I thought the first Rose PSA 10 sold for close to $800-, give or take.
Once you take Korth out of the equation, I think the value of the card drops somewhat.
On a similar note, both Michael Clum and I are the only two people to submit and get PSA 9s of the 1979 Burger King Pete Rose card, his first card depicting him as a Phillie. I wonder what either of those might be worth -- that BK set has never produced a ten....and there is significantly less availability of product compared to 1980.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

How many '79 Roses did you guys have to submit before either of you got a 9? Is the pop greater than 2 for a 9?

I submitted about five. There are only two in the Pop Report. But I've submitted probably close to five of nearly every card from the set...

From 1978: There are 8 checklists, plus Munson, Johnson (2), Guidry, Figueroa, Tidrow (2), Hunter (2), Lyle, Dent, Stanley, White, Rivers, Jackson (2), Blair
I just submitted the first 1978 Burger King Tigers Milt Wilcox that was graded a '9'. I got it at a card show over a year ago for 25 cents. That Wilcox card is a tough one.
I just sent in about 20 Yankees BK's from 77, 78, and 79. I think the centering on the 77's and 79's is the major problem, but 78 cards seem to have more corner issues. I'll post the results when they pop. Sometime in July

I still have to find a mint 9 Jack Morris. My Milt May was upgraded to an 8.5 by PSA on a review submission, but I should probably try to find a 9 on that one, too.
Anyhow, I will be putting up a few '78 Burger King Tigers on eBay Sunday night (May 4th). I have some low-pop 9's:
Checklist #17 Phil Mankowski #21 Mickey Stanley
I have to raise some money to pay for the gigantic 1975 mini submission that was just charged to my credit card!
I'm just wondering, If a BK PSA 9 falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound??
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
While some may not get excited over sweet, sweet Burger King cards, many really love 'em... especially the BK Tigers. While you may prefer the Topps rookie cards of Trammell, Whitaker and Morris, where they are configured in Brady Bunch-like fashion, all shrunk into little squares and smooshed together with other players, many would rather have the rarer and nicer BK versions. Finding them in mint condition is also difficult, adding to the fun.
...and to answer your question, I found two of my PSA 9 Burger King Tigers (Ralph Houk and Rusty Staub) in the forest. I heard two distinct, crispy sounds as they landed in the dried leaves behind the field where I hit softballs.

As it happens, I don't really collect any of those guys (in spite of admiring the combo of Tram and Lou, and rooting hard for the Tigers in the '84 Series), but I can definitely understand the lure. If there was an individual '78 Dale Murphy card of similar style and beauty, I would be working hard to get my hands on one.
I got goofy and bought 3 BK Tigers sets on eBay a couple days ago in one auction for about $60. Out of 69 cards, I'd say 7 look nice enough to send to PSA. Out of that measly 10%, I found this filthy, freak of nature staring back at me...
If PSA wants to get jerky and slap it with an 8 instead of an 8.5 or 9, it would still be an upgrade over this one...
Well, it's very close to perfect looking to me, too. The corners are all sharp but there is a minor, barely noticeable "soft corner" (probably from the tight cellophane wrap) and two extremely small imperfections on the left border. The centering is perfect, as the scan shows. Also, it didn't fall victim to the "rough cut" and the image is very glossy and clear, without the faded look that some of the BK Tigers have.
PSA has yet to grade a Burger King Tiger a '10' (out of over 500 submitted cards).
I'm always looking for minty (Graded or Raw) fresh 1979 Burger King Phillies if anyone has any for sale or trade.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
That raw Morris I posted a while ago got a 9. It came from an eBay, three sets in one auction, purchase I made a few months ago. After years with only one PSA 9 Morris, two received 9's in the same week (mine + one in the CJ Cardboard Trust set).
All the cards in my set are now 9's... so now we'll see if anybody can get a 10.
If PSA ever adds a 9.5 grade, this would be a candidate...
Does anyone have a scan of the 78 Ferguson Jenkins Rangers card? There is only one registry set, and it has no scans. The guy has an 8 and it seems to be the highest example. It's not even in the Jenkins Master set.
I'm just curious what it looks like. You never seem to see it, even raw, much of anywhere.
I know I know. If I post, I should have better information. But I was perusing some auctions going on right now, and the number 1 registry sets for several of the BK sets are up for auction. I think it is legendary who owes them. Last I saw, they were still no bids, with the minimum being $100 I think.
Ah, cool. Thanks. Nice loking card. I would definitely want one if I were building a Jenkins Master Set.
If anybody missed the last post on Page 9, David bumped the thread, looking for an Al Oliver for his Master Set. My post pushed us over to Page 10, and I would hate for his request to go unseen because I asked an idle question.
Was very interested to see that the 1979 Burger King Phillies set [#2 on the Registry] and the 1980 Burger King Phillies Set [#1 on the Registry], both sold for over $1,100 each.

Wow, I remember this thread. Seems like forever ago that I started it. I miss BK cards. Last I saw, I still had the all time finest 1980 PHR set so that's cool. The card that put me over the top was a Jim Palmer PSA 10 that I got from my own submission. I sold that card to a Jim Palmer collector so I don't think it ever showed back up in a BK set.
Marc those 2 Phillies sets came from my friend that also used to collect them. A lot of those cards were in my sets at one time, I sold a lot to him. I wouldn't mind collecting BK cards again but they are sooooo tough to find high grade. It's not like the regular Topps sets that you can just throw enough money at to have a great set. Hunting the BK cards down is the roughest part.
I didn't win this one, as I thought it went too high [I bid pretty aggressively, nonetheless]
But Memory Lane sold this in mid-May for over $2,000.

Well, I finally finished off my 80 BK Pitch Hit & Run set today. Only took 5.5 years. #2 Current and #2 All Time. I'll take it. Thanks to Raymond Santis (MajorYankeeFan) for selling me the final card I needed.
