In a funk......got the complete set blues.

Looking for coins to complete a set is alot of fun. Completing the set is depressing.
Those of you that have been through this, is there hope??
What do you recommend??

You must sell them and start over.
I'm half kidding.

Check out some of my 1794 Large Cents on www.coingallery.org
Start a new series!!!!!!!!!!!
You can always expand into the varieties.
You and Mark seem to have similar problems right now. Just stay the course and stay focused. It will pay off. Both of you focus in on rather esoteric parts of the market but that is why you started something like you did. You wanted a challenge!!!
It isnt a challenge unless it gets tough...
You have a hell of a collection and it will be all world when it is finished...

Start a proof Kennedy short set, of course!

Late date Large Cents is an excellent suggestion. That registry set is wide open and the prices aren't yet in the stratosphere [like IHCs and FEs]. You could put together one great run of red cents from 1839 - 1909S.
coins that are going to come in to distroy the pop reports. There is also a good chance that platinum will drop after the war and anything I buy will go down in value.

Like the proof Kennedy short set!

You just need to find yourself another series. Everything will be better afterwards.

1. Look at the set. Are there any coins that don't fit well with the others? ANy that you just don't like the look of, but perhaps bought the coin just to fill the hole? Mark those for replacement, and start looking.
2. Start a new series.
You can do both at the same time, or just one. You can sell what you have or keep it. Lots of options. Good luck!
the short set of walkers but all the coins need to be rainbow rim toned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck
you are going to need it

appeal to you. Go to an auction and buy a coin that fits with that thinking. Then
buy another, and another, and...

Have been thinking of working on a type set, then seeing what series turns me on next. That's how I "discovered" small cents 10 years ago. Sample slabs........now there's an idea
BUT for some collectors it's the thrill of the chase, and after they complete the set, the fun is over. I guess a new mind set might be in order, but buying and selling as a collector withour a decent holding period can get really expensive.

I need more big money players in the market so my net worth keeps climbing.

I just looked at the Kennedy Half Registry you have the link to.
How can there be a higher than 70 Average?

Elwood,
For proof registry sets, cameo and deep cameo bonuses are assigned. For example, the Accented Hair Kennedy has a DCAM bonus of 3, so my PR68DCAM is worth 71 points. The SMS coins also have a bonus of three so, for example, Edson's 1966 in MS68DCAM is worth 71 points.

Thanks!!!
