I haven't read through all this but will go along with those who said each holder offers a little something and might be best for a certain segment of the hobby. I like the protection of the BGS holder - and would hands down use it if I collected high-grade modern cards that were prone to edge wear - but I do think PSA has the best holder profile. When PSA gets it right - and they often do - I think their holder is the best because it's the least voluminous and because the focus is on the card itself. Now if they could just figure out how to effectively use the mylar sleeve.

Wouldn't it have been easier to start the thread with the forum "poll" function? Anyway, put me down for PSA! This despite the fact that sometimes the cards move around a little too much, I still like them best.

i think its more important to look at the company's reputation instead of the actual holder....to choose a grading company based on its holder is not a good idea.....i laughed when i read th SCD comment...the minute a card is slabbed in a SCD holder, it loses value....PSA has gained a lot of momentum over BGS i believe due to too many scandals and "sub-bumps" to 10's....

I believe they go together, the holder and the reputation of the Company. Reputation is a given with these 4 Companies. chaz
i cant disagree more that reputation is a given with these 4 companies....your saying then that a gem mint in all 4 slabs will sell for the same? this is not true at all...GAI and SGC prices consistentally sell for less than their psa bgs counterparts....
psa 10 in some cases are now outselling BGS 9.5's......right now i have more trust in PSA then BGS, i have seen too many undeserving 10 BGS lately and it is turning me off...also i dont like the sub-bump policy of BGS were people resubmit cards over and over until they get the subbump (eventually to a bgs 10).....
If "holder" doesn't include the flip or the font/style of the flip, I'd go:
#1 BGS ---- By far. Flip shortfalls: bronze and white color flips are putrid. Sub-grades (BGS and older BVG) #2 SGC ---- Flip shortfalls: centering of flip sucks big time #3 SCD ---- Consistently good #4 GAI ---- Seen many gasket problems (nary a one gasket issue on the hundreds of SGC cards I own) #5 PSA ---- too flimsy. Quite frankly has a cheap feel to them. Pros: light and thin. Flips are pretty consistent, but they just seem cheaply made. The card can move around. Why?

No, I did not say that they all sell for the same. I am saying that all have good reputations and pretty much are recognized as the top grading companies. My poll started with the question as to who has the best holder ie. appearance, protection, appeal etc. Thanks for your input. chaz

My vote is for the BGS holders, although I do not submit cards to them or purchase cards in their holders because I do not like the company. But, their holder is far and away the most superior to all others.
GAI, SGC, PSA holders all flex to some degree, but those BGS holders are rock solid.
The PSA and SGC holders are easy to tamper with, GAI is much better in that department, but tampering with a BGS holder is out of the question.
The BGS holder is the only holder where the card has no movement. Cards in PSA, SGC and GAI holders all can move around minimally, even with the custom flips.
That being said, I use PSA religiously because I actually want my cards to retain their value and be immediately marketable once I decide to sell them whether that happens now or 40 years from now.
