NumisEd's Farewell Speech
NumisEd
In light of the recent NumisEd bashing on this forum, I am compelled to speak to each and every forum member via this thread. I came to this forum to learn from others and to impart my (very limited) knowledge unto others. Overall, it has been a successful venture for me, especially when I stick to strictly coin related subjects, such as "grade this coin" or "what is this variety". Unfortunately, I am brutally and viciously attacked whenever I state my OPINION regarding the certification services, the PNG or coin dealers. Others receive similar abuse for stating their opinions that tend to go against the grain of a certain core group here on the forum.
What would this forum be like without the spice of having opposing points of view? What if everyone agreed that the concept of slabbing is without flaw? What if every collector liked every dealer and vice versa? Would the remaining members need a quickly dripping caffeine IV next to their computer in order to stay awake? Would the forum simply shrivel up and blow away as the forum membership dwindled due to the lack of interest and value that should be here?
As you have all read in the recent NumisEd bashing posts, I have received many insults and suffered personal attacks. I have also received some pm’s that have demanded that I leave the forum. In addition, I have received a few pm’s from fellow forum members who have pleaded with me to stay. Some of those very members are the ones that I have disagreed with on a regular basis, but they are wise enough to know that an opposing opinion really exposes all possible sides to an issue and stimulates intelligent reasoning and logic when forming opinions. Nonetheless, I have been asked to leave the forum.
Therefore, ladies and gentlemen of the forum, I hereby offer to you my farewell.
Not a farewell to the forum. Oh no. Sorry, but I am not leaving the forum. Rather, I say “farewell” to my intimidation when posting. I say “goodbye” to the many times that I have just lurked in a thread without posting for fear of being savagely attacked for stating my opinion. I say “sayonara” to my hesitation to state my full, unbiased opinion on the issues that affect the hobby that I love; numismatics. I also say “farewell” to the past methods I have used to communicate my feelings. No more name calling or bashing. I will try to be more civil, although that is going to be very difficult and I can’t make any promises.
“Adios” to the old NumisEd and “hello” to the new and improved NumisEd…..the numismatic avenger…..the coin caring crusader of all that is right…… Whenever I log onto the forum, I shall wear a lime green cape and sunglasses. As insults are hurled at me at the speed of light, I shall deflect those insults with my vest made from recycled slabs. I shall also respond to those insults with the following statements: “I am rubber, you are glue, bounced off of me and stuck to you” and “I know you are, but what am I”. Thanks to my few friends here and my many enemies. We are all on the same team somehow.
LONG LIVE THE FORUM!

Good for you. You has as much right to voice your opinion as anybody else.
Don't worry about annoying the "cool kids" in the "in crowd". Perhaps they aren't as cool as they think.
My posts viewed times

Maybe the bashers will remove their heads and get some fresh air, stop looking like the Doughnut brigade just rolling along and enjoying their views!!
We will wait and see the kinder, gentler Ed in the near future!!!

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
Jeff, the threads that you missed got moved to the open forum, except for a couple that were simple deleted because there was not an acceptable place to move them to.

I never found what you said to be objectionable to me.
I support your right to voice your opinion. I support everyone's right to do likewise.
Since this board is sponsored by our friends at PCGS, they are the final authority in this matter, in the same way they are the final authority when you submit coins to them. You submit to them when you post on this forum, for better or for worse. There are other venues.
I have no influence on them. I am not a big customer of theirs. I cannot encourage them to do (or not do) anything with any kind of sway.
Good luck, and I'm glad you are staying around.
regards,
Maurice
Lurking with intent to loom
free speech. He will continue to speak out on issues he is for and against. If those views
should be in the minority, then so be it. That appears to be the context of NumisEds announcement.

This "farewell" speech of yours is totally self-serving and mis-leading. Your detractors, in general, don't want to silence you. We simply want you to be less rude and abrasive. No one is asking you to be smooth-tongued like politician, but you don't need to be so hateful either with the way you express yourself.
Don't leave; just be more reasonable with your voicing your opinions.

EVP, I apologize for taking such and ranting stance against you last night. I think that you and I have a lot in common in terms of collecting interests and we should be more friendly to each other than in the past. My apologies for telling you to kiss my a$$.
If I remember correctly that was FAT a$$.

Clankeye, You are always a joy!
When I first read the title of this tread, I was heatbroken. "Say it aint so!" was my thought.
And although I haven't always agreed with what NumisEd has said, I've always valued his input (and the way he can whip us into a tizzy).
Glad to hear you're not going down without a fight.
I apologize as well for my part in this whole rancorous affair. For what it's worth, I never doubted your numismatic expertise. In fact, I was hoping that you'd post more about numismatics instead about the politics of this biz. I was really hoping that you'd direct your considerable passion into pure numismatics and share it with all of us.
I think you and I have much common interests within numismatics. So, if that makes me selfish -- so be it. Please regale us with your vast knowledge in the areas of your expertise. I've read your posts in the past, and have found them very interesting to me.
Regards,
EVP
