ugh...out of the 18 loose packs i pulled a bench and an eddie murray....i am serious. my centering was ok for the majority of the cards with several having minute corner dings.
my fingers are crossed that the box is better. i'm going to open a couple of packs before i hit the sack.
congratulations gosteelers on the henderson....and wow, that palmer looks gem.
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

opened 5 packs from the box. star power is better: palmer, rose rb, carlton, trammel, ko ldrs but the condition is worse. regardless this is fun and i'm going to enjoy ripping the remaining 31 packs tomorrow...i feel a henderson tomorrow.
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

I'm pretty sure ldferg searched all the packs and inserted his stars into everybody else's packs. That's the kind of guy he is.
jeff- I see potential 10s (at least in terms of centering and corners) for all the cards you pictured. I mean really, those cards are distgustingly centered well.
Jeff, you did hit the jackpot! Wow! Nice Hendersons. How are the corners. Both look like they have a good shot at the 9 with the one on the left maybe going higher if the grader is in the right mood.
Are those bad boys heading to PSA under the special? The 9's generally command around $150-175 on Ebay, more than enough to cover all of your ripping fun. And if one gets a 10, that is thousands!
The corners are as good as I've seen any other 9 or 10, it really will depend on the grader's mood, but I'm expecting 9's. Just as long as it can pay for the box I'm happy with it. I was thinking about sending them in by themselves under the Regular 10-day/$15 sub, but I may send them in with some other 80's and 78's that I have ready to sub. I just didn't want to wait WHO KNOWS how long for them to pop. We'll see. Thanks for the props, and I hope to see everyone else pull some Gem Hendersons!!

I would send them in on their own. I have had a few better experiences on the $15 grading special than the $5 or $6. They are nice cards so maybe the higher level of service is the way to go.
I agree. That Left Henderson is STUNNING! Absolutely amazing. From the admittedly low resolution images, the corners look sharp, the centering looks perfect, and the print looks free of defects.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
Nice pulls guys. The Henderson is the card that changed my collecting life. In 1986, I started collecting and was at a garage sale with my dad when we saw a huge box of cards (2000) for sale for $5, they guy told us his son went to college and left them behind, so I poined up some of my paper route money and was off in search of a hidden treasure. Long story short, pulled 6 gem Hendersons rookies out of the box, to this day probably the best card deal I ever came across. Brings back great memories seeing those Hendersons.

Heh. That college kid probably came back from college and saw his whole collection was sold and hung himself a few weeks later.

Well, I opened my box today and I gotta say it was disappointing. No Henderson and VERY FEW stars. I got a couple of centered Carews and a pretty nice Schmidt but the rest of the stars I did get were off-centered. The good news is I have some nice commons to upgrade my raw set with and it was more enjoyable than a casino - well except for the free alcohol part.
A little update, just went through the commons with a 10x loupe. Not looking very good, I believe I have only about 15 that have a shot at a ten. When I go back through them it will more than likely go down to about 8. The only positive my Ryan and Rose have four sharp corners.
I'm looking for any Reds that would be at least a 9 for my set. Thanks

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better. >
sorry to rain on the parade but my results were disappointing at best: 54 packs yielded notta for star power. out of my complete box i yielded a rose (oc with wax stain), murray (oc), carew, rose highlight, and stargell... - prolly 5 or 10 with a chance at a 10 out of the entire 54 packs. i hope to have several 9s.
oh, i did pull a brett (ken) and a henderson (steve)...haha.
here's to those of you that hit the mother lode (jeffc and gosteelers) with the hendersons and to those of you that chipped in to seal the deal on the case, i did enjoy being involved so how many hendersons ended up being pulled?
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

My two boxes are staying sealed for the near future and I know we have not seen Barkus and his THREE boxes anywhere .... so .... alot of this case is still unopened or unreported on
i've not seen barkus chime in either. he submits a lot of cards so i'm thinking he may bust 1 and keep the other 2. i wish i had the patience as some of you.
Thanks,

Its not the patience Dave! Heritage has me more busy with hobby time then I can handle .... I can't even fathom the collecting MESS I would be in if I had 80 wax busting on top of Heritage! My newborn son has all the rest of my home time
i understand. i get caught up in the hobby as well and feel guilty for not spending more time with my kids/wife.
so today i take my youngest son (10) and one of his friends dirt bike riding. my son has a major wreck when landing a jump. flipped over the handle bars and somersaulted 3 times. ended up hyper extending both knees (his knees were black/blue and swollen almost immediately when i got to him). took him to the doctor. thank god he didn't get seriously injured...whew. sorry to go OT.
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

Thanks for organizing this rip David. I got some decnet cards, but a lot of junk too. I guess the thing that keeps up going is the chance that we will pull a card like the Henderson in great condition. It happened to one of us and I am happy for Jeff. Anyone want to organize a 77 rip? Or, for people that want to rip some real cheap wax, 1981.
anyone that is pulling PSA 10 quality commons from the Phillies, please let me know!!
Thanks, Marc
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
