However, if you buy it from me and get it holdered by PCGS or NGC (in the typical fashion) and it gets graded as a MS 65 or better, I'll but it back at $12,500.
That means that the coin has probably been body bagged a few times for being AT. The fields and the devices look very clean. However, the images do not indicate the strength of the luster.
$12,500? I have a beautifully toned 1880-S that is already certified as MS-66 that we are selling for $750.

No Cameron, he would not. Adrian never sends in coins and does not play the crack out game. Why? Beats me, but please know the person before making that type of absolute statement on a public forum.
I have seen the coin and yes it will slab.....the colors are sitting on smooth luster that is mirror like and deep. VERY nice coin with Sonnier like color and Luster. We have sold only two coins in 4 years with this kind of luster and color combo that I would call Sonnier color. Sonnier owns one of them now.......
There is not an 1881-S dollar on the planet that's worth $7K.
Maybe the big snake is shipping this one from Mars, which expains the price tag.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Ok, I lied. One more comment. Coins like this are really, really hard to find. Bryan from Louisiana owns just about all of them...but don't worry, I'm taking really good care of myself and hope to outlive him. (I hope he got that carton of cigarettes I sent him.)
This gets back these differences of opinion about "wonder coins" that are overall as common as dirt, but "rare" in certain condition.
Sane people can't win these arguments because when the buyer takes a beating no one ever hears about. It's only when the seller makes a killing that the promoters crawl out of the woodwork to brag about it.
BTW I know that this on the "wrong side," buy how much is this worth? The "host coin" to this color is an 1879-S in MS-64
And here's an 1892 Columbian. PCGS only thought that this was an MS-63 in the late 1980s. It was tried a couple of times.

I don't think it will go 65. Anaconda knows what he's doing. If he thought he could get an extra 5k or more for that coin just by paying the submission fee, he would have done it by now.
Here is a quote from the auction that I find amusing
1881-S Morgan Dollar. If you are a rational and intelligent person, and I'll assume that you are since you have an interest in coins, then you will have a few questions.
I guess he forgot about Barney as well as a few others that frequent this board. I think there is more then one person on here who would not be considered rational.
However, if you buy it from me and get it holdered by PCGS or NGC (in the typical fashion) and it gets graded as a MS 65 or better, I'll but it back at $12,500
Okay. Buy the coin. Dip the coin. Submit the coin. Coin goes MS65. Cha-ching!
Good info braddick......shady....very shady..........From $152 to $7500...........something stinks around here regardless of what anyone says and of course it's a free country so I will state that as my opinion
The coin is what it is, regardless of all the speculation and wild assumptions of what Anaconda would've, should've, or could've done, or his motivations for whatever actions he sees as appropiate.

Scam? No. Everyone can price the coins at whatever levels they want as long as it is not hyped as an investment. ANACONDA never said it was natural toned. He lets you decide and provides better pics than the ANACS auction.
Possibility that it will make it in a PCGS or NGC holder.....Very slim. Otherwise TBT would have bought it and sold it back to ANACONDA.
It's not a scam, it's just a revealing look at one of the realities of the coin business thanks to Braddick. Maybe ANACS was wrong, it grades at PCGS, and the buyer makes a nice profit selling it back to the seller. Or maybe a buyer likes it so much he doesn't care if it certifies. But if you don't have more money than you know what to do with, beware of pretty pics, slick text, and suggestions of easy profit. Interesting post.
I would have gone $185 for it if i was in the race and sent her to ngc
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
Thats a coin with rare and magnificent color. It's one I'd be proud to own and/or sell.
I'm not convinced it's AT. If it is, where are it's "easily reproduceable" clones hiding? Can't say I've seen any.
I value the opinion of Anaconda and TBT more than ANACS regarding ultra high end toners. They help make the market in this type of material. Just my opinion.
<< <i>I am very sorry I read this thread. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. >>
I agree. I think I'm done with this. I have seen many of Anaconda's auctions and I don't feel that anything he has sold has been grossly misrepresented. He provides gorgeous pictures that anyone can grade from. Do I think he's a little pricey? Yes, but maybe that's because I can't afford his auctions. And that is my problem, not his. Anaconda, if you're watching this thread, would you please respond to these people so that this thread will die. I think it has ceased to be constructive (if it ever was).

Just cause ANACS has marked a coin as AT does not mean it is AT (nor an AT coin NT because they slabbed it). TBT has seen the actual coin in person and in his expert opinion it was incorrectly attributed by ANACS, he in turn bought it and probably made some good money. There is nothing wrong with that as many other experts on this board regularly make "rips" and brag about it here (some for significantly more than I'm sure TBT made here). It's just the workings of one transaction that has seemingly become transparent and open to criticisms. There is no proof that the coin is really AT and if I remember correctly, many people were really enamored with it when originally posted by Anaconda. If AT, where are it's many brothers and sisters that almost always follow?

Buy it NOW for $7K?????

Maybe not worth 7K to you but I offered 10K to a guy for one. He declined my offer and didn't even counter me.
I was and am prepared to go to 20K for the coin (but I'm not going to bid against myself. At least not right now.)

Sometimes we hear about it. Barney, for example. What did he get when he sold? A third of what he paid?

My thoughts exactly!! If I remember old Barney got $700 (buy price of $2500 or was it $3000 in coin value trade) and that was before the sellers fee.

When it comes to color that is a very true statement. Every buyer has a "look" that they like-dealers and collectors. Each to their own.

Not only have you seen it, but you've owned it. I was the underbidder:

If ANACS AT'ed it I can now certainly see why the offer by ANACONDA is being made.

How much for this one:
Not so marvelously toned but PL. (I hope)

It sure looks PL to me. Beautiful surfaces. It's a shame there are marks on her cheek. But good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I was just thinking the same thing.

So once you crack out a $150 coin from ANACS holder that says Artificially Toned it becomes a $7,500 coin
If I buy it and get it back in a ANACS holder that says Artificially Toned will Anaconda buy it back at a discount for $10,000 ???
