This may be the giveaway to top all giveaways. Lakesammman/Tim Larson recently sold off one of the finest FE/IH collections ever assembled, but set aside one coin he knew had sentimental value for me. It was the first certified IH I ever purchased, an 1898 NGC MS67RD, and it returned home today even nicer than I remembered it.
It's ruby red toned with jewel-like luster that's impossible to capture through NGC plastic. It's also a Snow-25 MPD (top of 9 in denticles) which places it among the highest graded varieties of all-time. As clear as that MPD is, the embarrassing part is I never noticed it when I owned it! Needless to say I've become much more variety conscious since then. A lesson learned, a coin returned. Thanks Tim!

It's a great story, and a spectacular coin! Nice gesture on Lakesammman's part and thanks for sharing the pic and the story.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Dang... you had my pulse rate up for a minute!
Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.
