide - $37
    PCGS 64 1963 Franklin Half - PCGS Guide - $25
    NGC 65 1955-D Washington Quarter- 80% of PCGS Guide's $70 = $56
    Total put IN = $289

    Is this agreeable with you?

****************over-all the deal sounds good, you sure you aint got a PCGS/NGC walker laying around somewhere??

    Regards,

    Gary

    *******************************************************************************************

OK, Gary is wanting the 1880-S (RAW) that I have which I say after comparing to eyoung's statement regarding his 1879-S PCGS 63 ought to be a PL coin, so too do I feel regarding the 1880-S. Now, since I have proposed putting in extra already, if I place the 1880-S IN the swap then 1 of 2 things will need to happen:
1- Factor in the extra & the 1880-S PL Morgan and TAKE another coin to make up the difference OR
2- Subxstitute the 1880-S PL for coins I've already offered.
    ****************************************************************************************

From me to Gary - top line. Gary to me, second part with consumation on bottom.
    *************************************************************************************

With the extra I've put in, should I would either substitute the 1880-S PL Morgan for the 2 lesser valued Franklin halves or somehow make this more even which will only cause further delay

    **********************************

Are there any more coins in the TAG box that interest you? if so take them for the 80-S PL. if not do what you suggest and replace it with the 1960 and 1963 Frankies.......

    Regards,

    Gary
    ************************************************************************

    DONE!

The possibilities are endless and This is what we have arrived at. Now, let me get to packing!!! image

Hi everybody. Well .... it's outta here and on the way to Brother Morganhunter2, Shipped Registered and Insured for $2500 AND with Delivery Confirmation for Tracking Purposes.

The most difficult thing I find about tags of this magnitude is the fact that it is very time consuming researching prices trying to balance things out.

For the record, I did as eyoung429 did in that I was able to use the larger Flat Rate Priority Mail Box which meant I had to undo all that Brown tape in the presence of 2 Postal Clerks, the asst Postmaster AND The Postmaster here at our local Post Office.

It seems (pay attention) that it's OK to use the Flat Rate Priority Mail Box, at get that rate, coupled with Registered Mail AS LONG AS ALL EXPOSED EDGES ARE SEALED WITH THE BROWN TAPE BUT LEAVING the Flat Rate Priority Mail emblem visible. It was OK'd by all at a cost of $24.15. I DID NOT need to tape the entire box with that nasty, Brown Tape. Had I, postage would have been in the $40 area.

OK, so here are your numbers.
    Registered Mail #RA962430486US
    DELIVERY CONFIRMATION # 0306 2400 0000 1206 0048 - Obviously for easier Tracking purposes.

Please note than when placing PCGS coins in the tag I used the PCGS Price Guide and when placing NGC certified coins in the tag, I did as was done previously in claychaser's tag and used 80% of the PCGS Price Guide BECAUSE it is for PCGS Graded coins ONLY!

I said I would be on time and I AM! I said that I would put more IN than I took out ... and I DID! I even gave TC71 his way (because it IS HIS TAG) and substituted a no brainer PL (min.) 1880-S Morgan for 2 previously OK'd PCGS coins. He in turn allowed me to have the $3-$4 in old, very circulated Quarters.

It is done! I want to thank Gary for hosting this tag and working together with me on this as evidenced in the dialogue posted above. I am very weary from having to deal with this ALL DAY LONG, however the BEST part of it all is I was on time and both I and Gary worked very well together thru all of this. Thanx Gary. image Please adjust the list of contents for me, if you haven't already as I am dog-tired!

The box weighs EXACTLY 11 lb. 9.8 ozs. Consider this when thinking about paying full rate postage, Registered, Insured. You can get the Flat Rate Box Rate IF you secure ALL edges with Brown tape AND leaving the Flat Rate Box emblem visible.

I was giving that 79-S the evil eye and compare the 80-S, BTW, it has some sort of doubling on the date <the 80-S> and the second Wade looks at that Baby and spots the awesome luster, I KNOW he's gonna take it. I respect Earl's opinion and agree 100% that the 79-S should be AT LEAST, PL and the 80-S is every bit as nice.

I had it on the shaded part of the shelf right next to me and even in the shade the frosty devices, front and back were very obvious. It's the most eye appealing Morgan I've ever seen, for sure and I put it in an Air-Tite.

I'll double check the list later today cause I need to get some shut-eye.

    Peace Bros,

Ok men, the great white hunter has returned!!imageimage I'm afraid we'll have to put off the elk BBQ til next year, unless you want just a plain ole venison BBQ image (archery hunting for elk is a tuff propositionimage especially if your fat and 50 at 12000 ft.image) The guys that scored (who were hunting with blackpowder rifles) didn't offer me any, and I didn't know them well enough to ask. One of my buds is still hunting and promises me if he scores, I get 1/2 imageimageimage Anyway, I'm baaaaackimageimageimage and would like to be next in line after clay if the spot is available....

  • Had a chat with the Chaser- we will hook up before the week is out.

This has been interesting to say the least- good conversations, and the opportunity to meet a few new folk who have a keen interest in the same items!

    Fun begins NOW!
