For the board, as many reputable dealers as possible. It's fun to stop at their tables at shows and meet them, and give them business if they're selling coins I'm interested in. You can get a feel for who is on the level here, and it helps to know that at a large show like Long Beach. Or any show for that matter.

We have sufficient bafoons and anarchists,

what we need are more idiots and maroons.

We might get more dealers if we could resist the temptation

to jump all over them when they say something that displeases us.

More bears might be a nice touch.

With limited success, I have been working on my partners at work.

One purchased a $3 and two Dahlonega $5's last year--guessed who picked out the coins for him?

The other started at a type set and is thinking about specializing in Trade Dollars.

Phil Gramm (sp?), the former senator from Texas. He seemed to have a genuine interest in coins.

When it comes to shows, I'd rather NOT see booth babes. Sorry, when I am spending my money, I don't like distractions. I try to keep business separate from horniness.

When it comes to trade shows, if I am interested in a product, I ignore the booth babe and look for someone who looks middle-aged or older, as that person is the one most likely to be able to give me technical specs about the product.

PS: Many or most of the booth babes are young enough to be my daughters. I don't ask women this young out for two reasons. They might say 'yes,' or they might say 'no.'

A few dealers I trust have told me they don't have time to waste checking out online forums.

In their absence, we need to find more intersting collectors with time on their hands. Buddy Ebsen is gone, but we can still try to recruit the likes of Penny Marshall, Gary Burghoff, or maytbe even Dennis Rodman. Getting supermodels du jour to post here is as likely as a personal response from the President to an email to the White House about the crime of 1873.

Is anyone working on an internet connection to Heaven or Hell? When that has been established, I'd love to read the posts of Walter Breen, Louis Eliasberg, Max Mehl, Abe Kosoff, King Farouk, Col. E.H.R. Green, and a few others.

Until the internet extends to the deceased, I'd love to read posts from Alan & Diane Hager, Les & Sue Fox, Robert Chambers, Ken Pines, and several of the largest advertisers in coin-related print media.

Women. Why?, because it would make the hobby much more interesting (on so many levels).
  • As a full time dealer, the forum is an interesting arena to get viewpoints and feedback from collectors. The unforunate part of posting as a dealer on the forums is the flaming that follows a hot topic. I myself watch the forum and occasionally add to a thread that is a numismatic topic of intertest.

At the end of the day, any numismatic site that offers up a meeting place for all of us to communicate is a step in the right direction.

It would be great if more high schools had coin clubs. There were none in my high school, although we had a chess club and a D&D club. I think getting kids interested in high school would be a good thing. At least they have some money to make purchases, and have the ability to attend shows.

We need to get rid of the geek image, by getting more high profile collectors.
