Clay at topps told me that the Smoltz was hobby only but the Santana was all SKU's. That doesn't appear to be true. Ive probably opened more retail than hobby.
<< <i>Hey, what do you all consider a safe time limit in waiting on responses for trades??
I must have a bad case of bad breath, no one wants to respond to me.
There have been a couple of people who posted a want and need list, then I've PM'd them wanting to trade, and I'm getting no response. I simple "No thanks" would be fine.
But I'm wanting to trade to complete my set, but afraid I'll offend someone if I trade off cards I proposed to them before. If no response in a couple of days, is it alright to say heck with them and trade with someone else??

Shawn,
After reading all the posts about private messages not being answered, I went back to my profile. There is a question there, "Allow private messages." I had left mine in the "off" position and switched it on. If others, when they registered, did not understand what private messages were and left this "off", this might explain why so many PM's have gone unanswered.
While rearranging my boxes of cards to make room for my complete 2008 Topps Heritage set, I came across a box of assorted cards (how many extra Heritage SPs, inserts and chromes do you have lurking in miscellaneous boxes?).
During the move I came across a set of cards I thought I’d share with you.
It’s a long story. Before I retired two years ago, I was a member of the Boston Globe sports department. Around 1980 the Red Sox were preparing for their first Old-Timers Game. It was a nice way to bring back Ted Williams in uniform once again.
At the paper we wanted to do something special and for about two weeks before the game, I created phony baseball cards of some of the players involved. I used art from our photography department.
Besides the dozen or so cards that appeared in the paper, I created a 128-card set. I had about 1000 sets printed and sold them to various hobby dealers. They went pretty fast and I wasn’t really a collector and never thought much about it until I found a couple the other day.
I just thought I’d share it with you. Here are a few. Remember, this was before photo shop and other printing programs. In fact, it was before most of us ever used a computer.

LOL, ironically, it was you I had tried to PM three times and it wasn't showing up. I'll try again.
You would think a note would pop up saying "member doesn't allow private messages".
I thought it was either on or off, but the fact that I received your PM suggests otherwise.
Pharber...cool cards, you gotta love the attic finds!
I took my binder out today for a walk and noticed a few things:
1) My favorite card is #61 Brenden Harris......topps got the look right! 2) It appears like most of the shots were done at spring training. Many of the cactus league shots look like they were done on the moon!! 3) Has anyone, besides Shawn, heard of David Weathers? He is a 17 yr vet who really can't do anything but stay in the league. Perhaps he is a great cook?? 4) Matt Cain....no sig...the Timo Perez of 2008? There is one other no sig........... 5) David Ortiz says "heritage gum is #1" 6) Ervin Santana's sig is not his brothers, but maybe it is? There are at least 5 other cards where the sigs obviously don't match the player (even fake)
<< <i>3) Has anyone, besides Shawn, heard of David Weathers? He is a 17 yr vet who really can't do anything but stay in the league. Perhaps he is a great cook?? >>
He was the closer last year and terrible!! Back to setup this year, thank goodness. I don't know how he stayed in the league, perhaps you're right.
I noticed today that on the Santana Mets card the rawlings logo is missing from his glove, it is there on the normal version. I was also debating on selling mine while they were hot, and have come up with the solution for filling the spot in the binder. I just scanned them and printed them off on sticker stock and then stuck them on another card, they're not glossy like a real card, but they look pretty good behind the plastic. The lines are actually smoother in person, it's just a low res scan.
my target finally got blasters. i bought all they had, 3 of them i'll post details and if i get anything worthwhile i'll scan it. they also had 3 boxes of retail packs but i'm not that addicted, yet.

Any good? PS- I havent collected cards for almost 15 years. Brought some just bc it was interesting and the feel of ripping the pack and checking out what you got feels good!
Is there any cards I should look out for? please do tell....dont know the players like I use to....
I have a complete 10 card Wal-Mart Dick Perez Topps Heritage set. If anyone is interested please PM me. I will only trade towards the following 2008 Topps Heritage:

I will also trade towards vintage cards that I need for my sets -- check out my web site for my want lists.
I finally found retail at one of the three targets I patrol. They were stupid to wait so long putting these out. I had almost flawless coallation on my T205 cards, nailing 14 of the 15 cards with only 4 doubles. The nice thing is that the set is 15 cards big and that fits perfectly into one sheet!
I'd sworn off retail after the Target boxes & blasters but my wife called me from Walmart this AM & said they finally have them there. Of course I had her pick up a couple. Help, my name is Dave & I'm a Heritage addict.
She sounds like a keeper Dave. Now you have to get her to rip the packs for you while feeding you grapes and simultaneously fanning you with a giant palm leaf.

I opened a few blasters from wal mart this past weekend and got some cards with lighter green around the numbers. Is this another variation or just a light print?
I love the smell of commerce in the morning! - Jason Lee, "Mallrats"
I am still trading. I ordered another hobby box hoping for the Smoltz or Santana variation. I will have a list out by the end of the week. Hopefully, people will still be trading next week.
Jackailus, I'd consider that just a light print. Some of my cards vary slightly in color tone as well. I'd bet on it just being random variations in amount of ink and/or tone rolled on the card.
I got in late last night from a week on the road and I'm probably behind on any PMs as well - if anyone has sent me something and hasn't heard back, please try again, it's certainly nothing personal. I also had a pile of mail on my desk waiting for me that I haven't opened yet, but will later tonight hopefully, so if you sent me something in trade and haven't heard back as to whether it arrived, it probably did, and it's waiting for me tonight.
I'm sure I'll still have some more trading to do - so far this has been the best trading set for me yet - plenty of new trading partners to go along with some old friendly names as well...
