Pete: If the coin closes right at $1,375.01, BRADDICK WINS with a PERFECT guess. Remember, winner of my contest can NOT go over the actual final price.

Yes, I've got a bit of a cushion to go... it can ride up to $1,649.99, I believe!

Pat - One really has to like your odds at this point And, I know you will greatly appreciate the quality of the "grand prize", should your guess hold on to win

My brain must have been a little fried---let me think now: is 1675 higher than 1675.01 or is it lower? Seemed like a simple question, I just got the wrong answer!
Be interesting to see if the snipers show up. If not, braddick's looking pretty good!
This has been great fun and very education I believe as well. Someone will win at auction a lovely MS68 IL(d) and, equally important, someone will win here a magnificent PCGS-MS69RD Lincoln cent - one I set aside last year when I got in a large batch of PCGS-MS69RD coins. The coin was simply among the finest MS69RD Lincolns I had ever come across. I know the contest winner will love it.
And, I am delighted to run more contests, especially when I get in a low pop modern coin with nearly no price history and no value guide figures - it makes for great fun to see who can win the 'World Series of Modern Coin Pricing"!!

For a newbie to the message boards, this was much fun to see. Congrats to the winner and to the owners. We are all out there looking for the silver bullet. My search continues on...
Funny you mentioned that. My guess came about because it was a number near what I once bid. I bid about $1350 on a 1917-s pcgs 64rd Lincoln Cent on ebay, and Rella (who is a board member here) bid $1314.15 and so I won it at $25 more than that. I didn't like the coin so I returned it. I think Rella won it when it was reauctioned for somewhat less. If you see this post Rella, what did you think of it? Just curious.
Braddick doesn't want that coin--he wants a FR02 2003 cent. So, I think you ought to find him what he wants and send me your MS69 as a reward for reminding you of Pat's preferences!!

I have another super quality PCGS-MS69RD Lincoln cent and would enjoy doing "Round 2" - the trick is to come up with a coin that can inspire guesses upwards of 700% apart from low to high. I'll see if I can come up with such a coin later today.

Okay guys, I want to do an auction right here for a raw Illinois-D MS68 - graded by me and too lazy to send it in. I will offer this coin out for the final bid price of about $1,300 (for Mitch's auction) less express grading fess and shipping costs of about $55. Does that sound reasonable?
Thanks Mitch! This stunning Lincoln arrived today safe and sound and it is definitely pleasing! We joke around about "PCGS MS69" Moderns, but I'll tell you what- Everything must be lined up for PCGS to grant the MS69 grade. Luster, Strike, Color, lack of marks, and overall appealing surfaces. I've seen tons of "Superb GEM" Lincolns, but none compare to a true PCGS MS69 until you actually see one. Thanks again Mitch for sponsoring a fun contest. This Lincoln is now tucked away in my "A" Box of coins.
