I think it's funny that you say $100-$200 but everyone's suggestions cost $200. Anyway, I'd get a scarcer type coin. Something like a bust quarter or dime is a lot tougher than a half. Or you could get a one year type which is always good, 1853 rays and arrows quarter is way cool, or 1859 Indian Cent. Speaking of cents, how about a flying eagle cent!
I'd still like to have a nice AU 3-cent piece. A great type coin IMHO, and just a neat bit of history. I believe you can get a nice AU example for about $150 or so.

Bummer--very little in a good price range today--most either really low grade, or too rich for my blood. Andy's white doggie let me see the AU 20 center, but it was too expensive for me to handle
On the other hand, I know a coin shop that has a lot of type stuff... if he's open this weekend (Baltimore show might mean no ) I might just DRIVE over there

draped bust half--no problems VG
twenty cents--original F/VF with full liberty on the shield. Mine's an 1876, so it's a "better date."
seated liberty dollar--VF
