just picked up a 85 topps set for 18.00 all the cards went straight from wax to binder, after review of centering the back centering is not all that great, the rest of the cards are 8-10s, if one knick of white is showing on the black front will that automattically make it not a 10??
Have gone through dozens of hand collated sets, wax boxes and cellos. The average 1985 set is in PSA 6-7 condition. 8's are available, 9's can happen, 10's are rare. Similar results with wax and cello's with mostly 7 and 8's being the result. If you do find cards that are 10 worthy, 60% will come back 9's, 30% 8's and maybe 10% 10's. Along with 86 Topps football, these 2 sets are the hardest 1980's sets to get 10's from.

I just sent in 4 that I thought were worthy of 10's got 3 8.5's and a 7.5 real great eyes on my part
I continue to hear to grade only moon cards, what about my payton? the back centering is good and you can see a little white on the edges i would say a 7-8 is he worth sending in??

Hate to say it but will probably come back a 6 or 6.5
<< <i>nc1, if you are grading for resale you will be lucky to get the grading fee back on a payton 8. >>
A Payton PSA 8 sell for a couple dollars over grading fee, but it is a rarity in that. (Last one went for $8.53 plus $2.00 shipping). The 9's hit over a $100 and the only one on eBay right now is $249.99.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

goes without sayin nice 8's are undervalued imo
Ive had no problem movin hofers and minors for a profit but they have to be really nice.
its depressing, i was 15 when i collected the 85 set and i believe a raw payton was like $3-4, now spend money to get it graded and its worth only $12 as an 8 man times have changed...

Does anyone have one they can sell me?

I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy! Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
Racks are the best way to go for graded material. Check with Elitecards on this board. I know he has an extensive collection of raw 85 material as well as graded dupes. I believe you can get his email from the Registry. he is currently #1 on the set. Good luck
i cracked some rack cases and have thousands of super clean raw cards. I can put together a lot of 1000 or so if you want. They would be NM-MT+ or better. PM me if you want a quote
Does anyone have a spare PSA 9 Kellen Winslow #379 available? Pm or email gregmo32@aol.com Thanks!

That's just about 4 1/2 percent.
