How did you arrive at your eBay name?

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,662 ✭✭✭✭✭
Some eBay names are kind of ' out there'. I see some with letters and numbers that don't seem to mean anything. Others seem to capture probably a personality trait the owner has (I guess).

How did you come up with your eBay handle? Are you thinking about changing it?

For the longest time I just used my name, 'Braddick', but changed it a little over a month ago to 'classicmoderns' (after the "Classic vs Modern" threads that 'occassionally' pop up here). I figured too it covers just about any coin that can be offered for sale.
Boy, those sunglasses eBay makes you wear for a month was irritating!

I purchase very few coins from ebay. Only a few fun coins here and there but my ebay handle is TheGeneral1955 Why The General? i have a passion for War General's Like Patton, and like unknown General's that will fight in wars in the near future. I also Admired Ralph Kramden when the landlord tried to raise his rent he locked himself in his apartment and told nortin and alice that he was THE GENERAL imageimage

And Finally My friends, family, and coworkers for as long as i remember have called me The General and so it stuck. all except here that is where it is just plain Mr.Kelso real name is Coz

I was airplanenut@excite.com and I lost the email address... then airplanenut312@home.com... low and behold I lost that one, too...

I got too pissed to keep changing it again and again as my email moved around, so I just went to JKCoins (my initials, plus "coins") It did get confusing in a snipe battle with rkcoins... let me tell you image

Well, none of my monikers are all that mysterious. My ebay handle, my email address, and this user id here are all my initials: nwcs. Sometimes there's a 2 after it because some systems need 5 letters and not 4.

  • Dr Svenghali, which is also my nick here, has an odd past. I received this nickname at college in two parts with Svenghali comming first. Svengali, is the malevolent hypnotist in an 1894 novel by George du Maurier. The character became so well-known in the culture of the period that his name entered the dictionary as one who exerts a malign persuasiveness on another. Due to my exceptional fudging abilities in the analytical chemistry lab, the name stuck, with a slight spelling change. The honorary title of Dr was inferred upon me when I ran a campus lab for a year, as many visitors assumed I was the prof. There you have it: Dr Svenghali.

I tried a small business venture, and the company name was VorTechnology (Vortex for short). A vortex being a funnel cloud. My internet service could not handle all the letters, so I had to truncate to fcloud.

I originally had kyuss, but I forgot the password, and lost the email address by the time I went to log in again, as this was many years ago, and my ebay usage was less frequent. I think I went a year with out using it. so now its quorthon13 as I had to re sign up. i lost 13 positive feedbacks. :-(

Ken, I hate early Fords. You have no worry from me (unless we raceimage)

My name was the result of an ISP that required that a second email address had a 55 suffix. Seemed natural. Just sort of kept it for many things (but not all, I do have my car name---lilhuff--which goes for my car with a small supercharger. Even have the domain name for it)

  • My ebay name is "enichols1979".

My first initial (e) + my last name (nichols) + my year of birth (1979)

I would have just had "enichols", but when I signed up it was taken so I had to add the numbers. I'm thinking of changing it to something else, but I'll wait until I finish selling some things so I don't have the glasses.

I have collected and been dealing in "things Remington" since I was 8 years old. I wanted a handle that would stick in the minds of both my buyers and my buddies, so I picked REMUMC. This is the "headstamp" that The Remington-Union Metallic Cartidge Co. stamped into the head of almost every round of ammunition they produced from 1909 to 1954, which is the time period I collect. I refuse to collect things that are younger than me, with a very few exceptions!

  • My E-bay handle is easy if you know my other hobby ( More like a job LOL ). BC4US = Border Collies for us.
We have three border collies and we are a foster home for Border collies so some times we have four or five running around. This leads to my Wife's E-bay handle RVAZOO = Our Virgina Zoo, because on top of the BC's we also have a Pembrock Welsh Corgi and a cat.

I started on yahoo in '98 and combined that with my last name; so I was clossey98. I wanted compucheap for my ebay name, but someone else had that. When I joined ebay, I kept clossey98 but changed that to phillyjoe98 about a month or so ago for security reasons. (The sunglasses are not cool)
