Give everyone out there some sort of advice, tip, factoid, picture whatever and you will be entered. One of the coins will go to a YN, so let me know who you are. I'll run this through the weekend and conclude things around noon Monday.

The primary advice that I give every collector is to learn the history behind every coin in their collection and learn to appreciate it as much as you you do the aesthetics of the coin itself.

My advice is to learn a lot before you spend even a little!
My only advice is to make coin collecting fun. Collect what you can afford and don't let anyone persuede you to do otherwise. If you like it, do it
1866 was the first year the motto "In God We Trust" was placed on the reverse of all coins for production. Although the 1866 S half dollar has two varieties. With motto common. And a no motto issue which is scarce, in any grade.
My advice is to collect what you like, not what everyone else likes.
By the way, I am a YN.
Edited for grammer.
Buy books before you buy any coin. Buy coins not the plastic.
Dont be afraid to spend a little extra for that special coin.
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
Don't get catch up in the plastic jungle, raw coins are beautiful too!
<< <i>Only buy coins that you are totally happy with. If you buy it just to fill a slot and don't really like it, every time you look at it you will groan. >>
So you're basically saying that you'll be doing a giveaway eventually.
Factoid: PVC is not actually the problem with PVC flips, it's the plasticizer (which makes the PVC soft) di-2-ethylhexyl-phthalate (DEHP).
Advice: Before you buy that coin, consider whether you might wait a little longer, save a little more money, and then buy the next higher grade. If it looks too good to be true, keep your money and walk away.
Research....can I get a better coin at a lesser price from an unknown individual rather than pay 5% more from a person/dealer with a reputation?
Relish.....you will enjoy your coins better if you use patience to find the coin that "hits the spot" rather than suffering a coin that you will want to replace for the same cost.
Please enter me in this fabulous givaway and CONGRATS!!! On your 10K!!!!!
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Tip: Don't be arfraid of the darkside.

Don't collect coins if you think you'll make big bucks doing it. YOU WON'T.
Okay, maybe you will. But consider yourself very lucky if you do.
If you don't absolutely LOVE a coin the first time you lay eyes on it, DON'T BUY IT.
thanks for the chance and I'm a YN.
<< <i>Cool giveaway.
Tip: Don't be arfraid of the darkside.
My advice: Don't buy a book until it's available. I think CPG2 thought many of us that lesson.
collections: Maryland related coins & exonumia, 7070 Type set, and Video Arcade Tokens.

my advice - practice safe sex. then when you've had enough practice, do it for real.

Congrats on the milestone!
Buy what you like. Spend only what you can afford. Enjoy the coins you have.
Don't fret over the ones that "got away".
advice:
Coins are art as well as history; buy coins that move you.
Use PVC-free flips (Safe-T Flips)! Vigerous use of PVC flips can cause blindness and hairy palms!
My tip? Don't take any wooden nickels (unless they're in a reputable TPG company slab).
My advice:
When you're searching for your next coin, remember patience is a virtue. Take your time and look at many coins of a particular date before buying it. You will enjoy the coin much longer.
For us YN's. I suggest to save up money for that coin that may be out of reach. Even if you have to wait several months to get it.
maybe i'll give away a sack of plastic shards....

It is much much more fulfilling to save up and buy a couple of really great coins every year that take a few months to save up for. This is much better that buying a cheap widget everytime you see one selling for a "good deal" on eBay. You'll quickly end up with 100 crap coins that are all easily replaced.
BUY KEYS AND SEMI-KEYS, NOT WIDGETS!
Thanks again for the chance!
My tip would be:
Look at your coins in natural (sun) light. You don't want to be negatively surprised if the lighting hides something that you see in natural light later and you want to make sure to buy the right coin the first time.
Poor lighting can hide hairlines, spots, ugly toning, small dings, etc.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Factoid- There were more kennedy half dollars minted in 1964 than all of the Frankilins.
A witty saying proves nothing- Voltaire (1694 - 1778)
An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor
does the truth become error because nobody will see it. -Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948)
TIP: When looking for the 1966 SMS Kennedy Half with the missing initials, look for the particularly shiny ones. They were made from highly polished dies.

Hopefully someone didn't already say it...... When collecting, quality over quantity. Patience will be the best friend your collection ever had.
My advice is -
Never look a gift horse in the mouthv !!
