<< <i>Well, I have to admit that every so often, I get carried away......
I just picked these two coins up...one on Ebay - raw XF 40+ - and the other from the Superior auction last night, in an ANACS 50 holder...
Here's the kicker...they're both the same date & mint mark ......
Image: ( Raw Coin )
The ANACS 50 coin:
>>
Received the 1906-O ANACS AU 50 coin today. The image is horrible !!! This coin screams under the edge toning. The fields are proof like...and the coin could have been a 53 just as easily as the AU 50 assignment given. I'm thrilled with it. Its a given this will be in the Dansco album very soon.
The other coin - the raw XF 40 - is already in the old Whitman Bookshelf Album. Looks real nice too !!
The ANACS AU 50 coin came back from PCGS - 02/08 - as a DNC due to Altered Surfaces.

<< <i>The newest addition and this now completes my mid range set...coin is raw and have not inspected it yet but I'm hoping its a keeper:
>>
Well, the coin finally arrived and its about what I thought it was: a VF 35. The fields are very original but the obverse central portrait was wiped lightly. It may - then again, may not - holder, but considering that the coin was destined for the Dansco anyway, I won't be submitting it.

I knew that. In fact Coin World had a nice article about those pieces recently. 1 or 2 known of the 5 different types I believe and the Smithsonian has a few.
Here's one of my favorites; PCGS AU53, and one of the few TrueView photos I've seen that does not do justice to the coin; the colors are much nicer in hand.
Wow, you Barber guys seem just about as passionate as the Lincoln and Mercury guys! Some incredible coins in this thread! Unfortunately, I only have one Barber Dime, so guess I'll put it in here. PCGS AU-58
I have similiar coloring on a 1921 Missouri 2x4 that PCGS wouldn't cross from ANACS (was in a first gen ANACS holder) and subsequently broken out and submitted raw. Three times it has come back as questionable color. Frustrating.
Sure are some sweet dimes within this thread. For some reason I like my Barber stuff white. All I need is a nice MS dime and I'll have a MS/PR set of the series. Which for me is not a common feat. The only other set I have is an Ike date set in unc MS. Anywho, heres a PR Cam half I was lucky enough the get off Rob a while back.

Very pretty coin. Nice Cameo, too.
Also, one of my favorite dates.

Beautiful type coin, exactly what I'm looking for to add to my key/semi key date type set. Currently I'm working on completing sets of Barber quarters and halves, so the thought of working on a Barber dime set is out of the question.
Here is a 1894-S not included in my set as it's not in a PCGS holder. Nice pewter grey toning.
I love the dime dime Rob. I have an AU50 quarter with similar toning I don't have photographed yet. A bit outside my set but I had to get it for the awesome color.
Nice coins guys and Dr. Pete thanks for sharing the 1891 pattern photo.

<< <i>Nice 11-S Don. I'm finding that the 11-S is a tough one to find. >>
Craig, I hope your contact comes thru for you on getting that 11-S in XF 45.
"Five will get you ten" he'll auction it off on Ebay after the Holidays. We're rooting for you.
The 11-S that I sold Don is a very nice coin, however, one that I did not show him, [otherwise he'd want this one more... ]
I only have the reverse image to show for the moment - the obverse is just a tad too large to post; I'm hoping to have it resized in the near future, courtesy of Dave99B.

<< <i>Sweet 92-O Tyler. What are you grading that? Too bad yours and mine don't have small "O"s. >>
Excellent 92-O, Tyler. Its simply amazing getting a half dollar that looks like this - colorwise - with AU 58 detail. You say you bought two from Irv Reichel ? [ whose set on the NGC Registry is coming along very nicely].
Here's my Micro O -

There you go Craig, now that's my kind of XF45 (the 1901)! Super nice crust and toning-- and looks like she's done a little soft time in the streets, tills, etc.
And Tyler, I certainly hope that incredible 92 o catch means that one your lowly VF-XF specimens will fall out of favor in your eyes sometime in the future

Seriously, sweet pattern and I love that micro "o". I have a feeling that is probably one coin I will never own in the condition I want.
Looking for Denmark 1874 20-Kroner. Please offer.
Peter took that image while he was at the Smithsonian. Its the real-deal.
Oh, yeah...lets see what I may not have posted on the boards...something interesting:
This coin was in an NGC MS 61 holder; I requested an AU 58 when I crossed it two years ago.
Here's another 1904-O, this one's in the Dansco album ( EX: ANACS 50 ):
