<< <i>Actually, I was being sarcastic more than anything else. I just thought resorting to sports sociologists (which may or may not even be true)to further the crazy concept that gambling/drinking was largely responsible for the popularity of football was amusing. Of course what I posted has nothing to do with that - or anything. Lighten up, man - Al-Yankzeera is getting to you. >>

Gambling, along with the ritual of gathering, drinking, socializing the one day a week has alot to do with it. Todays society being far more violent has a great deal to do with it. I am not denying that the cap has influenced interest, but the fact remains that footballs popularity had escalated long before a cap was implimented. The reasons mentioned previously are the foremost contributors to its rise in popularity.

    So in summation:

    1. Abreu has made the Yanks very dangerous again.
    2. Baseball is in great shape.
    3. Football is great entertainment for those who lack the attention span to be a baseball fan.
    4. Baseball isn't fair/Football rocks.
    5. Yanks fans rule/suck.

I guess the only remaining truth is the AL Central representatives will wipe the famous kids from out East and the no-names from the West out of the playoffs in a maximum of four games. image

    softy,

    you're a funny guy. image

I never realized you'd get all up in arms over my posts like that. Again, I was being facetious with that Yankee-fan good other fans bad comment (ok maybe it was a bit corny in the Frankenstein sense), but man you take things way too literally. Lighten up, dude. And to call for bri to "check out" my post, too, wow you sound like you're still in Sweet Valley High with that one! Go start another classless post ridiculing the Sox fans when they're down.

Edit: The Al Yankzeera moniker was created by Bob Raissman, a veteran sportswriter of the Daily News, not me. (See even some sportswriters perceive the Yankee empire in a less than favorable light.) Thought you'd know that being such a Yankee fan and all!

Wont happen Dan, they cant find any example. We are too busy talking about and rooting for our own team than to spend countless hours worrying about and dwelling on other teams.

Actually, I do stand corrected here, soft, I mistook southernards avatar for your own (they are the same). My bad. That doesn't mean that I'll be agreeing with you anytime soon, though. image

Edit: I know you'll feel bad enough when the 'Jints drop to 0-2 Sunday!
