"Hey Mitch...You have guesses from around $300 bucks to just over $2,000. Does anyone know what these are worth?"
Paul: YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. The folks guessing in this thread include the #1 Registered State Quarter Set owner, a major producer of these very coins, many well-informed and highly sophisticated modern coin collectors, etc. and the estimate auction value ranges nearly 700% between high and low!!!! On a sidenote, are you beginning to see why "P.O.R." is necessary sometimes in the modern coin biz when selling off a website!!

Mitch, Thanks for the offer. I think I'll stick with it, cause there may not be much more bidding till the last few hours...then only the survival of the fitest will overcome the battle Now if you were counting half time scores I would be pretty close
Craig: I can't say I hope you win or not at this point (there are many guesses higher than yours, if you know what I mean!) but I do appreciate your bids on the coin.
The state quarter series in high grade is really gaining momentum - as you see from this auction, which started at face value with no reserve and no enhanced scans. Some of the prices realized lately throughout the series have even surprised me. I think it is all about supply and demand - the state quarter series is now right up there with Lincoln cents as the "hottest" collectible series out there I believe. Myriad collectors now really love collecting this series. There are neat coins throughout every year of this series which are challenging to locate in top grade.

I must be bored tonight! (note: three of the guesses, including mine, came after the deadline and should be ignored). If I mistyped anytine send me a PM and I'll fix it.

Pete: Thanks for putting that together. It really shows the diversity in guesses from among board members.
It gets even trickier, because the winner can not guess over the actual price.
Incidently, from what I have seen on ebay over the past year, the current high bidder is a very aggressive MS state quarter buyer - he might be tough to beat!

I just went through 50+ rolls of this date and only found 2 ms67 candidates and not one ms68 candidate. forget the mint sets! i would like to adjust my bid to $1,249.99
That is exactly what I thought I was doing when I made my guess based on what the Coin Master "Datentype" had used as his guess. Even the experts are wrong sometimes.

"This is now a 3/0 coin in the pop report. Did the report go backwards or what?"
When I conduct auctions on ebay, I state the PCGS pops the best I know them - not taking advantage of the one week lag time that sometimes goes with a freshly graded coin getting into the On-Line Registry. I have been emailing back and forth tonight with an ebayer who insists I am selling a POP 1 1995 $5 Gold Eagle in PCGS-MS70, not pop 3 as I am representing. Obviously, the difference in price can be thousands of dollar between pop 1 and pop 3. Why burn someone.

Now that are resident silver Wash quarter and silver Roosie quarter diehard collectors had their fun and enjoyed high bid for a short while (thanks Manofcoins and OnlyRoosies), a serious state quarter bidder is back on top going into the home stretch

Well at least we are all getting closer!!! The last time a contest was held we had ranges from dorkarl's 24 cents for a slabbed quarter to $4000.
