ITS SMACK TIME BABY, BRING IT HERE OR GO HOME!!!!!!!!!

joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
I smell a bit of smack in the air and suddenly I remember its almost September! Every year Im here backing my
team and talking smack and killing all the band wagon jumpers! There are always those who wait until their team is
winning and then come on here all proud and try to tell us that they have been a fan since.....GARBAGE. Here is
how this works.

This is the smack post thread for the 04 season. You come bring solid smack and back one team......ONE TEAM
I don't want any oh I like this team and this team but Im from here so I like this team but blah blah is my
favorite player so I like........real fans can only like one team. Everyone else is the enemy. If a guy played on
your team his whole career and then jumps ship then he is crap and will be destroyed!

Im offering all you newbies a special treat. Below is my take on the teams. I suggest you read and re-read
several times so you know a little about what is going to happen this season. I KNOW that not everyone is
capable of bringing smack, but hey I can't teach you EVERYTHING!

OK, get a pen and paper ready!

AFC East:

Fish: It would of been fun to see you sink fully loaded but Ricky wants to suck a lolli-pop and Boston is out for the
year after he slipped eating a snow cone.....Maybe he a Brain Griese can hang out togehter. Please assume your
position at the bottom of the division!

Jets/Bills: You play in the cold but you are going to need the snow plow guy in every game just to break .500, why
even play the games?

Patsies: You are fraud, Brady has a big head and now everyone is gunning for you! Its too bad that the schedule
makers game you and easy first 9 games. None the less you will choke when the chips are down.

AFC North:

Squeelers: You got nothing! Your big stupid draft pick will be another Ryan Leaf. If I have to smell the bus
again this year Im going to vomit. It will be good to see you getting rolled by the Brownies again this year!

Cincy: PLEASE roll out Carson Palmer so we can take repeated blasts at him...better yet paint a bullseye on
his back! Rudi Johnson is a one hit wonder. Bye Bye Marv!

AFC South

Titans: Remember them because they will never win the big one. The night you fell a few feet away from a
ring agasint the Rams was the day you gave up everything. Chris Brown is not the answer and McNair
is over the hill...maybe he a Vinny can get matching wheel chairs!

Colts: Dungy is a punk and he knows it. Manning is soft and everyone is gunning for him. Marvin can't run all
day!

AFC West:

Cheifs: talk about one hit wonders, let see what you can do against a real schedule..oh wait you are again playing
a softy...thats ok, you may take up precious playoff room but you are an easy game in the playoffs....and if
I see Dicky Vermiel cry one more time Im going to puke!

Raiders: Oh Im looking forward to chucky bowl II, Sapp will get nothing and then we will see some team chemistry

Broncos: Champ won't score you points, good trade. Feel lucky that you play the Raiders and Chargers 4
times a year!

NFC East:

This has to be the softest divison in football. I was sad to see that we don't play all of you again like last year
when we rolled you all.

Philly: The ultimate chokers. McNabb has been getting pointers from Jaws. The guy can't win. He runs all over
the place beating teams like the Giants and Niners and then shuts it down when he has to play the beefy
NFC South. You have no running game STILL and no recievers. Your D has some big names but the same
stink is there. Be gald you schedule is soft and be glad the Bucs aren't on it.

Cowgirls: I could write 10 minutes on these ladies. Vinny has to be the funniest move this preseason, but I guess
since superstars Henson, Carter and Hutchinson were BUSTS, you had to go another route! I hear that Deion
wants a shot at starting QB! Look for a season ending lolli-pop..urr I mean injury to George around week
11 when he starts to get tired. Be glad you play the Giants twice a year!

Skins: My pre-season pick to win more games this year than they did last! HA Spurrier is gone and all that is
left is a bunch of hot air on D. First victim!

Giants: PLEASE roll Eli out, after we batter Kurt Warner and live through the shouting match that Mrs Warner
and the Giants coach will have, we want to knock you into next month! Note to Philly fan: It is your duty to
get to this guy and rip him in half!

NFC North

Vikes: The Cards own you and that is sad. You are still choking right now as we speak. You have no D and
Moss is sick and tired. Tice is STILL and idiot....oh and did I mention the cards own you?

Pack: I put my money on Favre this year.......I think his wheel chair is a bit faster than Vinny's and McNair's! be
thankful you play in a division with NO DEFENSE!!

Lions/Bear: Cha ching times 4

NFC West

This division is a pain...all those 4 o clock games are a pain waiting up to see how my fantasy guys did against
you. Move your games to 10 so they are over quicker.

NFC South

Panthers: Can you say one hit wonder? You won't win all those nail bitters this year. All your players left and
you are playing the toughest division in football. Bye bye

Falcons: Please roll out Mike Vick so we can take target practice on him, the only thing better than hitting
a QB going full tilt in the back, is chasing a QB down first and then hitting him full tilt in the back. Vick won't
last a few weeks and then what??? Doug Johnson...LMAO oh yeah thats a good one!

Aints: You are the NFC version of the Fish, look good at the beginning and then choke time... see you soon!

BUCS: Now this team looks good! Major improvments on offense and they same great D that we have all
watched murder your favorite team for years. Sure we will miss Lynch but we have others. Sapp is gone and
good riddance! Rice will be pitching up tents in the opponents back fields! We will rule again this year like we
did in 02.

So who is in? Once the season starts only the people here will have bragging rights, the other are just slackers
and band wagon jumpers.

......ding ding...class in session! Bring it!

joestalin - To say that the Eagles have "no receivers" is rediculous. That's last year's news. You must be spending too much time lately on the internet porn sites and too little time at NFL.com. The Eagles will be in the Super Bowl this season - you can count on it!
  • Im off to work, Ill get into this ... More later...

JS, how can you say the Bucs are improved image

As for the Vikes D, you need to see who they picked up this year. This wont be the same old paper sack D. This, I guarantee.

It aint so Joe... The Bucs will be worse than last year. Their offense has no quality and their defense lost a couple of it's best. That D-line will suffer without Sapp, so don't lie to yourself.

And yes, I will even go so far as to say I have no doubts that my beloved (and usually pathetic) Lions will win more games than your freakin lousy Bucs will this year. Further, I believe that Detroit will contend for a spot in the Playoffs barring an injury plagued season such as last year.

With that being said, I think the most obvious choices for the Super Bowl IMO are the Colts and Eagles.

    JS -

The Eagles and their fans wish the Bucs the best of luck in the regular season.

Here is a to do list for the Eagles this season in chronological order, besides winning the NFC East and dominating their division rivals -
Thrash the Panthers on October 17, making sure to cheer loudly when Jake DelHomme is carried off the field.
Thrash the Packers on December 5, wishing Brett Favre a happy retirement.
Thrash with much joy and excitement the Bucs in the playoffs, winning vindication for past defeats.
I see the Bucs secondary pulling Sharpies out of their socks and asking Terrell for his autograph after he burns them mercilessly.

Good luck to everyone who has been faithful to their teams through the good and bad. For the bandwagon jumpers, pick one and take your punishment.
  • I'm all in with the Vikings just like I am every year. Tice says the defense looks real good, we'll see. Hopefully he's right. Moss is still gonna get 2 touchdowns a game and Daunte Culpepper will hopefully step things up a bit. Why is it Joe that the only team that looks good in your eye's are the Buc's? They don't have nuthin'! Gonna be a tough year for you I think.

Like Dougie says in the "50 first dates" movie, "Go Vikings"! image
Culpepper to ?, only God knows at this point!
  • Well I've spent a good deal of time analyzing each team and my picks are

    AFC East - Pats
    AFC North - Ravens
    AFC South - Titans
    AFC West - Broncos

East is a no-brainer. Although Ravens have little offense their D should carry them through the WORST division in football. In the South, Colts suffer from injuries namely Manning gets hurt. West, the fact that the Chiefs have NO D hurts them this year when they actually play good teams.

    NFC East - Eagles
    NFC North - Vikings
    NFC South - Falcons
    NFC West - Seahawks

East is a no-brainer. It'll be close but the Vikings should slightly beat the Packers for the North - same with Seahawks Rams. South could be a very exciting division. Of the 8 divisions in the NFL, these four teams are the closest. Bucs D is not what it used to be and their O isn’t very good. Saints beat the Bucs every year but can't beat any good teams. Panthers may be the best in the division but their schedule is the TOUGHEST. Falcons if Vick is healthy are a playoff team and can take this division.

That said my favorite team is the Falcons.
  • The Bucs will not make the playoffs this season.

    The Eagles will.

    Here endeth the lesson ...

The Steelers wont need much of the Bus this year, their primary back will be Duce Staley...and he's playing behind a better line than he has ever had. Look for big numbers from him. Watch also for our "big stupid draft pick" to be the best QB in the AFC within 3 years.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Good to see some of the die hards back, and also to see the same "no-team" posters
back! Someone needs to tell cowgirl fan that it don't matter who you are running down the sidelines if
your QB is trowing it to the other team or is laying on the ground. Big D has NO D and no O either, but hey
they do play the Giants twice a year!

As far as the bucs, we only lost two guys on D and McFarline is better than Sapp! Again, Lynch will be missed
but when Rice and the boys are in the backfield on every play who matters if so and so is open down field...the
    ball will never get there!

...and how can you compalin with Pittman, Alstott and Garner in the backfield? If Joe J and Keenan stay healthy
put them with Galloway and Mike Clayton and you might just have the starting O for the Pro bowl! Brad Johnson
will be back to his 02 form and we will be putting up major points!!

Well, its good to see everyone back, of course no one brougth smack but we can work on that later. It all
    kicks off tonight!

Sapp is better, period. You know that and so does the rest of the league. It will hurt and could be a huge factor as the D line makes the DB's better. If there isn't as much pressure, those DB's can't run all day and will get toasted. And as far as the offense, they are pretty sad. Nothing more than a bunch of NFL refugees who can't make it on good teams. The Lions will be better at EVERY offensive skill position QB/RB/3 WR's.
You will see. Hell, you guys picked up Schroeder. He sucks so bad, yet he will probably be your best WR...

Oh, I know the names but their D is so bad, that's the only player ESPN highlights when they talk about the Vikes D. Aside from that carnival, there is nothing else to mention on their D. Everybody thought their defense improved going into last year, but it returned to form after the first 6 games...LOL.

Further, guaranteed Detroit will win more than 5. Hell, they won 5 last year on coaching alone as most of their starters missed significant time last year with injuries. They have more depth by far this year. And watch out, Detroit had thee best draft and one of the best off-seasons for free agents. They only improved at every position, they didn't lose anything of note. Harrington will now be able to throw to Rogers, Williams, Streets, Hakim (not often), Alexander as well as surely improve at the RB position with either Jones or Pinner (Nope, not Avon WC). They picked up a pro-bowl lineman in Woody, 2 nice DB's in Bryant and Marion and Lehman will be an improvement in the middle over anybody they had...

  • Kevin, Booger Mcfarlane has the potential to be dominant. I played against this guy in high school and watched him through his LSU years. He just hasn't gotten alot of playing time in the NFL. I have to agree with you that Sapp going to the Raiders is no big loss. You also got a serious playmaker at WR with Michael Clayton. Look for him to have a huge year, especially with the league cracking down on all the contact DBs make. As for me, I'm backing the Texans. If David Carr stays healthy all year, I think they are definitely playoff bound, even in their tough division. Last years ROY, Domanick Davis, will have a break out year. I predict over 2000 combined rushing and receiving yards. He tallied over 1000 rushing yards last year in only 9 starts. Just a taste of things to come. Hey Kevin, you need a new post for college FB (much better than the NFL) smack.
  • Oh yeah, George O' Leary is GONE, now they actually have a Defensive coach in Ted Cottrell..

Kenechi Udeze was this years Steal in the draft. If you arent a Vikings fan you probly dont know this. Last time I knew the Vikes were good was 98, they did alright till the Mike Morris snap, so you might want to believe me image

    Now, MY predictions....

    NFC East

Washington ... Clinton Portis will make a differance, they will edge out the Eagles in week 16

    NFC North

Minnesota will end the regular season witht he best record in the NFL. Not only because of their Offense, but the top 7 in the NFL Defense. (#1 Offense)

    NFC South

Tough pick for me, Im going to go with New Orleans edging out the Panthers. Duece will have a great year, and Horn will too.

    NFC West

Rams... Bulger, Holt, Faulk...Cant argue with that Offense..

    NFC Championship Game

    Minnesota 31
    St. Louis 21

    AFC East

Pats, hard to argue with these guys. Great coach, great QB, great team...

    AFC North

Tough, I would go with the Bengals if they stuck with Kitna, but since Carson is at the Helm, Ill go with Lewis and Crew... Ray that is...Ravens

    AFC South

Colts, best QB out there, good coach that should get the D in line...

AFC West K.C. Hall should play more at wideout, too many big names on O to cover that weak D. It HAS to be better this year, right?

    AFC Championship Game

    Colts 31
    Chiefs 28

Superbowl XXX??? what is it now 39??

    Minnesota 34
    Colts 31

Wrong again. Scott Boras, Ankiel's agent, specifically asked Walt Jocketty to limit Ankiel's workload until he turned 22. This involved keeping his pitch count below 100, and the Cardinal's obliged.

Yes, if Vick goes down for a long period of time like last year, the team is in trouble. But the Falcons can manage a game or two without him.

Beef, I'm not a fan of the Vikes, but am a fan of the entire NFL. I'm certainly aware of who Udeze is as well. I follow the Pac 10 almost as closely as I follow my Michigan Wolves and the Big 10 and of course Michigan lost to USC in the Rose Bowl last year. To say there is a steal of the draft before he actually plays is silly though. I know people like to throw that phrase around, but he may turn out to be as much of an impact as Leaf was. Further, I can't really ever say IMO that drafting a D-lineman in the first round could ever really be a steal. He may be good, but only time will tell... By the way, Minnesota will not have a D in the top 7... likely not in the top 17 an maybe not in the top 27 image

    Hey Joe,

Unfortunately, your team gets schooled in week one this year.... when the return of Joe Gibbs and the Redskins show you a little blast from the past! Portis will get a huge start on his 1500+ yard year by exposing the weakness in your D.

We've got a few kinks left to work out, and Jansen's shoes will be hard to fill, but come on man .... the bucs ... get real! image

As a New York Jets fan I am certainly excited about the season. Although, I suppose I could have said that every year since the Tuna arrived in town. Herm seems to have changed the philosophy somewhat and the "New Look" defense should have more speed and there is a lot more depth on the line and with the linebackers. The new co-ordinator is also going to present different looks and should blitz enough to make the other team at least have to design an offensive package. The offensive line is improved and the skill players are very good even if there is not enough depth. The special teams should win them a couple of games with Moss returning punts and Westhoff skilled at making most kick returners look great. Obviously, being in a division with the best team in football will hurt but a play-off berth is a realistic goal.
As for the other teams mentioned, good luck to the Vikings and your new defensive co-ordinator Ted Cottrell. At least now I will see if Ted - rush 4, play the cover 2 and get killed against the run and short passes was the problem or if it was the players. Watching the Raiders run 19 straight running plays to start the game last year when Rick Mirer was the quarterback was about as frusterating as can be imagined. What did he expect the Raiders to do with Mirer, throw deep?
I look forward to watching Terrell Owens with the Eagles. I can just see him with his hands on his hips staring at McNabb after McNabb running for his life, throws off his back foot and sails it. Owens will not even go up to attempt the catch.
Dallas has the Tuna and Vinny and a quick and active defense so they will come out of the NFC. Vinny can still make all of the throws and Keyshawn was always a great target for him.
I wonder which team will be the surprise this year. Every year it seems to be somebody different.

Obviously, this comment was bait for me. I tried to stay out of this one but I couldn't let this slide. I'm no smack talker but I can tell you this. It's been a few years since I've been able to talk about the Vikings as a legitimate Superbowl contender but this year they are.

Culpepper has developed in to one of the very best in the league.
Moss is the best in the league. Robinson will be a nice complement.
Michael Bennett is greased lightning and there is great debt at rb. Could be the very best running game in the league.
Two very good play making tight ends that are also good blockers.
    The offensive line is outstanding.
    The secondary is solid.
    Kicking/Spec teams is solid.
The speed on both sides of the ball is scary, and speed kills baby.

The D line is really quite good. Everyone will know who Kevin Williams is by mid season. He played like an all-pro towards the end of his rookie season last year. Hovan has de-bulked and re-captured his quickness (a must in the Vikes scheme). Udeze could take them from good to great if he pans out.

The one concern I have is at linebacker. No depth, not much experience, but good atheletes with speed at all three spots. Breaking in another new Def coordinator also worries me. The unit could take some time to jell but I think they will.

The X factor: eleven games in domes on turf. The Vikings are built for it.

As I have said before pre-season predictions are a crap shoot. One needs to see at least 3 or 4 games to make an intelligent prognastication, but since this is a smack thread here goes my prediction:

Barring injuries, the Vikings and the Eagles (It pains me to admit) are the best in the NFC and will meet in Minnesota for the title.
New England is actually better this year with Dillon at rb. But they won't win the Superbowl again. Winning three in a row just won't happen. I could list the reasons but that's another topic.

Minnesota over Indy in the Bowl.

  • Patsies: You are fraud, Brady has a big head and now everyone is gunning for you! Its too bad that the schedule
makers game you and easy first 9 games. None the less you will choke when the chips are down.

You're kidding right? The Pats are a fraud... if that's the case the rest of the NFL is worse than a fraud.

BUCS: Now this team looks good! Major improvments on offense and they same great D that we have all
watched murder your favorite team for years. Sure we will miss Lynch but we have others. Sapp is gone and
good riddance! Rice will be pitching up tents in the opponents back fields! We will rule again this year like we
    did in 02.

HAHAHA!!! You are a riot Kevin! This team looks good... that's hysterical

I will agree with you on the Dolphins - they are in sore need of new leadership from the owner to the GM to the coach and players, this team is in a death spiral

Skip 2my lou You have a bet. On my word I will send you 75 bucks if Tampa wins more games than my Pats. You send me 50 bucks when it doesnt happen. Obviously Joe Stalin is horrified to have his $$$ back his wise crack a$$ up.... image

why won't you bet that the patsies won't win it all? How about this bet:

If the Bucs win the SB you owe me 50 bucks
If the Patsies win the SB I owe you 50 bucks
If neither team wins then no one owes anyone anything!

That way your wussy schedule won't help you, its the team that can make it all the way wins...afterall, 2nd
place means NOTHING. You only have to look at the Eagles record the past few years to see that wins
in the regular season mean squat!

    Bring it punk!

    Ok JS,
obviously you are to timid to step up to the plate and put your $$ where your mouth is. I will except your wager.

I know that deep down you understand that John Gruden has a thing for "The over the hill gang" Tim Brown and the rest of Grudens alter boys will not win squat.

you wanna bet Timmy Browns recieving #'s vs whoever you #3 receiver is?? LMK

and Garner vs Faulk too if you want a piece of that!

what I want to know is why the Patsies coming off a super bowl run have such a sissy schedule?? I mean I
can see Bills and Jets twice they are in your division but, the Browns, Bengals, Texans, Cardinals, and 49ers!
Your hardest road game is at the Chiefs...what a joke! None the less you get yours in the playoffs! If you
aren't 14-2 at the end so the regular season you should be ashamed!

  • Brady is 42-12 as a starter in regular season games and 6-0 in the playoffs.
We don't make the schedule, we just enjoy the results!
As I said last year, the Pats are a TEAM, and play with that concept.
