Is it time to break this forum into two forums, a U.S Modern forum and a U.S. Classics forum?

    There are some things each of us can do now to improve the US Coin Forum:

    When starting a thread, think about your TITLE wording for awhile. Don't just plop down a few words for the TITLE.

    1. Include the NAME of the type of coin discussed.

    2. Include what it is about this coin you are discussing.

    3. Remember members will use the search feature, so include many key words in the thread title.

    4. It is easier to read a long thread title than to have to open the thread just to see what it is about.

    Very well said, but two more points.

    5. Spell the words right. The search function will be useless in finding threads with misspellings.

    6. Be concise. Use key words but don't use unneeded words and fluff.

    Same BS, different year. Just set your page length to 100 and file through it. Need a post you posted to, the 'today' page has that one click away.

    I liked the registry stuff but when the board split,,, well I never go there. Sure that has happened to many of us. Need a slower forum?? just cross the street,, image

    We self regulate amazingly well, and we do it by example, gentle hnits go a long way.

    What we do need it a seller/buyer rating system for the BST. Many forums use one, we should also. JMHOimage
    Need something designed and 3D printed?
  • I'm not in favor of a split, because I (try to) collect both and
    its convenient to have only one forum.

    Otherwise, how about moderns in all CAPS as usual...
    The rest in U/L.

    The only problem is the cutoff date.

    OR...Have an icon/symbol that denotes Modern v. Classic,
    like, for example...

    <<M Check out this coin I got on the e of Bay.>>

    or

    <<C Wow what a find.>>

    I'm just throwing it out there.
    Any help?

    P.S. YN's need guidance too. I welcome their questions and help when I can.
    As long as they abide by the rules, no problem.

    Ken

    My first post...updated with pics

    I collect mostly moderns and I'm currently working on a US type set.

    I would create a separate forum for threads containing any of the following words:

    * market maker
    * wannabee
    * done deal
    * modern

  • NO!

    US Coin Forum says it all.

    I'm more than capable of using my mouse to navigate and sort the wheat from the chaff.

    My good friend Frank pretty well summed the issue up on the first page.

    I also stand by everything I wrote 3 years ago. Its all about the elitest attitudes of a few on the forum. The good news is that many of the elistests have moved on.

    Gee, I'd have figured you were more than capable of using both your mouse and your head.

    At the same time, too. image

    So lets see. We will end up with a YN forum, a dealer forum, a collector forum, a modern forum for each, a classic forum for each, a male forum, a female forum, an old person forum, an alcoholic forum, a forum for each denomination and each one broaken up into the above sectors, then a different Mint forum, a gold forum, a silver forum and on and on and on and on.
    Hey what about a US Coin forum?

    I'd rather see an AT forum

    And an NT forum

  • For the folks that want to break things up, (which I am not in favor of?) you may want to look at the format of Silicon Investor forums.
    It is not free to join or use, but it may give folks some ideas as to how it could be organized.
    Like I said it aint free, and I'm sure Cu would have to charge for membership. image

    I just wanted to make sure that all readers realize that the bulk of this thread was from posts in March 2003.
    At that time, and now, I am not in favor of splitting the forum.
