wow, he is supposed to be a stud, they compared him to Andy Ashby in the beckett roledex. Im sure we can work a trade..especially if you pull a cut! LOL
Yeah, I think he had elbow surgery right before his last year here and they weren't sure if he was going to be able to pitch again. He seems to be doing ok now though. Another great prospect that came from A&M is Zach Jackson. Jackson transferred fro a JuCo and pitched a no hitter in his first A&M start.
And by the way, if the Ballouli you have is numbered 12/55, I'll pay you a million bajillion dollars for it.
Can hardly wait till 2016 when the 1967 style cards come out....

Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
Is this a good set to buy new is the cards have a chance to be money makers. Can you give me a few examples of cards that are good to bu new. Thanks Thibs.
OK, you guys sucked me into this. I've got a case of the Topps on order, but at the show today I bought 3 boxes of the '55 Bowman Heritage. I collect mostly pre WW2, but there wasn't anything there I needed so this killed my fear of coming home with all my money still in my pocket. They look just like the '55 set I have, even the packs and box have the same design. 3 boxes were $50. Did I get hosed, or is this OK? Pulled an umpires autograph (big deal) and a Clemens GU jersey. Either worth anything? I just want the basic set.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
griffins, i am doing 05 Heritage for just the basic set also. I'm not used to modern either and got reeled in by the good people here. The basic set will go in a binder and anything else will be sold, traded, and to help someone who has done much for me in the recent past.

Anthony How many packs in the box? Were they retail or hobby? your friend Mike
Damn Mike, you start asking me math questions after I crack open the wine? 8 packs in the box (7 plus a bonus pack) The price printed on the box was 19.95, the seller said 3 for $50. I dig the cards. My '55 set is Ex or so, these have crisp sharp corners. It's like being at MikeSchmidts house and playing with his '55's, only with out the slabs.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
I would be cautious about someone selling retail boxes for less than the price on the box, but it sounds like yours wern't searched. nice pick up! General rule on ALL retail boxes are to check for the factor seal all the way around with the topps logo and check for tampering. There has been quite a bit of this going around and heritage boxes, if they are loaded like last year, will not be immune.
As far as my black refractors:
Ballouli 17/55 Luis Gonzalez 49/55 Jim Thome 9/55
Total book on the lot is 111.00, so I would have to get a bit more than 30.
not to hijack the thread but, is there much value in the Bowman Heritage? I saw a couple of $19.95 boxes in Target last night and almost bought them just to have something to open. Anybody had any good pulls in this?
You will not make much money back. It is, however, a blast to open. Half the autos are umpires, and the GU usually don't go for more than $3-4 apiece if your're lucky. The SPs seem to do ok, but it's a great looking set.
<< <i>I was told today my boxes should ship tommorow. Probaly have them by Friday or Monday. >>
It's time to set a day/time to have a Heritagefest on CU! It's hard not to just rip everything in sight! Would like to get with Kevin and see what he's up to? Gentlemen Start your scannerssssss!!!!
My first boxes will probably come from the Kuhlmann order, so Chris would probably know better.
As far as those scans Im a bit diappointed.....I really like the look of the cards, but old heritage collectors will recognize some of those pictures...Bonds and Ichiro especially...cmon topps, get some new pics!
other than that, wow, I love the Harridge too! So it appears there are mini-pic variations? Please no purple jersey helton!
So I think we are all looking at a possible group break next week. Perhaps at the earliest this Saturday. Im proposing that we shoot for this Saturday and if everyone is not ready then we can move it. Im going to contact topps and and tell them about it, maybe we can get some press. Has there ever been a post that went over 1000 posts? This could be it!
So if everyone is on board here with Chris' case then we can almost guarentee that an auto and a red auto will be pulled. man a cut would be nice. Ive noticed the breaks on ebay have come from florida so I might check here to see if anyone has gotten them in yet, of course I hate to pay those prices. .....you see what you have done Chris, after dealing with you I want a great price everytime! LOL
John...are you and your boy going with the same game plan this year....put together a set quick and then sell? Do you buy another set later when the prices soften?
I have to admit the prospect of a mass live heritage break is getting me very excited. I think I might have to get the thread going!
Hi Kevin I think that every case should have at least one red auto - now the cuts? Crap! I better duck...got a better chance of getting hit by an asteroid!
Saturday nite sounds great if everyone has product to bust!
2 cases were mailed today, stone193 and griffins were mailed a case each. basilone pandrews softparde wetzel morrie wasy and data driven all will mail on wednesday and thursday. and joe ( aka heritage master) stalin also! and lothar52 i almost forgot you man we be mailed wednesday or thursday also! but we all no you really waiting for next years heritage!
thanks for the business guys! enjoy lets hope someone pulls a 1 of 1 auto! or a black refractor bonds( steroids) card!
p.s. joe stalin you like that picture of those lombardi's? dont ya?
<< <i>John...are you and your boy going with the same game plan this year....put together a set quick and then sell? Do you buy another >>
Joe-
I dont know who you mean by "my boy"...no kids yet..but expecting a baby girl in May.
Not sure on what I want to do with the set. I'm going to build a master set (base, sp, regular inserts, & pennants). I will probably sell off Chromes, Refractors, and Black Chromes on eBay asap. I've never pulled an auto so hopefully this will be the year.
Last year I pulled a Dioneer Navarro (sp?) Black Chrome..and I was like..who the heck is this? It landed me $60+ on eBay..which pretty much paid for the box.
Not sure yet. I may keep this one. They are fun to build. I miss the master sets I've built (every issue except the 1952 design).
sorry John, I thought you had a boy, I guess I was thinking of someone else....congrats on the girl.
Chris...the boys have been around a lot longer than the bucs, so we are still young. I tell you what, if I pull any cowboy autos in my heritage boxes I give them to you for free! LOL
<< <i>Saturday nite sounds great if everyone has product to bust! >>
Mike,
That is easy to say when you have a WHOLE case to to go through. What about us common folk who only have a couple of boxes. Do you really think we can sit on the boxes all day????
I"ll go for a group break, don't know if I can wait til Saturday though! I think I"m going to break a box every nite or 2 with my son, but can go solo on a box Saturday.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
those scans have me very excited, i was hoping for more pose variations and looks like we'll have them. i thought randy johnson was going to be in a yankee uniform. i hope to have mine by wednesday - thursday, CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
I can't wait to get at this stuff either - a local dealer is holding 3 boxes for me when he gets his (a few days, he says). I'll save one for Saturday, sounds like fun!
It would appear the first SP has been revealed to us.. All the promos show Johnson in a Yankees uniform so I assume that is going to be the regular print the other will probaly be the SP.
Short Prints: 3,5,7,20,30,31,33,50,61,69,78,79,82,101,110,118, 125,130,135,155,260,261,273,286,292,296,300,312, 353,389,398-475.
Everywhere I've read says 110 short prints, but from the list I got, I'm only counting 108. Plus, the variations list says #6 and the short print list says #5, so I'm sure one of those is wrong."

Of course, the obvious similarities are there:
Since Major League Baseball discontinued the office of presidents of the American and National League in 2000, Topps reverts to the top execs of 1956, Will Harridge and Warren Giles to begin this tribute set.
This was the first year that team cards were offered by Topps and the 16 teams that were issued in 1956 appear in the Heritage set. However, No. 146 is the Minnesota Twins. It’s too bad they didn’t include the new Washington Nationals because in the ’56 set it was the Washington Nationals, not Senators.
The team cards -- as well as the managers’ cards – have the same number in the set as they did in 1956.
Other oddities and observations:
No. 5 was Ted Williams in 1956. This year it is another slugger, Todd Helton. It would have been better to post Manny Ramirez (who is No. 368) in this slot.
No. 10 is Braves pitcher John Smoltz. In ’56, Warren Spahn was No. 10.
No. 15 is hard hitting shortstop Miguel Tejada. Ernie Banks, another slugging shortstop was No. 15 in 1956.
No. 31 is shared by Albert Pujols and Hank Aaron.
No. 33 is another good match, Vlad Guerrero and Roberto Clemente
No. 61 is Barry Bonds and Moose Skowron. It would have been better to slot Bonds at 130, which was his godfather’s number in the ’56 set. Andruw Jones occupies No. 130 in this year’s set. Maybe Bonds would have him as many homers as Skowron if he didn’t ‘roid up.
No. 70 is a pair of Dodgers left-handed pitchers: Kazuhisa Ishii this year and Sandy Koufax in ’56.
No. 101 was Roy Campanelli in ’56. This year it’s Ivan Rodriguez. (Yogi Berra and Jorge Posada share the same number, too.)
No. 120 is a hard-hitting Phillies outfielder in both sets, Bobby Abreu and Richie Ashburn.
No. 150 is shared by Shawn Green and Duke Snider. Both hit plenty of home runs for the Dodgers during their careers.
No. 153 is the best card in both set to compare. Both are Frank Thomas. The contemporary set is the hard-hitting first baseman/designated hitter and the ’56 set featured the Pirate outfielder. (One lament, they should have given Brett Boone the same number as his grandfather, Ray Boone, in the set)
No. 180 also featured Philly pitchers, Robin Roberts then and Brett Myers now.
No. 191 has two Tigers pitchers, Jeremy Bonderman now and Frank Lary.
No. 200 has two Hall of Fame pitchers; Bob Feller and Randy Johnson.
No. 229 is the only card in both sets to feature a coach. In ’56, it was Harry Brecheen and this year it is Lee Mazzilli.
No. 252 offers a pair of Vernons, Pirate pitcher Vernon Law then and Blue Jay outfielder Vernon Wells now.
No. 300 is interesting. It offered Vic Wertz in 1956, a legitimate power hitter and Sammy Sosa, who would have had Vic Wertz numbers if he didn’t use steroids.
And finally, No. 303, offers an interesting juxtaposition. Whether it is intentional, you have Rafael (Mr. Viagra) Palmeiro and Jim Dyck.

Welcome and Thanks for the great post.
Just called the local hobby shop and they just got 3 cases in at $65 per box.
The guys is not a heritage freak so he will not be busting any for himself.
Going to pick up 2 or 3 today (see if I can snatch their auto)...the cases are unopened.
Hopefully will land them at less than $65 out the door if I buy multiples.
Wish me luck!
