I have been sending them to the artists who drew the art featured on the card. Specifically, I have gotten signatures from Ron Spencer, Melissa Benson, Terese Neilsen, rk post, Tom Baxa, Heather Hudson and Dan Frazier, just to name a few. In addition, I have around 7 or so artists I'm currently waiting on to return my cards, and at least 7 I haven't contacted yet (but plan to). My approach is very similar to yours, except my starting point was a database of their professional & personal websites. I am currently sticking only to those who mention they are willing on their sites, but will eventually get up the nerve to contact others .
I am currently working on 2 card "collections" - a raw one with signatures that I keep in a binder, and a PSA graded one. I really enjoy the autographed one more, since it is more personal (and looks cooler, IMHO). I don't feel bad "wrecking" the cards I'm getting signed either, as I have many of them slabbed - a win/win, I guess

Sorry for the bump - my last post went through but didn't move the thread or list me as posting

bw....just curious, how do you get these players addresses? I tried to get autos via the mail when i was a kid and was always unsuccesful. i always sent them to the team office...always got back a thank you letter with a unautographed picture of the player!
I use www.stararchive.com for my addresses, there is a yearly/monthly fee, but it has 60,000 addresses (I even find a bunch for my '57 football set) hope you dont mind if I post 3 I got back today (I was real scared to send a $125 RC but it worked out)
opening the envelopes is a real trip! Much better than a pack of cards in my opinion!
Those 57's are pretty sweet...I just got back a couple of '57 jim cason's last week. I sent a greats of the game to berry, wish i'd sent something nice. I started mailing out a couple of '63 stancrafts shouldabeen hooked me up with. They're gonna be nice if they make it back.
Majordandy, many people have the book, I've just become an extremely proficient internet stalker. Nothing like cross referencing newspaper articles for last known addresses. I've found about 70 former LSU and UConn players over the past 2 months.
Love this thread . Long before the advent of authenticated cards I was sending out cards for possible autographs. I am attaching some if I can figure out the proper size for this format.
This is a little better but I am still working on the size format. I have well over 200 vintage basketball players. It was a lot of fun corresponding with the retired players and I highly recommend it to collectors.
thanks for answering my question. i think i'll try it out...might try to go after an all auto 1991 topps set...big task, but should be fun. how "known" do you have to be to have your address listed?
I guess I've been lucky, no one has ever signed the top load, always the card. But now instead of sending in a top load, I put it bewteen 2 index cards. And sometimes they will sign the card and an index card, which is bonus.
Does Jay Novacek typically take a long time to send the card/s back? I sent one to him over a month ago and have not got anything back yet. I dont usually do ttm auto's and dont know the usual turn-around times. Thanks
BrianWintersFan, what address did you use for Paul Molitor? Also.....what address did you use for Carlton Fisk? SCN has been very helpful, I have had 65 successes in the past month....great site. Thanks for the help!
Thanks BrianWintersFan, that's very helpful. Who has been your biggest success in 2006? I'm excited to see that Dom Dimaggio is still alive and signing, I would love to get him to inscribe "The Little Professor" on something. Thanks again.
I would have to say Fisk and if the Montana I have is legit. Still need to send that one in to be looked at. Eric Dickerson is another tough one to get as well.
Well this one was a nice suprise. The bad part was that he didn't sign on the bottom border which would have been perfect. The sharpie didn't adhere that great on Wooden. But he did include those two extra goodies which more than makes up for it. For a guy 90+ years old he still has a nice signature.
BWF ... Thanks ... I have a picture of the two of us from one of his basketbll camps (many moons ago) that I'd love to get signed. He is one of the great figures the sport world has ever seen.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards

He is a class act and the greatest college basketball coach ever! Good Luck!
I had a huge day today. I got my first 2 mini helmets back, a bert jones LSU throwback, and a Demarcus Ware Troy mini....Both in under a week. When I get the chance I'll be sure to post a couple pics.
Jay Novacek still hasnt sent me my card back. Its going on appr 2 months. Should I send him a letter saying "I know where you live and know where you sleep" Do You think that might speed up the process?
<< <i>I have been trying to locate an address for Lance Alworth. i have a 1965 Topps Tall boy I would like him to sign. Anyone know how to reach him? >>
He charges $35.00 for auto's. Still want an address??
Hey BrianWintersFan, could you help me with some more addresses? By the way, you have me sold on a Meisselman book, where do I get one and how much does it run? I'm looking for the following players.....
Ed Sharockman Rip Hawkins Roger Davis Johnny Morris Red mack Maxie Baughan Don Burroughs Buzz Nutter Jimmy Orr
Everyone on SCN posts successes with them, though they listed "Harvey" and no address. So......I am now willing to buy a book, it would be super useful.
Thanks for helping get me hooked with this autographs ttm thing. Though I don't read this board that often, this thread did inspire me to send lots of my older cards off and I really look forward to the returns each week.
Here is where to order Harvey's book. As far as the addresses go I will get you those asap. I borrowed out my book to my boss so I don't have it in front of me at this moment.

Either sportscollectors.net which costs $15.00 per year or Harvey Meiselman's huge book which comes out once a year and runs about $60.00
