A quote from Blaise Pascal that was brought in today by a member of my cancer support group that is amazingly on topic here.

"We never care for the present moment.

We are so foolish we wander in times that are not ours and never think of the only time that belongs to us; we are so frivolous that we dream of the days that are not, and thoughtlessly pass over the only one that exists.

We never live but hope to live, and since we are always preparing to be happy, it is inevitable that we shall never be so."

I have actually already started my new year's resolutions... I'm exercising to gain back the strength I used to have. I've cut back drastically my coin expenditures and focusing on coins that are fun, affordable, and not demanding on my resources. I'm growing in my discipleship in Christianity and my depth of theology. And one that I have not yet started, but intend to try for next year. That is to finally start the search for a Mrs. image

I will buy the coins I want the first time I see them at auction, not later from the high-bidder dealer who will charge me 30% more than he paid (and collect it from me before he pays the auction house).

I have a few numismatic resolutions for next year. In 2004 I resolve to become a smarter collector through:

Taking the ANA's course "Grading US Coins"
View auction lots of current and potential collecting interests
Have the local coin collecting crowd over again once or twice
Submit some of my better world coins to test my abilities

Hopefully it will be a good year!

I will only buy PCGS coins because they make the best coins...and all the other services are #$@*, and any raw coin must have a problem, because if it didn't have a problem, it would be in a PCGS slab.

Mine would be to complete a first draft of my clipped cent book. There are lots of little milestones to hit between today and that goal, though, so I reserve the right to revise that one. image

I generated a thread like this one in the open forum. However, here are my goals/resolutions for 2004:

    1. Lose 15 pounds (using low carb diet)
    2. Complete Morgan PCGS registry set
    3. Complete Peace PCGS registry set
    4. Complete Ike MS with varieties PCGS registry set (only 1 left)

I spoke with my stepbrother, a doctor (internal medicine, or "adult" doctor) with his OWN practice who is VERY sharp, and he said the low carb diet works in the real world as far as his patients are concerned. He said this was the only diet that worked where they could lose weight and lower their cholesterol.

    Happy new year to all
