Good on you for giving the 'well loved' C56's a deserving home too.

I just bought his McFarlane figure. I wish they would hurry up and make a Sawchuk and Plante.
Not sure if I'll keep the 72's and try to finish the set or sell them. I've only gone through the first 200 cards in my raw set. Still have 200-341 to go over for a submission. Decisions, decisions!
I am thinking about collecting a vintage (late 50's or early 60's) PSA hockey set. Up until now I have been strictly a baseball guy, but I am getting more and more disgusted with the steroids infestation and pompous, spoiled players.
I have had the good fortune of meeting players from all of the pro sports, and I have found that hands down hockey players are the nicest of the bunch and most appreciative of the fans. I'm not saying all hockey players are perfect, but they're generally a great bunch.
I also like how hockey sets are so small compared to baseball.
You can't go wrong with vintage hockey. As far as what set you may want to collect I'm sure you'd get many opinions here if you ask. (Most times, though, people (me included) recommend the 1954-55 Topps set. It's probably the most colorful and beautiful set of all.)
In vintage hockey is the 1933 Canadian Gum (V252) set scarce? I have looked online at several dealers and while many have 1910, 1911 and Ice Kings from 33, not many have the Canadian Gum. If anyone knows a good source for these I would be interested in a link. Other than www.ebay.com, that one I got!
V252 Canadian Gum cards are terrible and will sterilize a frog at 100 yds. Run away fast and don't buy any!!!!
Actually, I love them - I have a complete set on the Registry and some low grade dupes also on the Registry as my #2 set. I would trade any of the dupes for similar pre war stuff.
They are really tough to find in good shape Julius Narancsik is going for the set now and will probably grab all the nice ones north of the border (save a few for me Julius...). Be prepared to pay serious coin on decent conditioned cards on eBay - there are at least seven bidders actively going after the set besides Julius and those few of us on the Registry.
I've got a boring write up on the set anyone can have - just email me at mark927@aol.com and I'll send it.
C56, V252, V128-1 sets Hall of Famers from all 4 sports
Well Turbo, it will eventually be going up for sale when I complete this set so you will have a shot at it no doubt....funny how a silly checklist can be so valuable but there you have it........I guess most young kids were like me...always marking off the cards on these lists thus rendering them worthless...
Cool wife indeed I search the Oilers jobs website to see if anything will suit my wife so she can go apply... get the job and hook me up.
Anyone see the new 'Anaheim Ducks' logo for next season? Why they just didn't change their whole name is beyond me.. and nice ripping off the Atlanta Thrasher logo.. at least that's what first came to mind when I saw it.
<< <i>Did you see the Tony O PSA 10 Rookie that Gerry had up for auction on Ebay. It went for $3500, what a beauty of a card! >>
Really? I thought that card looked like dump. A $300 card and a $3,200 piece of plastic. Maybe it was just the scan, but the card looked rather toned for that issue, with the right side appearing quite discolored. And if I had a card that was going to fetch that kind of dough I'd rescan it over and over until I had it sitting properly in the holder, not all c**keyed like that card was.
Agree, Steve. If I was dealing in the high-dollar cards that Gerry sells, you can bet I'd have a top-quality scanner and would take the time to ensure that the card presents well in the holder. I would like to think that the discolouration is the scan and not the card, but who knows?
Since this thread is back ttt, I can flood some more of my recent arrivals. Some of these actually go back a couple of months now, but I just got around to scanning them.
I know that some guys don't like the live action shots, but I love that they captured Espo playing against his brother.
What can I say? I look at any 10 with a large degree of skepticism. Obviously not all bidders do. I just wonder if that was a long-ago graded card that Gerry had reholdered or one of the new 0XXXXXXXX holders. Stroke of genius by PSA, by the way, to try to blur the perceived divide between leading-0 and non-leading-0 cert numbers and to presumably boost reholder submissions.
Anyway, great '72s, phreaky! That's one of my favorite expansion-era sets. I may have to restart an OPC one one of these days.
Thanks phreakydancin. I've had Monsieur Beliveau for about 6 years now. Definitely one of my prized cards from one of my favorite sets. (Maybe one of these days I'll get the Rocket.)

Pink backgrounds rock!
As I was walking through the park, I see a guy with an old Canuck t-shirt.
Only hockey shirt besides the "Lightning" I saw all day. Told him he had a sweet shirt.

Thanks.
You can check DMD Classics.. their stock comes and goes so keep an eye on it once a month or so..

That logo is a cross between Atlanta's and L.A.'s. And are they going to drop the "Mighty" from their name?
And yes, the "Mighty Ducks of Anaheim" will be known officially as the "Anaheim Ducks" next season.
They should have gone with "Los Angeles Mighty Ducks of Anaheim"
Edit: bad link
I had to resurrect it.
This is nice, eh?
The scan doesn't do this card justice. It truely is Gem Mint.

The 72 OPC's are great, too. Much tougher than the Topps vesion, but I love the Series 3 WHA cards.
Am I the only one here old enough to remember it?
