Thank you wolfbear. It can’t be easy bearing the responsibilities as the gatekeeper of the Ryan Leaf thread. When others won’t stand up and be counted, you invariably will. When others mock our mediocrity, you stand up and let others know that we are built in a mans image whom mediocrity runs deep; and we are proud of this. We are proud that it’s ok to not be a fan of "the person that shall not be named".

With no other pressing commitments these days, Ryan Leaf has returned to Washington State to complete his degree. Among his courses, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer says, is broadcast management. This could be a bit of a challenge because Leaf's media skills were as woeful as his quarterbacking talent during his brief NFL career. When the San Diego Union-Tribune called last year, for instance, Leaf said, "Man, what the [bleep]! How'd you get my number? ... Man, you fools are stupid.''
"""Though it wouldn't take much, Leaf's younger brother Brady might even eclipse Ryan's home state popularity by making a name for himself at Oregon, where he's listed as a backup redshirt freshman quarterback entering the 2004 season. At 6-foot-5, Brady Leaf has the same build and brawn that made Ryan a force in the Pac-10 in 1997.
Brady Leaf also has acquired a similar taste for the San Diego media. He declined to comment to the Union-Tribune about his brother's career change, conforming to the standard public position of those who both love and hate Ryan Leaf.
Good or bad, they'd rather not talk about him. """"
Once we eclipse the "name that shall not be mentioned" thread, we can move on to Brady Leaf. Always thinking ahead for ya......

Can't really tell for sure if the writer of that jersey story is a Ryan Leaf fan or not.
Maybe he should try to focus more on Ryan's accomplishments, rather than dwelling on his failures ... >>
Let's see, the only accomplishment I can think of (other than conning the Chargers ), is marrying the Charger cheerleader. Then again, she did wake up and divorce him Hopefully she also got all his money in the settlement
It's really all too easy for all you non-athletic types to poke fun at a man who posessess all the physical skills you've always lacked.
Ryan Leaf was a total failure, but he has millions of dollars in the bank and a very pretty wife. Most of you can probably relate ... except you don't have any money in the bank or a very pretty wife ...
Now let's get back to praising Ryan's accomplishments ...
LATE BREAKING NEWS FLASH! THERE HAS BEEN A RECENT RYAN LEAF SIGHTING!
Here's the scoop: Ryan Leaf to coach QBs at West Texas A&M
CANYON, Texas — Ryan Leaf, a former Washington State quarterback who was a bust in the NFL, returned to football far from the spotlight Tuesday, joining Don Carthel's West Texas A&M staff as quarterbacks coach.
"I feel very honored to be a part of coach Carthel's staff and a part of an up-and-coming, successful program," the 29-year-old Leaf said. "About a year after I retired from playing, I decided that I wanted to get back to college, where I had the greatest time of my life, and to get involved with college football."
Leaf was selected second in the 1998 draft by San Diego. He threw 14 touchdown passes and was intercepted 36 times in the NFL. Injuries and off-the-field problems added to his woes.
Ex-WSU coach Mike Price, who is the coach at Texas-El Paso, put Leaf in touch with Carthel. Leaf earned his degree from WSU in May.
Leaf is expected to start work in early March. The Buffaloes were 10-2 last season, Carthel's first at the school, and led NCAA Division II in passing offense.
Leaf replaces Wes Phillips, who left along with offensive coordinator Lee Hays to take the same jobs at Baylor.
you should watch the interview with him on real sports on hbo. pretty cool.
he said the 5 years in the nfl were the worst 5 years of his life, he said the reason he didn't succeed was because he had never lost and didn't know how to adjust to it. he also said when he yelled at the reporter started his downfall...........real sports said if he was winning games leaf could yell at the reporters mom and nobody would say anything. has nearly all the money he made in the nfl and is finally happy and didn't care what people think.
thanks wolfbear.. nice to meet you! i hear the state of montana is very nice actually, but ya gotta watch out for grizzlies and barfights.. hopefully not in the same night
in all seriousness, i actually have a few "good" ryan leaf cards around here somewhere.. if i could find them i'd throw them away but since i can't, I will donate them to anyone who seriously likes him.. i have saved a few really crap players rc's with the hopes of one day putting together an ultimate loser pack.. maybe a leaf, a marinovich, a bosworth and a druckenmiller? any other suggestions for my all-bust team? the worse, the better... if anyone wants the leaf cards, speak up and they're yours when and if i find them..
ps - i saw that thing on real sports with cryin' ryan, and it was fun to laugh at him all over again.. may i just one more time say hey, great pick san diego!!!
LOL forgot about Druckenmiller! Thats a great idea about an all bust team, you could add Ki Jana Carter, Rick Mirer, David Klingler, Tony Mandarich to name a few.
Others may have failed miserably, but dudes, let's try to remain on task here! We must focus! This thread is intended to be a discussion of Ryan Leaf's accomplishments!
Not only that, but an opportunity for all of his fans to display their Leaf memorabilia.
Here are some of my cards. By the way, they are from my personal collection so they are NOT for sale, so don't even think about asking me how much I want for them!
... unless your offer is for more than five bucks ...

From the 'Interesting facts about Ryan Leaf file' :
Did you know that if you rearrange the letters in Ryan's name you can make them spell yarn flea ?
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
to be a "Leary Fan"

Very clever indeed gmoneystyles.
Although I see you were forced to use the Canadian spelling of 'leery'.
Or were you refering to this guy
who just by coincidence happened to be a slightly better QB than Ryan Leaf.
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
who is also a better QB than Ryan.

I like your style montanafan. You fit in well here.
For no particular reason, you're a fan of some obscure state that nobody's ever been to.
My moniker used to be northdakotafan, then alittletowninidahofan, but ultimately I downgraded it to wolfbear.
