I havent gotten around to collecting seated and or bustie material yet! maybe we can list you around midway down or so, and if someone sees your request maybe they will toss some in!

Place me after eyoung429 if possible, and I'll take a chance that he won't take the holed bustie as a charm bracelet.

TC - any guidelines as to how relative values are determined?

And, for the rolls, is it take the entire roll or lot, or can we pick thru the coins?

I determined values on the slabbed coins via the PCGS price guide. I did the Silver coins Via Melt Value. and the nickels and cents were determined after asking fellow forum members what they were worth.

You can either pick thru (Which is what I am hoping some/most will do, as a kid I loved to do roll searches!) or take the whole roll....

    Does this sound OK/fair?

You can save some money shipping if you get a "flat rate priority box" from the post office. The ship charge is under $10, and you add registry fees and insurance to it. I shipped 43# worth cross country registered/insured at $2500 for under $25.

Now, I don't do tags but here is what is sad, and funny, at the same time......I would have no problem entrusting one of my friends, or my wife, to ship it as I directed. And, if it had problems, I wouldn't like it, but I would be the first to pay up for the replacement cost (or, a reasonable guide price agreed upon by the person who feels the loss of the coins). It is a shame that others have problems with something that may have happened image

Good luck with the swap...Gary, sorry to hear about the heart attack but you look to have put some nice coins in the box. Someone will get a good deal image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Gary,

    Package arrived today.
    Going through everyting.

    One minor 'issue'.
Because the coin tubes were not taped shut a few of the tubes opened & are scattered in the 'bowl'.

I will make sure they're all there & when shipped will tape these shut.

    Talk to you all soon.

    Augie

    UPDATE

All the coins have been accounted for EXCEPT the 'rolls' of Merc/Roosie have $4.50 sloshing around the tupperware bowl & only $4.20 in a closed tube. A few of these look to be 'problem' coins.

Is this what you remember Gary?

    Augie -

Yeah I think that the two dime rolls were short by about 5 coins each, so no sweat. If the dimes are problem coins, set them aside and maybe someone else will take them for melt. As I did state all the coins in the tube were circulated. THanks for accounting for the coins in the box. that is why I put the tubes in a tupperware bowl with a lid. I was worried about them "coming loose" Thanks for taping them up! As you can testify that box was WELL packaged! I musta used a few hundred packing peanuts! We are getting slammed by T'storms with nickel size hail, so my internet service is coming and going. I will be back, rest assured!

Went out & bought reinforced paper tape.

Augie - Registered mail can only go with Kraft/Paper tape! Use what I have on the box as a reference. You can get a roll of this at Staples. Did you ask the postal clerk if you could borrow some Kraft tape? Usually they have it there at the counter. I know the first couple of times I shipped registered mail they let me use it!

Anyone else need pointers on Registered Mail? If so PM me, I would be more than glad to help out!

Dont forget to fill out PS Form 3806, Receipt for Registered Mail. In this you declare FULL value of the pacakge contents as well as the Return address and the TO: address.

The last time I shipped registered the paper tape had to cover all edges and EVERY bit of regular tape. By the time I was done there were only (6) very small areas without paper tape.

If you use the brand new post office flat rate priority mail boxes, the job is easier. If you use the 14x12x3.5 inch one, minimal paper tape is required because it has fewer seams to protect. The flat rate part is for the postage only, but you can add registered insurance.

    Claychaser,

Here was my experience yesterday when I went to ship & what I wrote to TC71

....I don't want to sound cheap (maybe I am, especially when it comes to shipping).

With the added weight shipping in one box is up to nearly $50!
Shipping is devided into size/weight (shipping) & insurance (including resgistered mail)
What I propose, & this will fit, is that the shipment be devided into 2 flat rate boxes.
1 box has all the graded coins/mint-proof sets, while the other has the raw coins in the tupperware bowl.
The box with the graded/mint/proof coins be sent registered, while the raw coins sent Priority with insurance.

I hope that this will work for you.
It will save around $20 in shipping.

The only boxes I found at the P.O. where the 11x9x6.
I know there used to be the bigger boxes you described & will look for them at a different P.O. today.
$50 for shipping is pretty steep just to swap coins IMO.
If I can find the box you described shipping will be even lower, probably in the $25 range.

    Will update again tonight.

    Augie,

You want the "flat rate" priority box - they are identical in size to the others.

I ordered a bunch from the PO on line a while ago.

As a point of reference, I shipped a 47# flat rate box from California to Virginia, registered/insured for $1586, and the cost was $22.40. Postage did go up a little since then (May, 2007).

Hey ... FLAT RATE PRIORITY BOX - INSURED IS ALL YOU NEED, OK?

AND THE COMMON SENSE TO TAPE THE CRAP OUT OF IT WITH HEAVY DUTY CLEAR TAPE (SCOTCH BRAND) - THE KIND USED TO TAPE LABELS ON TO PACKAGES. IT'S THICK, TRANSPARENT AND VERY STRONG!

Why do you guys make this harder than you need to.

The packaging may be a bit heavy- I don't blame Ajia on this one- just read the contents list.

Brown box it guys- and use a friggin paper bag turned inside out- and tape it like a frigging xmas present- only 1 side should be taped.

do the RM and the postal dog CANNOT refuse it- IF he questions it- ask for his supervisor immediately- the supervisor will handle the item from that point on- as ALL Registered Mail is commonly handled.

I am the one who had a bad mishap with the Postal Service that TC mentioned earlier.

I went to the PO from my end- guess who lost his job, and might be looking at jail time!!

I may look stupid to a few people, and my wife might look naive- but I refuse to allow a thief to take my items- ESPECIALLY if I am already paying his friggin salary.. I can do his job before night fall, and still eat a Pizza for breakfast.

When in doubt- question the one on the other side of the counter and get his boss..
