Howdy,
My parents have no idea what to give me for my birthday, so I suggested maybe they foot a coin from this Sunday's upcoming show... I think I want a nice type coin... original, and probably circulated.
What ideas do you have? Pictures are very acceptable examples

Not right now, I don't think-- I have an 80% red high-end 63, as well as a PF65 that I got in December... probably not going to get a small cent... I'm small cented up

PCGS, right?
Best to you!
I might be there Sunday to help you out!!!
It'll be fun to look for too.
Or even 1837? Or something like this with a special date such as 1812. This one is a little more than 100-200 but you get the idea.

I wish my parents thought like you do.
Jeremy, how about a nice XF seated dollar, say 1859-O or 1860-O
An auish $1 gold piece might be a neat item.
Classic head half cents are appealing, and a very nice coin could be found for $200 if you have patience in searching.
20c coins never are a bad thing.
The list goes on................

I think that it's an underrrated type coin among the moderns.
Since you like early US coins, a nice VF30 draped bust half cent 1800-1808, is your most inexpensive entry into draped bust coins. I bought one 12 years ago for $75 that sparked my interest into early bust coinage. Another suggestion would be a VG 1806 half dollar, but this would be tougher to find.
An 1804 half cent would be really cool. The circulated coins from this era have a lot of character, they have completed their tour in commerce in a time when our country was young, have been used by the early pioneers of the United States. Each die variety represents a limited edition of the artisty of the early US mint engravers.

Picked one up at the ANA Summer show I like the draped busts... never realized they fit in this price range...
You may have to stretch a little past $200 but not much, for a decent VG or so coin
(although I myself like coins with more detail and "net" grades of VG or Fine.)
the 1806 is a popular choice as a type coin, and comes round and pointed top "6" as well as
"no stem" and "with stem" varieties
Edit: Also notice the different shapes of Liberty's mouth on the different dies, is she smirking on that first one?

And by the way, everyone else's suggestions are worthless and without merit.
