I got these about 2 years ago, so its not a recent pickup, but I had to take pics of these so I figured I would post them. They are all Starting Lineups that were never produced or if it was, it ended up being changed in some way or form. Any questions or comments are always welcome!

Always looking for vintage wax boxes!
  • There has been a couple Steve Young SL's that are suppose to be factory models/prototype/working models or something like that. But they looked the same from what I could see. I have always guessed, if they SL's were, they would not have the copyright and like info on the bottom football or whatever.

Do those have"markings" (copyright, et al) for lack of better term?
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

yeah, they are all marked. Just didn't make the final cut. These were used for convention displays or pics on the back of the package. But in the long run for whatever reason didn't make the final cut.

Loose Starting Lineups look awesome graded. The acrylic cases they are in just make them pop. I just picked this one up yesterday. I actually got it in a lot that I needed something else in. This one is now for sale, but I figured I would show it off here first.

Also posted to my rip thread. Very happy with the card, left to right centering could be better but otherwise a very sharp card.

Finally found a 51 Bowman Mantle that had decent centering for the grade. I really like this one--Mantle's RC is one of my favorites.

Mike, how many years in an "era" for those games? I'm assuming they didn't change it every year -

    Thanx for your interest Mark.

As I said - the first game came out in 1908:

    image

It also comes in a yellow border version.

Then around the 40s, they came out with another version of the game: (maybe even late 30s)

    image

    Again in the 50s:

    image

And again in 1961 - which is the one I posted.

Wow, what a great thread. I didn't know it existed. My last purchase I "won" this at a recent auction. A card I've been waiting a long long time for. MJ

A few highlights for me starting with a short print high number for my ghetto Chicle set that I picked up from the infamous Levi @ 707 for a very fair price actually:

    image

I picked up a bunch of cards for my often neglected Football HOF RC set but this upgrade of my previous PSA 6 was my favorite:

    image

And I finally found Slingin' Sammy at a good price to polish off this 1997 Leaf Reproductions Autographs set since I lack the testicular fortitude of otwcards to go for the actual 1948 Leaf set in autographed form image

    Thanks!

It took me over 5 years to finally get one. The extremely few times I've found a nicely centered Bambi rookie, I've always been outbid. This one showed up on ebay last week with a starting bid $25 under SMR. Probably due to that, I was the only bidder! image
