Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I paid a coin off earlier this week, it had been on extended layaway with a local dealer since I saw it at a show in April. When it finally arrives I'm sure it will become my current favorite. I'll have to mark this thread to come back and update this post with a picture when it's here.

I don't have any kids, so the choice was fairly easy for me. I have only had this coin since May. I still think it is a long-time hold for me. I now use it as my avatar.
I've gotten a bunch of coins since this one but it's still my favorite.

i have seen some off center morgans thruogh out the years but never any with this eye appeal and also this date
first 1898 i have ever seen or heard of off center and with a great date and off center stroke with all the design present and also good offcenter percentage wise also
it is an extremely well balanced offcenter it has everything going for it in my minds eye
extremely unusual; kranky to have a fugio with this wonderful eye appeal and originality and also most importantly a full strong strike right dab center of the obverse
a full details fugio like this is really scarce and with the wonderful eye appeal and extremely important balance of the coin and this coin is well balanced!!++
it is a fantastic fugio the best circ one i haver seen in a longb time with a combo of all these above attributes
newman would be jealous and proud of you all at the same time

Here it is. For the record, I will not stop collecting and enjoying a nice 1921 Peace Dollar. The Early halves just really have my full attention right now.
With me it's really easy. However, it's not just one coin, but many of the same thing. I've told this story to many times I think. Way, way back when I was a kid and the Mint came out with this funny looking silvery looking Lincoln Cent, 1943, I told my Dad I wanted millions of them. He must have really gone out of his way to find so many for a snotty little kid since we didn't really have a lot of money. But he did manage to find and give me lots and lots of them. My Dad is long gone now. I still have 26 rolls of those 1943 steel cents in plastic rolls. It's not really the coin that is my favorite, it's the memory of a great Dad every time I look at those coins. Other coins can be replaced but not those.
It may not be my very favorite coin, but one of my favorites in my 1875-CC trade dollar with a single chop on the reverse. It has fascinated me that the coin made it all the way from Carson City to somewhere in China, and then came back with a chopmark and nearly mint state details. Too bad it doesn't have a type II reverse.

Its got neat color, and the bag marks are not nearly as bad as the picture makes them. Even though its a common date, I really like the look
